    Bulogi hoagie
    Paul C.

Exec summary: quick, clean diner style restaurant with a view of historic airplanes Details: It never got crowded , one of the things you always worry about at museums I was in line behind active duty navy (why do they wear camo?) and they frequent the restaurant. They recommended the hamburgers and the bulogi.. but weren't keen on the Mac salad Went with local knowledge but felt in Hawaii to try something g more local-ish so Bulogi hoagie combo instead of plate lunch The woman at the cash register recommended it as well For those not familiar, think Korean flavored Philly steak The food came super fast. The folks were super pleasant , refills on your drinks and a chance to rest your feet. If you're doing the ford Islam museums, give this restaurant a consideration

The restaurant is inside the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Ford Island. You can go to restaurant without going into the museum section. We were there to watch friends play in a special pickleball tournament that was held in Hangar 79. After a few hours watching some lively games walked over to see what was available to eat. Ordered Kailua Pork plate lunch to share with husband with two bottles of water. It came with usual side Mac salad and with rice. Although instead of Mac salad you could order green salad. The pork was the usual smoky roasted flavor and a some kind of bbq sauce. The flavor was nice, the plate easily fed both of us. They had a dining area decorated in an aviation theme of that time period. You ride a free shuttle from the main entrance of Pearl Harbor over the bridge to Ford Island which has stops at the Missouri and the Aviation Museum. Most people who visit the restaurant are there as tourist.

Chicken bites and fries. I ate most of the fries before I remembered to take a picture.

My daughter loved: - feeding cats - playing with cats I was a little worried because she had a bad experience at a puppy cafe in Japan, but the kittens seemed well behaved. We got to enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches and and apple juice, and some outside food like pizza, because we were celebrating a birthday party. We'd love to come back and play with the animals again!

The space is thoughtfully separated into two rooms: one for little kittens and one for the adult cats, which I really appreciated. You're free to wander back and forth between rooms, so it feels relaxed and never rushed. Your visit comes with a small treat for you and a variety of cat toys to choose from! The cats are adoptable, which I thought was such a kind and humane touch. It's clear they genuinely care about finding these cats loving homes. Just a friendly heads-up: scratches can happen. Pretty sure the owner does their best to keep those tiny murder mittens trimmed, but cats will be cats. If you do leave with a few battle scars like I did, they've got you covered with bandaids and lint rollers too, because the cat hair is inevitable. Overall, this place is cozy, thoughtful, and incredibly cute!! Such a lovely experience!! I'd absolutely come back again!!

I got the Beef Stew Plate $16.99 that came with white rice and potato mac salad. The sourdough melt and beef stew plate came with measly portions. I counted five pieces of beef on my plate. The Hawaiian plate was worth it. It had so much more food on there. The food was good. It's the same food they serve at Highway Inn. I really liked the smoked beef in the melt. It had a really strong smoky taste. The beef stew was on the salty side. The decor was awesome. It was vintage with wood furnishings and very kid friendly. They even had a play area with books.

They have a great mission: They team up with the Hawaiian Humane Society to showcase cats and kittens that are available for adoption, and if you are vetted and selected, you can take your chosen cat(s) home for their new life with you! Even if you're not in the market for a new companion, you can go to the Café, get a coffee or Italian soda, eat a scone, and pet adorable cats. There's always a nice rotating mixture of frisky kittens and older cats, and some are napping while others are playing. There are toys in the room where the cats are so you can interact with them. I always recommend reservations but you can walk in and see if there are spots available. You get lots of time to interact with the cats and it's usually not packed so there's room to interact with multiple kitties. Please check it out--it's such a good cause!

There are many of these types of cat cafes on Oahu. There is also one on Maui. The other type is a for profit business that offers customers the opportunity to relax and interact with beautiful and sometimes exotic animals. This model is very popular in Japan and Cat Cafe MOFF, as a Japanese company, definitely falls into this category. Customers pay for a fixed amount of time with the cats (30 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) The entry comes with a complimentary drink. You can purchase additional treats for the cats. The cats here are not adoptable. They are well cared for in a clean and comfortable environment. The staff is pleasant and attentive to the cats' care and needs. It would not be fair to criticize one for not being enough like the other. Personally, our family supports both. Our kids loved their time at Cat Cafe MOFF and can't wait to return. This rapidly growing, veteran-owned business is really taking off! (Pray excuse the Air Force…read moreflight-themed pun) The young owner (whom I met years ago) started out with one truck parked over at the Hickam BX. He now has additional trucks and several kiosks/brick & mortar locations across all the major military installations on Oahu. From Schofield Barracks, to the Pearl Harbor NEX, to the AMC Pax Terminal, and several other sites, it appears he has found a successful marketing and branding strategy. His latest addition is the coffee shop "grotto" on the ground floor of Bldg 1102, where the old Green Bean Coffee franchise used to be. While Green Bean Coffee was a victim of the economic/political impacts caused by COVID, we hope that Drive Thru Joe flourishes for a long time. Here's why I appreciate DTJ: - You order a small coffee and you receive a medium... at the cost of the small! - They have Keto-friendly protein foodstuffs like eggs - Super friendly - Specials and discounts daily - Military themed board of fare - Faster throughput, and reduced interval queuing ("IE-speak" meaning the line now moves faster because they've refined processes and procedures.... When Green Bean was operating there, the line would snake clear around a quarter of the hallway) Spartan decor but the coffee is superb and the food is quite good. No need to spend money on fancy frills when it's a fast turn on serving customers and high quality food & coffee that's important. Mahalo for reading my review.

We drove by and noticed this place and gave the number a ring via Google, and we were able to get an appointment on short notice. The owner came out with a little money, as he was even generous enough to pay for my parking. We tried the dole whip and the other treats that they offered and all of them were delicious. You can tell that the owners are really passionate about cats and kittens, and they really care about customer service. There is a lot of thought and energy that has been put into this place. The cats were all friendly but remember they are still cats so they have claws. If anything, some just wanted to play and were a little more assertive about it :) I was so delighted with the experience that I made a voluntary donation for $100. Covid has destroyed a lot of small businesses and I would hate to see this one go even though I am from California. Thank you Kitty Cafe! Hope I visit again soon.

My fiance and I like to call ourselves cat lounge connoisseurs. Just jokes- that's just me, in my…read moreown head calling myself that. But we do visit cat cafes/lounges more often than not. We go to the two in town once every few months, and enjoy the wide range of cats and kitten alike. Rebekah L. introduced us to this new kitty cafe early late last month, however with our schedules and the busy-ness of this lounge, we were only able to schedule a visit this past weekend. So we loaded up, and drove to meet Rebekah in not-so-small Kailua Town. We lucked out on street parking and met up with our friend to walk into the most kitschy kitty place of our dreams. Literally. The waiting area was decorated with cat posters and comfy chairs to wait for check in. The most impressive part was the huge cat tiki that commanded attention as soon as walking in. One of the cat owners, Heather, advised that the statue was commissioned and the work was so beautifully done it had me wondering if I wanted a cat tiki in my apartment.. After check in, we were directed to the snacks for purchase before entering the 'cat room'. We opted for both treats, and it would be brought into the cat room after it was made. The dole whip was delicious and such a generous portion too. We also tried the acai bowl for 'research purposes' and I was shocked to learn in was vegan. The acai bowl sweetness wasn't overpowering as it sometimes can be, and the granola had a nice crunch to it. So far this kitten lounge has my favorite snacks- definitely blew the previous bean water and tea out of the water. The nicest touch (in my opinion) was that the owner also directed us where the bathroom was before starting our cat adventure. It was a very nice touch as many places do not offer bathrooms, especially cat lounges. We sanitized our hands and walked into the cat area. There was a main cat area, currently decorated in the tiki/Old Hawaii style with tiny grass huts and aloha shirt cats framing the walls. One thing I was surprised and delighted to discover was that there was multiple cat rooms! To the left of the main room, there was two smaller rooms, decorated 'cat' themed as well, with Chinese Cat Paw wallpaper and cat trees and toys all over. There was 'human' seating room all over the place, and the different rooms allowed much more space and time with cats than it would have been with just one big room. There was enough hiding space for the kittens to chill out for a nap. However they were relentless in their playing and just general 'kitten-ness' that there wasn't much napping when we were there. We currently have a soon to be three year old cat, and have been on the hunt for a possible candidate for our shy guy. One thing I didn't notice beforehand (in my excitement for cats) was that the lounge was only meant for kittens, and not cats of all ages. It didn't take away from my experience at all, but I was pleasantly surprised. My fiancé ended up falling for a cute tiny kitten named Kona, however it wasn't meant to be and we didn't end up adopting her. After our hour was up, we said a heartful goodbye to the kittens and the Owners, and left feeling much more relaxed than when we came in. We will be adding Aloha Kitty Cafe into our roster of cat lounges to visit and cannot wait for our next kitty play date!
