Not only are we paying $700/day for Michael's crew to get the jobs done, but we are also paying about $150 each couple per night for airbnb and hotel. So far, the work has gone from 3 days to 6 days!!! First of all, Michael never does the actual work. I will say that Michael's one guy was able to successfully complete the electrical work. However, he hires unlicensed, inexperienced workers to paint our 2 bedroom, 1400 sq ft unit. Their crew left a huge mess...pizza boxes, socks, debris, paint all over our floor tiles in which we had to clean and fix ourselves. His painter told us we bought the wrong paint and told my husband to purchase KILZ primer to use as paint for our walls in our house. There are line marks, drip stains everywhere! Michael promised us a $1500 coupon on future services, but he never answers our phone calls and takes a day to respond to our texts. Meanwhile, our roommates' moving company delivered all their furniture into our ruined home. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY unless it's electrical.

I had been fiddling with some components when a nut fell under the dryer, so I pulled the dryer out from the wall, ripping the duct in the process. I spent a little bit of time doing some DIY diagnosis, removing a couple pieces from the dryer and attempting to remove the dryer vent cover from the exterior of the house. After realizing that it was sealed onto the side of the house and not making much progress cutting through the caulk with a razor blade, I decided it was time to step back and not cause any further damage. Turned to Yelp, sent out a few rounds of quotes; a few hours later Alex showed up. He quoted me a flat rate that sounded good and went to work. Within two hours, he had removed the dryer duct and vent, bought replacement parts at Home Depot, and sealed everything back up. He set it up so that pulling the dryer away from the wall won't break the duct and also gave me easier access to the gas line. I was thrilled to get it all taken care of within a few hours on a Sunday afternoon since not being able to do laundry can be stressful (I still don't understand why my daughter only has one pair of socks for soccer practice). Alex was punctual, very nice, and understanding, not making me feel bad about my DIY efforts. Most importantly he fixed the issue quickly and made it clear that he would stand behind his work. But after a brief chat She asked for me the for the brand name, when I told her it was GE filtration system that needed to be installed under the kitchen sink she still sounded clueless. She said she needed to send someone for $175 dollars visit fee to evaluate the job to be done. When finally she gave me a price quote; she said it would cost me $885 dollars for the new water filter installation. Bear in mind that I already bought the filtration small unit at Home Depot. The connection consist of two hoses. For that price I would rather watch a video in youtube and do it myself. The job should not take more than 20 minutes. This is the problem with plumbers nowadays, car mechanics and handy men alike in general. I feel like they just came out of prison and they are like predators; Just like judges, politicians, doctors are nowadays. When I look for a plumbing business I want to know how much he charges per hour? References? Experience? Reputation? Ethics and Moral character? and the way they treat the customer.
