We ate outside in their fun piazza and began by sharing the Fried Green Tomatoes and She Crab bisque, and she had the seared tuna bowl, which was so very fresh and just the perfect amount of spiciness. I had the Croissant French Toast with blackberry reduction syrup, and I've never had any similar dish elsewhere. McKenzie was our waitstaff and she exhibited a wonderful mix of knowledge of the faire and enthusiasm for the incredible Chef and his very talented staff. Struggled with doing this review. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave them a 4 Stars. As the appetizer I had the burrata, a tomato and cheese salad. It was delicious! The grape sized tomatoes were blanched which brought out their full flavor. The vinaigrette was perfect and the burrata cheese creamy and flavorful. A 5 stars in my book. As my main course I had the pepperoni pizza and it was a disappointment. Cooked in a wood fired oven and with a thin crust that was charred along the edges which is the way it's supposed to be cooked. The toppings were bland. The pepperoni thinly sliced with hardly any flavor. The tomato sauce could have stood some garlic and spices like oregano. Next time I will order something else if in the area. There are few fine dining options in Sumter. Service and staff were excellent. read more

Not to mention the bok choy and parsnips with some kind of rice and sweet potato cream thing ... awesome Wife - rack of lamb, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, mushrooms and kale. She said it's a 10 out of 10 and in the top five meals she's ever eaten. We split a dessert which was a coconut ice cream in a chocolate shell with a peanut butter chocolate mousse to which she said after the fist bite "I need this in my life every day". This is the nicest restaurant in Sumter and the chef is amazing. I had a scallop and dumpling appetizer in an asian sauce that was absolutely delicious. My barramundi fish entree and the rib eye are world-class dishes. There's a lovely wine list with reasonable prices. We enjoyed a private dinner in the upstairs Rafters, which is a great place to get a drink anytime. Highly recommend this classy restaurant in historic Sumter. read more

The food is superb but the service and ambience don't meet the same standard. We sat on the patio and our table was completely unadorned---no candle, no flower, no placemats--just silverware rolled in white paper napkins. After taking our appetizer plates, the server left our dirty forks and knives on the bare table. The other patrons were extremely loud despite being quite spread out. We decided we wanted a bottle of wine during the dinner but were told it would take a long time to get it. It seems a shame to have food of this caliber--and price--served in an ungracious style. Went just to see how the reviews stacked up against actual experience. First off, let me say the food was excellent. I had the chicken and waffles, and my wife had the eggs benedict. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was significantly offset by the extremely poor service and dysfunctional staff. Once seated, it was around ten minutes before anyone came by to take our drink orders even though five or six waitresses were walking around refilling water glasses. Then another ten or so minutes before anyone came to take our order. Then a much longer wait for the food to arrive. The main dining room was extremely loud and appeared to be staffed by unorganized employees although they were all smiles and very pleasant. Overall, for me, the poor service outweighed the quality of the food and I won't be returning. I truly expected a higher level of service from an establishment managed by a former chef at the Inn at Little Washington. read more

My husband, six year old, and I came on Saturday night at 6:00. We made a reservation, but I'm not sure we needed one. There were only a couple tables seated. By the time we left around 8:20 the restaurant was about 75% full. The restaurant is very pretty; I loved the chandeliers and ceiling. I came for the house-made ravioli so we ordered the short rib ravioli to start. That was my favorite, along with the scallops and shrimp gyoza. My husband and I ordered the cheese ravioli and rib eye. My son got a cheese pizza. For dessert we had the chocolate bread pudding with maple ice cream. Everything was delicious. The scallops and short rib ravioli though - the best! The service was also good. No complaints. I'm sure we will be back. We went just because, but I definitely recommend it for a special occasion. Those with children - bring something to do. My son is well behaved and was fine with some paper and colored pencils from home, but it's a quieter atmosphere so a bunch of loud kids might not be appreciated by other guests. read more
