The ice cream is very good and comparable in price to other establishments. My favorite flavor is Pistachio. It is so light and tasty and the almonds are so soft. I prefer Handels so much more than other local ice cream establishment in Spring!
Love this place. Great vanilla homemade flavor. Nice to sit outside with friends and enjoy a treat
I wish there was a location closer to me bc I love Handel's!! I first discovered Handel's in socal and it quickly became a tradition to get a sampler with my cousins. We always get the sampler to share, but my absolute favorite is graham cracker station. I love it so much that we get two scoops of it in our sampler...it's totally worth it. I wish there was indoor seating, but service is friendly and the line moves quickly.
Whenever we're in the area we like to grab a small treat from here. My partner sticks with the dark chocolate with chocolate chunks ice cream. It's very creamy and not bitter! For me I like changing flavors and this time around I opted for pistachio. Honestly, it was fantastic because it was light and the right amount of pistachio flavor to where I could keep enjoying it without being sick of it. There's pistachio nuts in it too! My favorite hands down is still Monkey business. The location has plenty of parking and it's easy to access. Service has always been timely and everyone is friendly here. Price is about average for dessert ice cream shops. The only reason why I placed it as a 4 star is sometimes the ice cream comes out already partially melted; which makes it much harder to avoid a huge mess when it's already hot out!
This ice cream shop in Garden Oaks is pretty unique in that they offer drive through service and a walk up window. There are picnic type tables out front but you can't physically walk inside the shop. They have many flavors to choose from that aren't normally offered by other chain ice cream shops. You can only get 1 flavor with a small so I opted for a medium to try 2 different flavors. The praline pecan had a good amount of pecan pieces and was oozing with caramel flavor. The mocha almond fudge ripple was a perfect combination of a light coffee flavor mixed with chocolate. The vanilla with Oreo was your typical cookies and cream flavor but had plenty of big cookie chunks. Overall I'm happy to have a drive thru option because it's super convenient when you don't want to get fully dressed to go inside a shop, however it would be nice to have an indoor seating area because ice cream does not stay frozen at all in Houston heat. My cone started melting very quickly and running down my arm and all over the floor so I had to toss or before I could finish to prevent making a bigger mess. I would for sure visit again but maybe only in the drive thru, until summer is over.
I got the Cappuccino Chocolate Chip. The small portions are still pretty big there so no need for a bigger size unless there is multiple people. I love coffee ice cream and they satisfied my craving for sure! It was a hot summer night so people were in line but the line was moving and it is only walk up so there is not inside.
This was my first time trying Handel's. I observed a really good selection of ice cream flavors and mix-ins. I enjoyed the Cookie Dough Hurricane, which had both chocolate chips, and of course, cookie dough. There was not enough cookie dough however, and too many chocolate chips, but otherwise good. Would also be nice if they had a drive through. Also not clear that they have trained the employees to have a positive demeanor or upbeat presentation when it comes to customer service. However, overall, I enjoyed it.
Wow so many flavors of ice cream and generous portions! We stumbled upon this ice cream shop trying to kill some time and it happened to be a place my talks about in Dallas all the time. You walk up to a window to order and they have various cones or you can get ice cream in a cup. We ordered the strawberry ice cream and mango sorbet. Both were huge and really good. We would order them again. Only draw back is it is outdoors, so when it is hot outside it will be awful in the Houston heat. Also, view is of a busy street which isn't so great. The ice cream is good though, so would go again the next time we are on this side of town.
First off, it was hard to find this place at night, since the building sign lights were not working. I thought it was closed, I walked to the window and I didn't see anyone inside, I had to walk away and come back before someone was inside. (Outside only Handel's). The kids working there were polite, I ordered Graham central station and blueberry cobbler by the pint, I also got a butterfinger hurricane. It took them a while to get the order going, maybe new people? It would be nice if they illuminated the sign. Would make the place a lot easier to find. But the flavors are always amazing! Will always go to this company, just this place was a bit slow.
BEST Ice cream in the area hands down! Better prices than similar Ice Cream offerings locally. Extensive list of flavors, something for everyone! I'm so glad Handel's is so close to us because everything is DELICIOUS. Delicious and not overdone. Some places with a large variety of flavors add too much to them. These guys keep it simple so the combinations work. There's many ways to enjoy your favorite flavors. Order by pint, dish, cone (waffle, cake, sugar), Hurricane (like a Blizzard), or have a super thick shake. The sampler is a great value if you can't decide. It's also a great option to order and bring home to have some for later if you're ordering for one. They've even got Dogsters for your favorite furry companion. Our favorite flavors: Chocolate Cake Batter- 100% reminiscent of licking the beaters while baking with Memaw. Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk- Filled with CHUNKS of actual cheesecake, graham cracker crust and all. So decadent. Blue Monster- Blue Vanilla Ice Cream with Oreo and Chocolate Chip Cookies mixed in in perfect balance. My little boy loves it and I love to steal a bite lol. Pistachio- I ADORE THIS. it's not overly sweet like some brands and it's got the perfect amount of almonds. French Silk Pie- The title explains it perfectly. Tastes just like a slice of pie. Deliciously chocolate and perfectly rich. As far as ambience, this is a walk up and order, not an indoor restaurant. There are tables outside for when the weather's right. If it's cold or rainy just do what we do, grab extra napkins and enjoy it the car with some good tunes. Service-we've been there when it's packed and when it's quiet. They were welcoming, helpful and kind every single time. Before our first visit I called them to get some information and the guy on the phone took the time to answer my questions and offer up lots of info. Hit up this delightful spot anytime you've got an ice cream craving!! You'll be sure to love them as much as we do. Open til 10pm. ENJOY!!!
Stopped by Handel's after a movie. The line moved fairly quickly and my husband ordered a Snickers Hurricane and I had a Caramel Latte milkshake. Both were super tasty and reasonably priced in my opinion. It's a chill atmosphere with a pretty view of the fountain. We'll definitely be going back!
This was our first time at Handel's. We had to try it. I mean, who doesn't like ice cream?! Pros: There was a good selection of ice cream flavors, milkshakes, floats, and malts. We came at a good time because there was no line. The Cookie Dough Hurricane was good. I liked the chunks of cookie dough and chocolate chips. Cons: The decor and outdoor seating was slight. There were only 2-3 outside tables. Also, I noticed there wasn't a drive thru option at this location. I definitely prefer Brusters Ice Cream when it comes to presentation, ambiance, and convenience.
Handel's is a walk-up ice cream shop with plenty of delicious flavors to choose from. My go-to flavors are Coffee Chocolate Chip and Ooohh... Dough! It can get busy on Friday evenings and weekends, but the line moves quickly thanks to the incredible service. The staff is always kind, friendly, and very generous with the scoops. There is a small outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your treat, or you can order it to go. If you are looking for a spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, head over to Handel's! read more

They charge extra for a single cherry (25 cents) and sprinkles (40 cents) on each cone. If we want to be nickel and dimed, we would get our ice cream from the government. They lost a customer for life over a total of $1.30 in 2 cherries and sprinkles! read more

I LOVE Handel's! And so do my dogs. I love that it's just a walk up type of ice cream shop with tables outside if you want to stay and eat. They have so many ice cream flavors to choose from, as well as different types of cold treats. I have only ever gotten ice cream scoops, so I can't speak to anything else they serve. Ever since my parents recommended their sampler to m,e that is all I've ever gotten. It is such a good bang for your buck! It's $6 pre-tax and you get 4 flavors of whatever ice cream you'd like. I always mix and match, but here are some of my favorite flavors: 1. Cheesecake with oreo 2. Chocolate Oree-dough 3. Monkey business 4. Mud pie 5. Salty caramel truffle 6. Strawberry cheesecake chunk They also have vegan options. My dogs like coming here as well because they also serve doggy cups. I've taken them here on numerous occasions and sat outside while we ate our ice cream. I highly recommend Handel's! read more

When they say they are generous.. they mean generous! Staff was friendly and patiently waited for us to sample everything. They have a ton of flavors. I recommend the cherry magnolia if you like cherry chunks! I also recommend sharing or getting a bowl because the servings are huge and the icecream melts quickly (especially in the texas heat!). There is no indoor seating, but plenty of parking and standing areas. read more

Looking for an after dinner dessert spot or a place to bring the kids this summer to cool down from the Texas heat...Handel's is the place. Located in front of Kroger's, Handel's is a walk-up ice cream eatery with 40+ flavors to choose from. The menu can be terrifying at first, but they do offer samples...don't be shy, ask for that sample. Decided to be adventurous, we ended up getting the Sampler which consists of 4 flavors of your choice in a plastic container. We chose Monkey Business (my new favorite), Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk (least favorite), Cake Batter, and Butter Pecan (nothing to write home about). They weren't monkeying around when they made Monkey Business - banana cake batter ice cream with brownie pieces and caramel. Definitely worth a second trip alone just for that flavor. Friendly staff with great customer service and reasonable prices, if you're in the area, definitely worth checking out. read more

I finally got to try their ice cream, and oh man how did I NOT hear about this place sooner? Even on a Tuesday summer evening there was a good amount of people but not surprised since summer has started and hello, Texas heat! It's a walk up ice cream shop with 2 separate windows to order from, they have cute outdoor seating just around the corner with a huge tree wrapped in white lights! There are a few picnic type tables on the other side as well. When you first walk up you're hit with a pretty overwhelming menu, but hey that means there is something for everyone, right? You can choose to have your ice cream in a cup or diff types of cones, either plain or with toppings. 2 people ahead of me still couldn't decide what to choose so I was able to walk right up and I chose the strawberry cheesecake crunch! I loved it, not too sweet and the perfect amount of cheesecake chunks throughout to add that extra cake texture among the creamy ice cream! I can't wait to comeback and try other flavors! If you're looking for delicious, creamy, homemade ice cream, Handel's is for you!! Treat yo self!! read more
