Global Basement Waterproofing - Our Crew!

It was a pleasure to deal with them on both occasions. They always returned my calls promptly (within 24 Hours). They arrived to the job site on time on the day that they said they would (can't say that for most contractors). Best of all they left the area they worked in cleaner than they found it. Robert was upfront about any complications they ran into and layed out my options before making any final decisions. I was very satisfied with both the waterproofing and the install of the door. No leaks at all since the system was installed about 1 year ago. I recommend using this company and plan on having them do some more work for me when the time is right. This company is trustworthy as you can tell from the A+ rating. Two thumbs up.

Bob recommended a new type of drainage system and did an excellent job installing it. The way it is designed, it is highly unlikely that my basement will ever flood again. It looks very good and is hardly noticeable. They did a thorough clean-up after the work was completed. All this was done at a very reasonable price. Bob and his crew were very pleasant and easy to work with. I highly recommend Global Basement Waterproofing and would definitely use them again.

Pioneer Basement Waterproofing - iBIS Switch - Reliable Sump pump switch

Pioneer Basement Waterproofing

We live at the top of a hill, and we've all heard water runs downhill so we shouldn't have a leaky…read morebasement problem, right? Ha! After watching the (ground level) window well in my front yard fill entirely with water one incredibly rainy day about three years ago when I happened to be in the "cellar," and then let go with all of the water seeping around the frame and down my wall... well I finally understood that damp & musty smell my basement always had. Btw, the spot is not directly under the window but off to the side which is why I always thought water was seeping in through the foundation on the side wall where the stain mostly is (water does move downhill haha). Pioneer Basement responded quickly, gave me several options and quotes, and made financing easy. We decided about two years ago to waterproof only part of the basement since that's the area that is usually damp. We also went with the thermal vapor wrap on that part of the wall, and added the dehumidifier which was optional but recommended. Completely solved our problem - and ended the musty scary haunted basement stink entirely. Fast forward to now. I'm again randomly in the basement (for an internet wiring issue) and notice the absolute faintest but-still-I'm-not-imagining-it damp smell. Yup, after another of the crazy rains we've had this year, and... not at a wall but once again about a foot away from another ground level basement window, a small puddle. Of course, it's at a spot without the drain, sump pump, vapor wrap we'd invested in for part of the basement. Once again, Pioneer Basement sent an estimator over within a day or two - polite, knowledgeable, and quick to deliver multiple quotes (finish the full perimeter, do a smaller portion, consider adding window enclosures to tie into the drainage system...) and financing options. This is a company that delivers a high quality critical product, with a great warranty, at a fair and equitable price. They offer exceptional customer service. Your basement will thank you for having them do your waterproofing. And you'll never need to be scared of opening that cellar door again.

During the free estimate, the president agreed to add a 3-way valve to the exhaust line outside the…read morehouse and said he'd do the favor of patching a few 3"x3" holes in my foundation wall. The valve wasn't installed, and the holes weren't patched. When I asked why, he said it wasn't in the written quote, and instead of adding it where we'd discussed, he offered to draw up a new design: a valve on the installed line inside the house, plus an entirely new pipe run to the outside. A small addition became a new project, which felt like an upsell rather than honoring what he'd agreed to. The scheduling coordinator didn't call the day before to notify me that they had to reschedule the install, so I took an unnecessary day off work. The installation had problems: the new concrete around the pump and overflow ports aren't level. When they were drilling the hole in my wall for the exhaust pipe, I watched the drill bit break through the bottom 1/4" of a siding board and a 6-inch chip flew off. They glued it back on with caulk, but it wasn't flush. From the basement, I confirmed that there was room to drill the hole cleanly through another board without chipping it. Measuring from the top of the foundation wall would have shown them that, but it looks like they didn't. A manager did a walk-through afterward but didn't inspect the work itself, only photographing the working shut-off system and the exhaust hole from inside. In fairness, the pump works and the exhaust pipe doesn't leak. But the unkept promises, communication failures, and missed details are why I can't recommend them.

Professional from beginning to end! This is the second home…read morein which I've used Dryzone Basement Systems. My positive experience with the first home in Quincy, more than 15 years ago, was so professional and positive that I didn't need to repeat all the research I had previously done. My 1st home didn't have a pump previously, but water came into my basement and I panicked. I never worried about it again. My new home in Rockland already had an antiquated pump without a battery back up. What good is a pump if the power goes out and you don't have a back up? Plus the outflow piping was not freeze proof and was just a flexible hose. The replacement pump is in, as well as the dehumidifier/air cleaner which feeds right into the pump. It doesn't look at all like anyone was here working today. They called to confirm the day before, they called when they were on the way, they showed up and did an outstanding job. I can't even see where the lawn was dug up to bury the out flow pvc pipes. I'm beyond impressed and finally feel secure about moving furniture into my finished basement.

Worst Contractor Experience Ever - Avoid DryZone Basement Systems / All Things Basementy…read more I had the single most egregious contractor experience of my life with DryZone Basement Systems (the local All Things Basementy provider) on my Massachusetts property. I hired them to clean out my crawlspace, which had an older vapor barrier, and upgrade it to a new vapor barrier system. Their sales pitch and materials specifically promised that the space would be thoroughly cleaned before any new material was installed. On the first day the crew began laying the new vapor barrier directly over the existing dirt, debris, and old vapor barrier without cleaning anything. I immediately stopped the project and contacted management to request a different crew that would actually do the job properly. Management promised they would send a project manager and that he would be on site the whole day on day two while the crew cleaned. What actually happened is that the project manager was only there for about 20 minutes. While the crew was supposedly cleaning out the old material, they only cleaned a small section and then covered up all the remaining old debris and old vapor barrier with the new material -- doing exactly what I had already complained about on day one and had been assured would not happen. To make matters worse, the crew spray-foamed rodent bait stations directly into the side of my house. It was obvious this was done deliberately and in a retaliatory, vindictive manner after I had complained and stopped their work. At that point I fired them. I lost my entire $6,000 deposit and had to hire another crew to rip out everything they had done. The cost to remove their improper work and start over was more than the original contract amount. I ultimately had the crawlspace properly cleaned and the vapor barrier upgrade completed correctly through the Mass Save program. This company showed zero respect for the homeowner's instructions, broke their promises about oversight, and acted dishonestly even after management got involved. I told them in no uncertain terms that they would never be allowed back on my property again. Strong recommendation: Do not use DryZone Basement Systems or any All Things Basementy contractor under any circumstances. They charge double the competition (or more) while promising quality but delivering substandard work. If you need crawlspace cleaning, vapor barrier upgrade, or encapsulation work, hire a dedicated cleanup/restoration crew separately (Servpro or equivalent) to get the space truly clean and ready, then have the new vapor barrier installed through Mass Save or a reputable local contractor. You will save yourself an enormous amount of money and avoid massive frustration. This was by far the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Learn from my mistake.

All the bricks were pulled up and the highest standards used to reset and set brick. A cement curbing under the brick not only secured brick but provided a means for directing run off water. See the before pictures for the chimney, I don't have one handy for the steps, but the mortar was missing from between a lot of the bricks, and the limestone slabs were wobbly and not adhered to the step anymore. Chris responded to the request quickly and came out for an assessment, providing estimates both for a repair and a full rebuild of the front steps, and a repair of the chimney. Both very reasonable and in line with estimates from other businesses. We spoke last Friday, Chris had the formal contracts to me by Sunday, and the team was here first thing Tuesday morning working on the steps. They worked quickly but thoroughly, and were on to the work on the chimney by mid-day Wednesday. Once they were up there, they noticed some issues that weren't visible from the ground view, and Chris walked me through it with the photos and quickly got a revised estimate for what it would look like to do a rebuild of the chimney versus the repair, while also indicating that they COULD still do just the repair, but recommended rebuilding, since he knew we'd be looking to also redo the roof soon. They managed to do the full take down of the chimney to just a few bricks below the roof line and rebuild it back up by the end of the day Thursday, and came back Friday just to install the rain cap and clean up the the materials from the demolished chimney and stairs. Our new steps and chimney look great, and I'll definitely be keeping Kings' contact on file for paving/masonry/foundation work we might need in the future!
