And a few days after that, I received a message from Ose, the owner (the person who lied to me and said my membership was cancelled weeks earlier). She asked to talk on the phone, I said I would love to have the conversation over text. She wasn't interested in having a paper trail of the conversation, so she never "addressed my concerns" like she said she wanted to. Original review: The owner knows why I'm leaving one star, and so does corporate, but I'll fill in everybody else. I came once to try sugaring and really liked my sugarist - Kelly. Her demeanor convinced me to come back and I decided to get the membership because of her. A few months later, I found out she wasn't going to be working there anymore and this would be our last appointment. My membership was already charged on the first of May, and a week later was our final appointment. The day before, Sugaring LA called and confirmed my appointment. I took that opportunity to cancel my membership, I spoke with the owner herself said she had taken care of it. A few minutes later, I received another call saying my sugarist was no longer available. I said I didn't want an appointment with another sugarist, and they offered the appointment for free. When I said I had already auto-paid on the first of the month, the poor receptionist had no clue what to say. She implied that my membership hadn't been cancelled, but I assumed she was incorrect. I said I had to think about it, and we ended the call. The next day, I got an email confirming my appointment with another sugarist. I was annoyed, since I never agreed to that, but it was after the 8am cutoff and I didn't want to be charged a cancellation fee. When I arrived to my appointment, I attempted to use the restroom, and I noticed there was no toilet paper, so I asked for some. My sugarist (who was a new hire and all alone in the studio) said they didn't have any and the owner was aware of the issue. Not a big deal, just odd. Then, when I was undressed on the table, my sugarist realized the room wasn't stocked with the necessary tools and she had to go to a neighboring room. I felt uncomfortable being undressed with the door open, but again, not a big deal. More than anything, I felt bad that this new hire was in such an awkward situation and was seemingly set up to struggle. She did a great job, and was kind, but after all this I didn't trust that my membership was actually cancelled. Spoiler alert - it wasn't. I spoke with reception and they verified that my account was never cancelled, even though I spoke with the owner, Ose, herself. She had simply lied to me. I'm sure she will make any excuse to minimize that fact. Hilariously, after my appointment, they sent me a text asking from 1-10 how likely would I be to recommend Sugaring LA. A month ago, solely due to the exceptional customer service from the hourly staff, it would've been a 10. Now, solely because of the owner's behavior, it's a 1.

I've had a bunch of Brazilian waxes over the last couple years but for some reason still was feeling nervous!
