I really like the East Mesa Hanger clinic. My family and I really like the office staff. They are so nice and listen to me if I have a question. I also enjoy having Michael as my prosthetic person and listens to where to fix my prosthetic if I have a problem. Michael even came on his day off to help me with my practice socket and handed it in so I can have my socket made. He had a student that we all enjoyed too that was very nice and easy to talk to. I would give Michael and everyone at the Mesa office 10 stars if could. read more

Carve out an extra hour if you have an appointment at this location. Used an order from September instead of the one from yesterday, took them 15 minutes just to figure that out. Front desk employees weren't able to run a retail charge, it took us 20 minutes to check out. read more

The most inefficient, disorganized, unprofessional group of people I've ever had to try to work with due to my insurance using this group. Insurance auth not done correctly, then different that what my insurance says is covered and when you question them they turn it back on you gaslighting for their incompetence and lack of follow through. I asked questions about what was being ordered and why and they couldn't tell me for some reason. How is that possible? If you have any other options don't go here. If you do be prepared to advocate for yourself watch all transactions and research what they say is or isn't covered and your cost with your insurance directly. Terrible business and no one there cares about the clients they serve in my opinion even "management". This was my experience. read more

The office staff particularly a woman named Hilda incredibly inept, unprofessional, and downright rude. I was told my son's inserts would be ready in 3 weeks, that was on October 20th. Today is December 4th. I had given them some grace because of the holidays and called today to find out what was going on with my order. After roughly 30 minutes of being put on hold multiple times because nobody knew what they were doing. I finally had a woman named Hilda. Basically tell me I was a liar because clinician that did my son's mold would never talk about the prescription. Come to find out he needs a new prescription from his doctor which is totally fine. I will get that tomorrow but when I asked why nobody contacted me in all this time to let me know that, HILDA only responded with when you get the prescription we will order the inserts. No apology for non-communication, no apology for telling me that his soles would be ready in 3 weeks but I had to call to even find out they weren't even being made!!??? And finally for Hilda basically calling me a liar and telling me that my conversation that I had never happened!! Worst experience I've ever had with a medical "professional" ZERO STARS read more

Hanger Clinic, 932 W. Southern, Tempe September 10, 2025 Casey, the prosthetic tech is amazing, knowledgeable, thorough, and has wonderful interpersonal skills. I've had three appointments with Casey. * June 17th He thoroughly explained how a custom knee brace is made. The design and the function of each element, including the rubber bands that would resolve my knee giving out to the left and right. He took measurements of my leg and scanned it for data to send to the factory. * July 2nd The brace arrived he placed it on my leg and showed me exactly where the hinge should be on the side of my leg. How, what order, and how tight the straps should be. He took it off and put it on several times to make sure I was learning the process. He was aware that I am elderly and have Parkinson's cognitive issues. * September 9th Returned to have the brace tuned up and correct an issue I had noticed (the bands on the side seemed weaker). Casey adjusted the length of each strap to make it easier to secure. And he replaced the side bands. He also again showed me the proper position of the hinge in relation to the bend in my knee. Casey is a great asset to this clinic! read more

After years of the Lymphedema advocacy group fighting to finally get Medicare to cover compression garments, the Hanger Clinic no longer supplies compression garments. Yesterday I took my prescription to the Hanger location on W Southern in Mesa AZ and was told they no longer will fill the prescription and when I asked where I could now go, they had no answer. The office person said it was a company decision. I can only assume that they do not want to accept what Medicare would pay so they've eliminated the ability to get garments there. Apparently it's all about the money. So sad. read more

First off I am a veteran. I was given an order by a foot and ankle Dr to get custom fit insoles from this place. I showed up and everything was great. They did all of the sizing and asked what I needed. The tech was really awesome. They set an appt for about 3 weeks out. They knew that it had to go thru the VA when I got there. I received a cpl texts a few days later explaining that it was my job to get the purchase order from the VA for them to proceed. They weren't the ones that were to get it? I told them that I am the consumer and why is it my job to get it? I called the number that they gave me and it turned out that it not the number. I finally got thru to the VA and explained what was going on. They said that everything that I needed was in the order to the ankle clinic. The "boss" in charge at the Hanger Clinic said that they couldn't use it and it wasn't a po. She's been doing this for 20 some years and she knows what it is. The VA says it way there and to use it. I got tired of her talking over me and said some not so nice things. She said that she was going to tell the VA about me. Great. She couldn't call them for a purchase order but could to tell them about me. Don't waste your time with these people. Its sad that others have to work with her and her 20 years of experience. I was hoping to get a good product but now will find another place. read more

Interaction with the front office was horrible. They were short with my husband and told him that the inserts ordered by the Gilbert location of Hanger were all wrong and the licensed fitter didn't know what he was doing! We liked the gentleman at the Gilbert Hanger, who had 30 years experience. He worked with my husband and told us what paperwork he needed to obtain from his physician for diabetic inserts being paid for by his insurance and Medicare. The young woman at the Mesa location was quick to tell us he was wrong by looking at the screen in less than 5 minutes! When we asked for a look at the diabetic shoe catalog, we were told to come 5 to 10 minutes early to look before the fit appointment for diabetic shoes!!! No touching the catalog. read more

Lazy, incompetent staff. I have been trying to get an appointment for over 6 months! Too lazy to review documentation from my pediatrist/ortho, forced me to go to primary doctor for a repeat diabetic foot exam. That I had to pay out of pocket for, as it was a REPEAT. Prosthetics aren't something that you can ever count on getting fixed on you're first going around, doesn't matter how good your Prosthetist or Orthotist is, lets just say we lucked out and had my family members boot adjusted correctly the very first time allowing him to be far more active then he's been in months. I hope when people rate places such as Hanger Clinic they understand our situation is rare and it often takes a lot of tinkering and adjustments before one is able to use their prosthetic to its full potential. I feel that it is bad business to call a patient and tell them their insurance doesn't cover the custom inserts and you want $649. Upon probing I found out you did not bill the insurance and you are just guessing based on the wording of the policy. I said I would not pay a dime until my insurance actually said it was denied. What do you know? It was covered. My mom has the same insurance and unfortunately fell for that trick. Make sure you ask questions when they call to say it's not covered!! read more

First, let me say that Mike was great. Very helpful and clearly did his best to understand my knee issues. But... he kindly went to get another opinion and that person was condescending, dismissive and disrespectful. I have to do cardio rehab 5 hours a week for 4 very severe heart conditions (fun!). All of my exercises involve the significant use of my knees, which can get quite painful with my arthritis. This "second opinion doctor" said I have to stop doing my cardio rehab. Not an option. Then he said, and this is almost a word-for-word quote, "You could do hydro-therapy, but I'm sure you'll have an excuse for not doing that." WHAT????? I was there because both my cardiologist and general practitioner said I should get custom knee braces for my rehab and this patronizing brute insults me, assumes that I'm a lazy, excuse-making complainer and tells me that he can't help me, that I should get surgery (my knees are nowhere near that bad) and then tells me to order knee stabilizers on Amazon. Note to this gentleman, whose behavior was unprofessional, inappropriate and unacceptable: if you don't actually like helping people who are putting their trust in you to hopefully have a less pain-filled life, then quit your job. Judging people and being quite obvious about your uninformed conclusions is unappreciated and beyond the pale. You should be ashamed of your behavior. So very unkind. read more

If I could give this Hanger Clinic a 10 star review I would! Hilda at the front checkin counter has been incredible from my very first experience. She always welcomes myself and my son with a smile; is very personable and understanding. For instance, today I was running very behind schedule for my sons appointment and I called her to explain what was going on, she was able to make it work out for my son to be seen without affecting the other scheduled patients and rather than automatically wanting to reschedule our appointment she listened to what I had to say. She's efficient and quick with the insurance approval and that's something I truly appreciate from working in a medical practice myself! Not to mention, the clinic manage James has been phenomenal! He takes his time with my son fitting him for the correct size boots and sizing him for the bar that goes between his boots (he has a clubbed foot), and explains to me what to look for and when we may need to size him up. He has an open door policy and tells us to come by anytime and he can make sure my sons boots are still fitting him appropriately. I've always gotten incredible service from this clinic from the get-go. You can tell when staff genuinely cares about their patients and James and Hilda go above and beyond! Again, if I could give this clinic 10 stars I would! read more

Horrible and very violating experience!! The prosthesis Kasey Crosby at the alma school and southern location in Mesa, AZ was with a tech there and went through my file and got my address. Long story short...I found them in my backyard peeking in my windows. I contacted Kurt the regional Manager and after reviewing and calling me back...he apologized over and over and said how sorry he was, but because Kasey was the only prosthesis at that location then he said he has to weight it out and said I am only one person and if he lets Kasey go and he treats more people which therefore is more money coming in then me so I am going to have to leave. Another time prior to this with Hanger I was with Fikes Brace and Limb. Ray Fikes had problems with fitting me, so he contacted Hanger and passed my leg and files under the table to have them work on my prosthetic leg. I'm a below the knee amputee by the way! I had no idea that any of this was going on until I showed up at Fikes and he was yelling very loud to Kurt from Hanger on the Phone. They were arguing on who was going to bill the insurance because they now both wanted paid. Hanger played some tricks to get what they needed and both parties were paid! I also believe that's a huge hippa violation! I truly believe in Karma...Frank and Walter above them are siding with Kurt and their employee and have left me feeling victimized twice as bad. That's like raping somebody and telling them it's their fault for getting raped and then taking their leg away from them when you leave! read more

Very disappointed with this office. I had to wait 6 months for an appointment and then today I find out they can squeeze people in if they just come to the office. The office does not carry all brands of compression stockings and don't carry all of the colors. They were asked if they could order the correct color in and they told me no and to go back to the clinic where I got my others. Well, I would, except its 650 miles away. That was a very uncaring thing to say. I ended up leaving and will have to purchase what I need off Amazon now, which will cost me money, instead of through my insurance, which would be free. Quickly Went from Hero to Zero: It's been close to 60 days since we had the appointment and have still have not received delivery of the orthotics. Apparently, they were going through an overhaul of their phone system and never received or did not bother to reply to my multiple messages asking for an update. When I finally spoke with Marcia, she indicated that there had been a problem with the order to the manufacturer and that the orthotics would be expedited in 3 days. It didn't happen and we are still waiting. Big disappointment. read more

I had to wait a little with my mother as the two people working there were busy. We were browsing not sure on what to buy for my mom who suffers nerve pain and some lack of feeling in her feet. Then the manager, Mr. Barnett, came to our rescue. He was amazing. He took care of my mom better than any doctor's office, knowledgeable about what she needed and why. I came directly from the Ortho and walked right in and was helped. The staff was friendly and helpful. The fella that helped us was so kind and he helped custom fit her wheaton brace to her body. This company makes it for a poor customer experience because they're unavailable for their referrals to make an appointment and when you finally do make an appointment, they reschedule to an unreasonable time span and becomes worthless. I have been attempting to make an appointment since December 29, 2019 and I have made several attempts to make an appointment and have been given the run-around regarding an appointment or about my referral issue. Unfortunately due to this, I have not been able to obtain the proper urgent care for my diabetic feet and now have opted to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in addition to the state department. I have letters that I have fax to this company, I have call logs and logs of the times I visited them all which lead to absolutely zero resolution and complete waste of time. read more

If it were possible I would rate Hanger Clinic Mesa a negative 10 stars. The perfect example of how being an uncontested monopoly leads to problems with every aspect of the "business" - I have had to deal with this company for 4 years for shoes with special orthopedic insoles. I am only allowed one pair per year by my insurance company so every year this repeats.... get prescription from podiatrist, try to make appointment with Hanger- many attempts needed to get through to appointment dept, finally get through- they say they don't have prescription- But someone from your office left message on my phone saying you have prescription and I need to call to make appointment (that takes MANY attempts to get through)... days/ a week or more goes by, finally get prescription- BUT it's not filled out properly- Dr. doesn't know what is wrong, send again, still not right for Hanger, try again- same- ask Hanger to talk to Dr- no they don't do that. Goes on for another week or 10 days. Finally get prescription settled a month+ after seeing dr . Schedule appointment for fitting - first year fitting went well and shoes were fine (total elapsed time about 2 months) 2nd year fitting seemed odd, shoes received totally unacceptable, local office (Glendale AZ) said it is what it is, no help- had to contact national headquarters to get refit scheduled and start over. Finally got shoes after 4 months from start. 3rd year (mesa office this time) same issue with prescription not being written the way Hanger wants, same back and forth about fixing prescription, same almost a month to get scrip right, told them to just use fitting from past year and re-order same- took about a month from that point- toatl about 7 or 8 weeks. Now this year start right up with they don't have prescription even though someone from their office called to tell me they had scrip and I needed to call to make appointment- on the phone line that just goes to voicemail that no one ever returns call from. Finally get throgh to human by pressing number for hospital calling. And the no prescription run around starts again.... read more

Three weeks ago today I dropped off my Don Joy custom made knee brace for a basic tune up and new straps and pads. To date no one knows where it is and is blaming Don Joy for the delay in the brace being returned to me. Calls to this location were unacceptable. The supervisor at this location is rude and definitely not qualified to sell Hoover's door to door. I have called the customer care in Oklahoma. They dropped the ball. The lady was supposed to make a complaint on my behalf to the management. After not hearing for almost a week I called her. (Sonia). She had not made the compliant and finally did last Friday. I was told either Sonia or the management would call me back the same day with an update. No one called. Late to day after no hearing I called again. This time I asked for someone higher up,. I spoke with a Winetta. She told me the dame thing as Sonia. But assured me she would not drop the ball. I am skeptical and said I will call her for an update in the morning. In the mean time they have had my unloader brace that cost 5k for over three weeks. I was promised a 5 day turn around but here we are and no brace. Last week it was supposed to be in transit. I buy stuff on line all the time. I recently bought a car part from a seller in Maryland. It took three days tops to get it Fedex regular shipping. I can only imagine someone having their prosthetic leg gone for this long. I had my 4th knee surgery in January. I need the brace. Very very bad customer service. read more

I called prior to coming in to make sure we could come in without an appointment and that it would be an easy "come in, get fitted and out the door" thing and they said yes. We come in and have to sit for 30 minutes before anyone acknowledges that we are even in the room waiting and when they finally do come in they tell us what the doctor ordered and potential cost out of pocket but that they will run the insurance to see if it's covered. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THIS ENTIRE TIME WE'VE BEEN SITTING HERE YOU HAVEN'T RUN OUR INSURANCE WHEN WE GAVE IT TO YOU WHEN WE WALKED IN????? COME ON!! Now we're sitting still waiting to have our insurance run and still haven't even been shown what it is they want to put on the foot. Although the staff are nice, they are extremely slow and need to get a better system in place. read more

Have had zero issues with my brace and even had a great experience with follow up. They were basically assigned to me while I was admitted at Banner Desert for emergency back surgery. Jim was great when he came to measure, explained everything well, and they had my full upper body brace finished and delivered the next day, enabling me to finally walk. I even called with a question about straps that they handled great, no charge. I'm happy with them. read more
