The second was to mount a large flat screen TV on an existing, dated TV cabinet. He designed it first and with approval, built a fine TV mount on new board over the old TV cabinet, taking care to hide all wires and speakers. The last item was (I think) the most difficult, as we wanted to match a handrail on an opposite side wall of the existing handrail in our older house for better stair safety. The handrail profile was very difficult to find, but he persisted and knew that only a matching profile would look nice. He finally found it, and described to me the many decisions he made to have it match the other side (angle, where it started and stopped, how far away from the wall, etc). I had no idea about how painstaking it was, but I can tell you that it looks like it had always been there and I so appreciate what a perfectionist he is. This acumen must come from working with the Goldman Bros in NYC, where I learned "never take no for an answer and everything is negotiable". After scaring 3 painters away on painting a kitchen with 31 cabinets and draws, 5 colors and a loft with an ocean view, I met my match, Scott Sunseri. He figured he could handle me and not because we are both Italian! Scott has a skill set that made the deal. He was a bit higher in price than the other bids, but I could see he was more experienced. Scott was in construction for many years, so he understand design, wood, infrastructure, various kinds of paints, how paints cure, plus he had a flare for design. He convinced me on color choices, handles on cabs, even flooring Scott visited me 3 times before painting. we went over prep, the painting, curing and drying of paints. Scott estimated the job would take 2 weeks, it was 2.5, no problem. He even came back for minor touch ups. He also has a penchant for detail and would not leave the job until Done to perfection! We had a plumbing leak in the wall between our laundry room and garage, which required major drywall removal and several days of mold remediation. We hired Evan to handle the drywall replacement and painting, and he recommended the remediation company and coordinated with them while that was happening. In addition, we asked for help organizing the garage--something I'd been meaning to do for years. He built custom shelving for a tricky corner, installed prebuilt shelves, and added wall organizers to finally make the space functional. Evan was prompt, professional, and friendly throughout. Please note I was unaware if Joe did large drywall repairs so I used another company to do the repairs and Joe for the painting afterwards. Pricing is extremely reasonable, and he gets it done on time and without mistakes. Most recently, we purchased a new house. The bathrooms were outdated and although we wanted to replace the cabinets, it wasn't in the budget. We "settled" for painting them, and we're so glad we did! Joe did an outstanding job. He is a perfectionist, which is exactly what you want in a painter. (I'm something of a nit-picky perfectionist myself.) The lines were crisp and exact. You can tell from the results that he really takes pride in his workmanship. That being said, Joe has hustle! He was extremely efficient. He worked fast, but still with accuracy. As a homeowner, I've definitely worked with contractors that take long smoke breaks, lunch breaks, snack breaks. With Joe, there is no lolly-gagging. If he's on-site, he's on-task, getting the job done. Joe is also very knowledgeable, and with a diverse background in general contracting issues, he's more than happy to provide input and act as a sounding board for anything else you may have going on project-wise. He's also humble, and knows when to refer you to a specialist. Along with painting the cabinets, he installed all of the knobs and pulls. Could I have done that myself? Sure, but it would have taken me four times as long and been quite a headache. In summary, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and would definitely refer friends and family as well as use again for future projects.
