I had a little staycation here as I had an event to attend at Mccormick place! The hotel is really beautiful but the rooms could use a little updating. I enjoyed my stay and the view was really lovey! I always appreciate a beautiful view of the lake!

Recently stayed four nights at the Hampton Inn Chicago McCormick Place because I was presenting at a conference at McCormick Place. I had a comfortable and safe stay during my visit. Staff that I interacted with were professional, the common areas and my room were well-maintained and clean, and the room itself was more than adequate for a longer stay. This hotel is part of a larger Hilton property that houses three of the company's brands: Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, and the Home2 Suites. Each had their own set of elevators from the lobby. It was an interesting set up, but straightforward to navigate. The hotel was extremely convenient for those attending a conference at McCormick Place as it has its own skybridge connected to the conference center. The Hampton Inn also offered complimentary breakfast each morning that had a decent mix of hot and cold breakfast staples for guests to enjoy. My room was a standard room with two queen beds that had ample space to move around, a good size bathroom, a mini fridge, and several outlets to charge up devices. I would definitely return to the Hampton Inn at McCormick Place again if attending a conference at McCormick Place and the price was right. The location was a little far from many of the touristy spots one may want to visit while in Chicago and this was really the only drawback of the stay (which is more of a personal preference issue). Overall, a good first impression and memorable visit.

Nice fitness room, shared among three Hilton-brand hotels, never got full.

A mixed experience this time: I frequently stay at Hampton Inns, and I'm usually pleased. Clean bright up-to-date hotel sharing a nice spacious lobby and pool with two other Hilton Brands. Lovely view of the lake from upper floors. Ok to good restaurants within walking distance. Felt safe walking to those day and night. The Hampton has a daily hot breakfast buffet, usually eggs and bacon or sausage, sometimes french toast. Always oatmeal or grits, always waffles, pastries, and cereal. Clean rooms. Nice view. Friendly staff. My disappointments were that the breakfast hot-trays didnt keep the food piping hot, more like warm. The eggs were usually on the dry side, whether slightly overcooked or just in the hot-tray too long. That's not so bad. But the tv in the room had no guide, and the engineering staff was unable to fix it over 5 days. It's nice to have over 60 channels, but not when you have to change channels one at a time to see what's on. Our stay was expensive, which was the market price, so ok, but a small discount for no tv would have been nice. I booked through a third party, and this hotel told them the outage was due to Hurricane Helene, which made landfall 1000 miles away, 10-days later. A ridiculous lie. The hotel is nice in most ways, and service was fine except for those annoying unnecessary fails. Update: Hilton reached out to me and helped smooth over the rough parts of this experience. To me, a responsive group is a big plus, so i added back a star.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for business. It's located in downtown across from the McCormick Place with a bridge that connects the 2 buildings. Even though they are next to each other, expect yourself to walk 20-25 minutes from one place to the other. Pros: Pretty good location as there's a starbucks located in the lobby and a few restaurants/bars next door. Service was good for the most part. Only knock is the lady who checked us in didn't acknowledge our Hilton Honors status. Hotel felt clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Good night's sleep. Cons: Besides the check-in process, the only other thing I can mention is the security at night time can be beefed up. There was a transient walking around the street in front and was border line harassing us and others. During the day, security was present but I didn't notice any at night. This hotel is not cheap and you are paying for the location but if you have the budget for it, I would recommend staying here.

Great location across from the Wintrust Arena and easy getaway after my Will Ferrell's Ultimate DJ House Party with Swedish House Mafia. Will be back again for my next event.

This is a hotel opened about 3 years ago so everything feels new. There are 3 Hilton brands in the same building so need to pay attention to which elevator to go up as keys needed for reaching guest room floors and won't work if you are in the wrong one. Corner room 1234 is really nice. Not very big but enough for two. Good views to downtown and west. Firm bed with good pillows and bedding. Room decor has pleasant modern neutral tones. Big bright lobby with lots of seating and nice fire place. Spacious breakfast room with high and low tables on second floor. Very good common areas, great for meeting with friends. Pool very small however, just a soaking pool. Clean laundry room. Breakfast ok with some hot food - turkey sausage a bit dry, ok eggs and good potatoes. Oatmeal is cooked in a pot - would be better to have individual packets. Location near metro but a long walk to downtown. A lot of street noise from the street below at night - cars gunning their engines and playing music really loud when going by - a trade off for downtown views. Parking is valet only ($59) or use public lot behind the hotel (was told it's by the hour or $42 per 24 hours with no in/out privileges).u

BED BUGS
Manj W.

BED BUGS AND THEY DON'T CARE I was greeted on my first night at the hotel with being viciously bitten by bed bugs. I didn't know what was going on. I felt my body becoming inflamed and itching all over at 2am in the morning (having checked in late). I thought was having an allergic attack to something and asked the hotel where the nearest ER was. When I showed the lady at the front desk she suggested I switch rooms. I was wondering how that would alleviate what I thought was an allergic reaction. She obviously had a better idea of what's going on. In any case I got the hospital info and agreed to change rooms thinking maybe it's the detergent on the bedsheets or something. Upon returning to my room to gather my things I pulled back the sheets and discovered these rather large bugs scurrying around. My first reaction was relief that I wasn't about to go into anaphylactic shock and informed the front desk that there are bugs in my bed. I took some photos and videos of the bugs and of the bites on my body and also trapped one of the bugs in a ice bucket to show the hotel. This is when the nightmare escalated. They started using words like "it appears to be", "it may be", "it seems to be", to describe the bed bug bites. Even with the manager on duty the next day holding one in his hand in the bucket. The next 3 days were more "we need to do our investigation", "we have no authority", and basically making me feel like I've made up a story. This policy obviously is dictated from above since the managers on duty all indicated that they have no authority to make make a decision to validate my pain and suffering, offer a apology and some form of satisfaction. Before you spend a $1000 or more on this hotel or it seems any Hilton property think twice and if you are there check your beds carefully before settling in because not only the bugs but the Hotel will make you feel as bad as the bed bugs themselves.

Horrible horrible experience. When checking in, I asked the person at the Front desk if he had a reservation for me and gave him my name. "His response, are you asking or telling me your name!" He then asked me which hotel I was checking in and I told him the Hampton Inn. Again, his response was are you telling me or asking me". Unbelievable!!!!! Rude does not even begin to describe his attitude. Oh, and the public rest rooms were filthy with no toilet paper.

I gave it a FIVE stars because this is a brand new hotel. Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn share the same lobby and check in counter. The staff are very nice and friendly. Hotels rooms are so clean and spacious. My room has two queen beds, separate living space with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The breakfast is temporary on the third floor due to the construction. The quality of food is excellent, sausage and french toasts are very tasty, coffee is smooth and waffles are my favorite. If you are Hilton Gold member or above, then your breakfast is complimentary. I had few experiences with the front desk, M C. was excellent and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Our cat also recommends the hotel.

Normally, that would meet my expectations for a four-star rating. What pushes it to a five, however, was the woman working the front desk, and more broadly, the genuine, go-out-of-their-way warmth of every staff member we encountered, from the security guard downstairs to the ladies managing the continental breakfast. We arrived in the morning, hours before check-in time, planning to drop off our bags so we could explore the city. Instead, the front desk agent offered a great solution: 'What if I check you in early for $25 so you can take your bags right up to your room?' I wouldn't have even thought to ask, and it made our morning seamless. Later, I watched her handle a long line at breakfast with multiple guest requests; she was completely unflappable, warm, and adept at putting people at ease. This may well be my new go-to hotel in Chicago.

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

I haven't been to the Windy City in years, and wanted to have a great experience. Unfortunately, this hotel didn't live up to its reputation in any way. This hotel is sleek and modern, but doesn't give an impression of luxury. It's minimalist, and I found the service to be minimalist as well. The front desk was polite, as were the bell/door staff, but I did not feel overly welcomed. My friend was staying with me, and when we entered our room, the first thing we did was check out the quality of the beds. I saw another review for this hotel, and the reviewer stated that the mattresses felt "hard and cheap". My friend and I, unfortunately, heartily agree with this assessment. In addition, the pillows were far too soft. We were both expecting an exceptional weekend full of rest- instead we were uncomfortable, and tossed and turned. We both agreed we should have stayed at The Westin, as they're known for their comfortable beds. The room could have also used a deep cleaning. There were splatter stains on the curtains, and a smear of something on the chair. The bathroom had mildew in the shower grout, and an old rubber band that was overlooked. The overall room decor was unremarkable. The doors are very heavy to the rooms, and there is a lot of slamming. This is worth mentioning, if you like sleeping in. Additionally, I had a negative experience with a member of the concierge team. I approached this unfriendly individual, and asked for help booking something specific, and they advised me to "call them or book online". So what is the purpose of employing a concierge when they offer zero value? I am not cheap by any means, but when I am spending this type of money for a hotel stay, I expect an exceptional experience. I would never expect to have a mediocre experience at a 5 star hotel, but that is exactly what I received. I wouldn't stay here again, and I wouldn't recommend it to others.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it started with the lobby and bar. It was always overcrowded and noisy, and just didn't feel very intimate or elegant. That followed with the fact there's only one restaurant in the hotel and both times we visited it was nearly empty. It's tucked on the second floor back in the corner, and just feels like a standard obligatory hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was just odd. The room was well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and soft sheets. And the bathroom had everything we needed. But the service day-to-day required follow up. They forgot to restock coffee, water and cups a few times, and when I called the front desk they delivered in a trash bag. We went to use the gym to access the sauna and steam room, but learned that's part of the spa not gym so had to pay a separate per person charge. The spa was refreshing but fairly standard. Not like the Seoul Marriott with multiple heated baths and a cold plunge. Call me spoiled. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice but for $700 a night and knowing what I know about most JW's this just seems slightly below their standard.
