Miso soup, side salad
Jen H.

The restaurant is well lit with friendly and efficient service. The lunch specials were yummy. They came with miso soup and side salad. They have multiple options. We chose the sashimi one. It came with yellow tail, tuna, salmon, and hamachi. All of the fish were super fresh! We will definitely eat here again!

Wow. Just wow. The bonsai roll is off the charts!

What do you say about a sushi place you stopped at only to avoid traffic?? In the case of Hana you say Holy Sheep Biscuits!!! Really terrific. Full stop.

Sunshine Roll and a Banzai roll in back
Michael H.

Back in town and needed to get my Hana fix. Busy as usual but I was able to get a two spot and enjoy a couple of rolls. The sunshine was good but the Banzai was amazing. Wow. Too late in the evening for green tea so opted for water. I started it all off with a miso which was good also. Interior is the modern Asian fusion decor. Seems lots of college kids were in. Part of being a college town.

We had an incredible first visit here on a whim. It had been a while since I had Asian cuisine in this place came highly recommend recommended on yelp. I can see why. The food came out quickly tasted hot, fresh and delicious. Our waitress was very kind. The restaurant itself was welcoming and clean, down to the bathrooms. The portion sizes were appropriate. I had the lunch portion and it was just enough, but there was even still more for me to take it to go box. I had the steak hibachi lunch portion and my husband had the chicken and shrimp standard hibachi meal. It was a lot of food! I enjoyed everything about our quick lunch here and wouldn't hesitate to return.

We had the Sashimi Moriawase which was great and we will definitely come back to have this again. It's a delicious sampler of 9 varieties of chef hand selected premium seasonal fish. Our favorite was the toro and Uni, but they were all delicious. We also really enjoyed the mackerel, Madai, king salmon, scallop, Kinmedai, snapper, and sweet shrimp. And of course I had the wash it down with a lychee martini The service was on point

Excellent service once they moved is away from the restrooms/kitchen area Lots of parking near the restaurant and by Dave and Buster The ambiance was very casual but nice family friendly. The star of the show was the food, so much delicious food. I can't wait return.

Spicy tuna roll, add cream cheese, cut small.

Always satisfied when coming. Service is always amazing and quick. Food never disappoints!

The restaurant is clean and inviting. The staff is super nice. It was our first time there but it will not be our last. Our waiter was awesome and he answered all of our questions and was patient. We had 3 sushi rolls, one was the Explosion roll, and it was tasty. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and it was delicious. Spouse ordered the curry and it was so good, had a little sweetness to it. At first it seemed a little pricey but once we saw the serving size, we were okay with the price of the dishes.

Hana sushi was good as always. I came here to catch up with a friend and the food was good, service was great, and the ambiance was a lot for a Friday night but that's to be expected. I had edamame, shrimp shumai, and the volcano roll. I ate first before my phone did so that's why I only got one photo.

It's always great food when going to Hana! This time around though the only thing I don't like are the floors!! You can slip, fall, and possibly break or hurt something! Service: We were told 25 minute wait and it was just about accurate maybe less so that was nice. I wish they had more seating for ppl waiting to be seated lol or make it so we can stand at the bar and get a drink. Food: My friend and I got the Golden crab Rangoon to start. Delicious! We shared the following rolls: 1) Spicy Scallops Roll: Delicious! 2) Two thumbs up: also delicious but a little more on the sweet side and just wasn't what my palate wanted that night 3) Lonely angel: the favorite of the night! Ambience: They really need to do something about the floors. It slippery everywhere even in the bathroom! They have a sign but the floors aren't wet it's some time of wax or something. Also, it's kinda gross to sit down and the table top be wet from them cleaning it off. I wish they also dried the table off before seating us

Hana Naruto ( no rice)

Fast service, friendly staff, nice place, good food. The quality of the fish was pretty good, nothing astounding but still enjoyable. I got the salmon nigiri which was decent, and the Hana Naruto roll which was amazing, LOVED that one. I'll definitely be back!

Hana sushi quickly became my favorite place for sushi in Gainesville. The fish is super fresh and every roll I've tried has been amazing. Service is great but it does get really busy for dinner.

Odette E.

On our way back home, we stopped in Gainesville and wanted sushi. Via Yelp, I found this place. Although prices were a bit higher than expected, everything we ordered was really good. We ordered the Salmon Lover, which included soup and salad, Passion Roll (super tasty - although the spicy tuna was not really that spicy), chicken tempura roll, and the usual Salmon/Avocado and Tuna Roll. Overall, fish was fresh and portions were just right. The server was very attentive and informative when questions were asked about some roll options.

I am so glad I tried this place out today. I was craving for a premium sushi rice bowl today, and…read moresaw that this restaurant had a Hokkaido don bowl, which had premium scallops from Hokkaido Japan, sea urchin (uni), and red fish eggs (ikura). Soup was included too. It was a decent size bowl with generous portions of each mentioned fish. It tasted mostly fresh, with the uni having the premium silky flavor, the ikura having the briny pop, and the scallops having the buttery texture with a hint of lemon since they sliced it. The rice was flavorful with the added seasonings. It was definitely a luxury splurge. And best of all, it was a great deal for only 30 dollars. The soup was nothing special, but still refreshing and enjoyable. The service was pretty casual, but quick and friendly. The atmosphere is very casual with a limited amount of tables, and the sushi bar is pretty small. When you enter, you would think it was just a counter service or takeout restaurant. At least there was nice Japanese music in the background. This restaurant is a great example of why you shouldn't judge it by it's atmosphere. While it looks so casual and a little boring, their Hokkaido bowl makes it feel luxurious. It was well worth the splurge and such a great deal for 30 dollars. We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients. For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it. My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that. Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

I once took the matters into my own hands and bought some frozen conch at a local fish monger and beat it down with meat mallet and cooked it to oblivion with vinegar following the recipes from the websites only to find out it was still an impossible rubbery piece so I could not eat. What a sad day it was!!! I can probably cry on demand when I think of that sad death conch dishes all over Gainesville!! Then, it suddenly happened that I was looking at conch on the menu both for salad and for sushi to my absolute delight so I had to order both and they turned out. It was a great suggestion from Eva and Ron who apparently eat there once a week and we owe it to them for the discovery of the restaurant. Now that I know that I have a safety conch blanket here, I am ready to try some other things that looked all very good. My hubby's teriyaki scallops were very good if sushi is not your thang:) This place is so so so great!!!! We were led to a table after what felt like a maneuvering thru a maze to get there. After looking at the menu, my wife opted for their Japchae and I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice. We also ordered Kimbap with bulgogi meat. We were served some banchan prior to our meals and they were fine...3 different types with the kimchi broccoli being my fave. Their Kimbap was quite good! It wasn't served with a dipping sauce but the light soy was adequate. My wife thought her Japchae was just OK. My Kimchi Fried Rice was OK as well. I was so looking forward to trying it with the pork belly meat but thought the flavors were a bit muted when compared to other similar dishes we tried elsewhere. The portions were quite generous so we took home leftovers for later meals. Oddly enough, we both thought our meals were tastier the day after! Lunch for 2 came out to just under $57 with tip. Oh yeah, we never did lay eyes on those bisons nor wild horses. Other hikers informed us we'll have better luck if we come back between January and March, when a lot of the tall vegetation would've died off from the winter cold. We did see a couple of gators sunning along the banks of the Alachua Sink at the end of La Chua Trail.
