I used A Master's Hand for a short, simple punch list of tasks. You know, those annoying little…read morethings that pop up with homeownership. The tasks were things like fixing misaligned closet doors, replacing torn mesh on a screen door, etc. At every step of the way I felt like I was dealing with a professional company. The service man was polite and helpful and completed the work in a timely manner. After the work was complete, they called to assess my satisfaction. I am surprised by the 1 star reviews, given the nature of the industry, I think some people are predisposed to be distrustful and have unrealistic expectations. The company provides a good service and is not just some guy with a tool belt and a truck. A Master's Hand provides handyman services in a professional manner. We talked about the job and scope, assessed how long it should take; the service man showed up, did the work, the work was done well, and I paid them. No issues, nothing to complain about, they did a great job.

The simple project we hired them to do turned into a total disaster…read more The project that should have taken 3 days took 6 weeks to complete and event then was horrible quality. Then they invoiced us for more than twice the cost of the original estimate even after they "took off" some charge for delay and poor communication When we had them out to for an estimate and spoke about the jobs and it was clear that we saw there could need to be additional work added to complete the job correctly once we got started, which should have been included in the estimate. Instead they added more charges later with no explanation. Also On the estimate they simply wrote "materials not included" and never discussed possible costs an then the the cost of materials was 2/3 more than the estimate for the actual work. This is completely duping customers with what their final cost will be! Customers understand there is a cost for materials, which they could include at least a rough number in the original estimate, but if material costs will be almost as much as the work they should include this in their estimate. This is a sneaky, dishonest business practice. Along with the high cost of our materials, we had to pay for every person that came to replace the previous person that did a terrible job. The first person tried to complete the job as a total amateur and ruined what they were meant to improve. Then 3 other workers tried unsuccessfully to complete the job and wasted time and materials to do a horrible, poor quality job, which then had to be corrected by consecutive workers. Finally after 6 weeks the job was completed by a single person in 2 days. Even after all these weeks and people we still have one thing that was working before they arrived and when they finished the left it completely unusable and we have to hire another company to fix what they ruined. By the end when we received the invoice we filed a complaint and they took off a nominal amount but never reconciled the horrible work, time, or inflated charged. If I could give negative stars I would! Do not hire this company!

Terrible communication. Crossfire Construction reached out to me regarding an AC repair. They told…read moreme repairing the AC would be too expensive and said a replacement would be more economical. They came out to my condo and removed the old AC unit and left a giant hole in the wall and made no effort to contact me or made any effort to at least cover the hole temporarily. I asked for recommendations for a new unit and they left me on read for two weeks. I finally realized they had blocked my phone number so I tried contacting them on a different phone. I maintained a respectful flow of communication to Crossfire through text only for them to ignore and block me when I asked them questions regarding the AC unit. The main reason for my negative review is simply for their lack of communication. If they didn't want my business or couldn't do the work then they should have simply said that to me. Instead, my tenants had no AC for 3 weeks because I was waiting patiently for Crossfires response. Blocking a customers number after I had paid them money for haphazard work is wild, childish, disrespectful, and close to unethical. Crossfire has good reviews but honestly, they truly missed the mark on this job.

The first time I had a hidden leak in my garage and they spent about an hour crawling around my roof and inside my garage. Once they identified the problem (which wasn't easy!), they took a bunch of pictures as it wasn't visible, explained the problem AND showed me the issue. They then came out and fixed it the next day for $400 which was a few hours of work with parts (I almost wanted to pay them more as I couldn't believe that is all it was). Fast forward eight months and I had what appeared to be either a roof leak or a window leak. Same experience... they arrived promptly, identified the issue, and fixed it the same day for $300. If you have any sort of roof problems- call these guys! They are timely, very cost effective, and super friendly. I wish all home maintenance companies were this easy to deal with.

PHOTOS ARE LABELED "BEFORE," "DURING," OR "AFTER" WORK…read more This review is more reflective of Florencio as a contractor than the individual subcontractors who performed the work, however we had very little issues with any of the subs and quality seems great. Florencio was very responsive from the get go. He gave me an extremely reasonable quote within a week or so of me reaching out. Overall our renovation project took about 2 months (that was for 2 total bathroom remodels plus taking out an entire wall, a new bedroom floor, and a kitchen backsplash). We took a 2 week hiatus for Christmas and new years and we only allowed one bathroom to be worked on at a time so we weren't without a shower or toilet. Our countertop install was referred out to a different contractor, and we didn't love that experience but that wasn't Florencio's fault at that point. We were responsible for buying all material (it's not included in his quote) but I preferred that. I felt like there was more transparency because I knew exactly where my money was going. We were able to get a much higher quality renovation for the price than we would've with the other companies we reached out to. Anything Florencio's workers had to buy for us was reflected and added to the quote. Otherwise we just paid for the labor. He charges as he goes (we paid a deposit and then paid per room basically). Our best experiences were with Greg doing tile and Raul doing plumbing. Also, his demo and flooring team worked super fast and were as well. We would definitely use Florencio again for home projects! While the workers show up at different times during the day, Florencio always responded very quickly to me when I asked him who was showing up and when. We love all the new work and our house feels brand new thanks to Florencio and his team!

I hired them to re-attach a wood railing to a second-story Trex deck, and they did a good job. I…read moreasked them specifically to attach it in such a way that it did not puncture the roofing, and they were careful to attach it at many points to the Trex without going all the way down to the roof. Before I got to Rodriguez Remodeling, I had contacted directly several other contractors, all of whom either replied that they don't do that kind of work or did not reply at all. Then I tried the Yelp "Request a Quote" feature for a likely contractor (who replied that they do not do that kind of work) but got a response in a few hours from Rodriguez Remodeling. The Request a Quote feature has an option to send your job description to competing contractors as well as the one you are looking at. I've tried this feature a couple of times and it has worked well. The owner, Florencio Rodriguez, came out the next day to inspect the job and sent me a quote a week later. After some negotiation I gave him the go-ahead, and he sent one of his worker out the same day to do the work. So overall I had a very good experience with this contractor. Their only drawback is that they seem very expensive. They charged me about $2,900 for the job, which took one person less than a day and a little bit of materials, which seems very high. On the other hand, I had been trying for several months to get the work done, so I was relieved to have it completed and done so well.

He did let me know that they could do the installation if Home Depot kept delaying. Home Depot tried to schedule me over a month out so I called Mark and he was available within a couple of days. Along with installing the floor, he let me know that he could also take a look at my outside deck which I had told him needed replacing. At the same time as installing the floor, he was able to order and have delivered the wood needed for the deck. Between both projects it took about 2 weeks to complete which was absolutely amazing. Don't use this contractor is the best advice I can give you. We sued him as he failed every aspect…read moreon the project from roofing, concrete, framing, painting, cabinets and he causes damages to your property as he has no regard for your property and so much more. The engineer report from both his engineering company and ours, confirms this complete debacle and subpar damaged work. In addition Jimmy (James Hoyt) sued all his subs. To retaliate he filed false complaints against the county on us, he filed a malicious mechanics lien which he had to dismiss because he had no proof. He never proved the expenditures we gave him so he pocketed the money which is basically unjust enrichment or could be civil theft. You have to testify under oath to the validity of the mechanics lien when you go to file it so the guy lies under oath. He had to dismiss two other frivolous lawsuits he filed against us all because he had no proof as they were in retaliation. He is a horrible deceitful contractor and extremely unknowledgeable that causes more damages than good. He damages other parts or your property by not protecting it as he cut our cables for internet, ran into our custom wood fence ruining the gate in two areas, dropped heavy metal objects all over our concrete patio causing huge chips everywhere. His insurance company has offered us a settlement as they don't want to go to trial. He has had his insurance canceled three times per his own words due to shoddy workmanship and he lies constantly. This is what our project looked like after we gave him 2 extensions before firing him. He took money to purchase base case and trim and never brought it to the property, he installed a roof that was 2"off and he claims he has been in roofing for 25 years, he put over 45 chips in our concrete by throwing crow bars on our concrete when digging our post holes, he left unfinished mason work although being paid for it, ran over numerous pieces of metal edging with the mini excavator (even the small one he rented he was too short to operate safely), slopped stain all over our siding and left huge gaps where he installed the posts which he wanted to us caulk because he doesn't know construction and it needed trim installed, LOL! Didn't install stairs or base and case. Left the grounds un-reclaimed and it was in the contract for him to do so. Left at least 9 more cabinets unfinished like this one and paid his friend the full amount of his invoice. Never installed the gutters for the utility room, yet being paid for them. The biggest issue is that he hid the junction boxes for the patio lights under the tongue and groove so we were not able to get final inspection signed off on. He did this electrical work himself. Hire this guy at your own risk. Had to have the step jackhammered and replaced because his guys screwed it up and the entire front of the step fell off and then they did it a second time so we had no choice but to fire James!
