Black cherry and mint chocolate chip (small cones = 2 scoops)
    Kristen E.

Hubby and I were driving from Pittsburgh to Butler and looking for a place to stop for lunch. I wanted ice cream, and he wanted a burger or sandwich. Then I found Hammer's on Yelp, and I knew we had to go there, because that's his last name. We ate our generous small ice cream cones first (two scoops!) and just had enough room in our stomachs to share a 6-inch sub stuffed with turkey and veggies. We sat on the porch listening to the music and watching a steady stream of customers. It was some of the mintiest mint chocolate chip ice cream I have ever had. We definitely would come back if we're in the area. P.s. There should be a discount if your name is "Hammer"!

We stopped by in a whim as we love local businesses. I had the vegan nondairy vanilla custard. It was scoops not soft serve like my son's (see picture). It was the most amazing nondairy dessert I have ever had from anywhere, so creamy you won't be able to notice the difference! My son had the Georgia peach (flavor of the day). He was so knocked out about how good it was. We both wished we lived closer to buy the prepared pints. We also had a Pittsburgh cheesesteak, with peppers fries and coleslaw, and a pepper jack burger with all the trimmings. We stayed parked as the food there deserves your undivided attention. It was so good. We live almost 2 hours away and are already planning our next trip. If you want subs or sandwiches go inside they do not offer them through the drive through. Bring some cash for a tip! They are the only excuse we need to be in the area! The workers were helpful and very kind to 2 people from out of state who had no previous knowledge that there was a Pittsburgh version of a cheesesteak. It's a cute little road side shop that's easier seen when it's on you right side as you are driving. We did notice signs for it on our way past in the other direction. I can't wait gif warm weather to enjoy the outside seating. Don't miss this place!!

Drove by this place for years. Finally decided to stop and try their custard. I ordered a small vanilla and chocolate swirl in a bowl. Tasted very good. A little thicker than regular ice cream. They have a large menu including lunch items. Service was very friendly and fast

Hot fudge sundae. Or ice cream with a tiny drop of hot fudge.

Not bad, but is hot fudge really that expensive? $6.21 gets me a decoration of fudge? Ridiculous. Try to stop a few times a year. Think I'll drive by, suggest you consider doing the same.

Love the Flag flying out front!

Local, good selection of softserve, ice cream and whipped ice cream (blizzards). Seems to be popular with baseball and softball teams.

Today I ordered their spatula, which was the turkey Rachel and french fries. It is a farm to fork restaurant so everything is usually fresh and tasty. The bread on my sandwich was toasted perfectly, and the french fries were hot and crisp. They have napkins, plastic utensils, to go boxes, and a water station located on the wall between the two establishments. You can sit at a table to eat either a low top or a high top or sit at the bar. In summer, there is a nice patio outside. Great lunch stop even if you aren't partaking of the fine beer at Grist House. And if you need more grocery type farm to fork foods... There's always fresh vegetables and fruits that are in season. You can get lots of different types of frozen meats. Their pies are outstanding. Cute setup, lots of flowers on display outside - I wish I could have taken advantage of a BOGO deal. Local goodies available from a bakery, plus various popcorns, soaps and natural products in the back. The canned/pickled area was my favorite area, with a locally made chili crisp, chai maple syrup and creative sauces and salsas - including a dill pickle salsa! Will be looking up some of the brands to see if they do online ordering and shipping. Due to our travel limitations, our actual purchases were scant - but their blueberries were fresh and a good size for the $5 price, my daughter devoured them for the rest of the weekend. Local jerky was a protein packed snack option for the adults. Also snagged some cookies for dessert that really hit the spot. If your schedule allows, check out the restaurant next door - it's their affiliated "farm to fork" concept. Also note the grassy play area and swings if you have a toddler with excess energy to burn off.

The reason it's getting four stars instead of three is definitely the ambience being able to enjoy my meal in the greenhouse is definitely the biggest flex they have.
