Went here for dinner and it was trivia night. Lots of people, but no wait for a table, the music wasn't too loud and our waitress Olivia was super nice. Had the appetizer steak bites which are very tasty (just wish there were more for the $18 price) and my husband had a burger which he loved, perfectly seasoned and an actual burger that was more than a 1/2 inch thick. I ordered fish and chips. It was probably some of the best I've ever had, lightly breaded but not the usual tempura batter (you know, the stuff you bite into and it's soft and white on the inside or completely falls off the fish). I see 2 different locations of Hamlin Pub in Rochester Hills so I'm posting this on both because this is a very serious matter that the public needs to know about and be handled immediately. Are you guys going to respond to the alleged sexual predator issue going on with your head manager Jacob Wutka or what? A post (the text in quotes below) is circulating around, there are plenty of comments from past employees corroborating your guys hiring of and keeping predators employed and these comments talk about this issue being existent years ago. Jake was charged with having sensually charged contact with a minor under the age of 18. Service at the bar has been getting worse in the past two years. Tonight was the last opportunity they will have to serve me. Dinner and the salad were served at the same time. Salad was in a warm bowl which wilted the lettuce. She did not bring silverware so couldn't eat it anyway. Ten minutes to get her attention, at which time she said she would get to me in a minute. By the time she came, dinner was cold and salad was uneatable. Kitchen's fault not hers ... Whatever, she was loud and obnoxious when I complained. We've always have the ordered the gallon of the Chicken n Dumpling Stew. Always had 4 quarts order for the gallon of this soup. Was a staple in our home for over 30 years. Now upon ordering I received 4 quarts that were only half full so a half gallon, but charged a gallon size and accustomed if taking soup Out of each container standing there. No matter what you order the food is always great! The waitresses and bartenders are always super busy but they seem to get the job done and still have a smile on their face. Loved the new remodel, had high hopes for becoming a regular if not for the Flys swarming the place, and the food being extraordinarily "meh, " with super tough chicken in the Chicken sandwich, and tiny little pieces of steak in the Steak Salad, served with wilted lettuce. This used to be my favorite place for casual food and happy hour. No longer. I have been several times in the last few weeks. The menu has changed as have the portions. I used to order lake perch on Fridays. Lake perch has changed to some other kind of perch - probably ocean perch. Lake perch is more expensive, but the price is the same. I have ordered fish and chips both full and half order $12, full $14. Full order was 3 pieces, half two pieces. Now full order is $16 with only 2 pieces of fish; half order is 1 piece of fish for $12. None of these changes is mentioned on the menu. I have also ordered the southwest cobb salad. Most recently the chicken was Minuscule . Looked like about 10 pin-head pieces, rather than the previous several large pieces of cubed chicken. Price is the same. Hamlin Pub must be in financial straights to have sacrificed quality and quantity. Might as well go to McDonalds or White Castle; the food is better. Stopped by for a beer and some take-away. Sun was out. Folks were friendly and chatty. Beer was cold and tasty. Food came really fast and I got to hang for a bit with the locals while I finished my drink. Once I got the food home it was still warm and just about perfect. Fish n chips, always a winner. This restaurant in Rochester hills has the rudest and unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. They ignore you when you walk in and when you ask for anything they act like you're bothering them . The manager is definitely in the wrong profession he supports their behavior. On one occasion there was hair in the food and all they did was replace it. Definitely not an establishment I would recommend. The staff also gossips and talks about patrons. read more

This place was halfway decent. Irish pub with TV's playing the football games all around. We seated ourselves when we got in, and I wasn't sure what to expect after arriving. The place could definitely use a facelift, that's for sure. Plenty of seating with a decent menu. We went with Sliders and were happy with how filling they were. Service was fine, and everything was okay. The place was kind of dark but we could still see what was going on. I imagine a different crowd comes in later on in the evening, but we were there during dinner hour. Some were eating, like us, others were having a drink at the bar while we all watched the game. I think aside from a decent facelift inside, this place seems to be the corner bar type. Nothing bad but nothing exciting either. I would come here if I just wanted to grab a drink alone or something, and not be bothered. Maybe grab an appetizer as well. I don't know if they have happy hour specials, but they do carry a decent selection of drinks to choose from. If your looking for fancy swag, this may not be your place. Great food and good service, my daughter loves the chicken and dumplings when she's sick. They have delicious burgers. My parents love their sliders and pizza. They have a great beer selection. When my grandfather was dying my family would come together at Hamlin pub for a few nights a week for some good comfort food. They helped us get through a tough time and provided great food. Went there specifically for the perch dinner that I heard was good and reasonably priced. Walked in on a Friday night, not too busy and sat down. Proceeded to wait about 15 minutes before my husband went up to a group of waitresses near the bar and asked them if we could be served. In the meanwhile, our waitress had walked up to a couple at a bar table and asked for their drink order within a minute of them sitting down. The waitress was very apologetic when she finally came over to our table and took our drink order. I ordered perch and my husband ordered sliders off the happy hour menu. The perch dinner was lukewarm, although the perch was tasty. My husband said the sliders were okay. We both understand in these trying times that getting people to work is difficult. I always tip at least 22%, if not more for really good service. I appreciate that people are coming into work and that I can go out to dinner because of that. With that being said, there are many restaurants with better service and better food, so we probably won't be going back. Unless of course I'm craving perch and want it cheap. read more

The food is very good for when you're in the mood for traditional American bar food. We had the steak tips and Jim Beam Bacon Burger. I was impressed with the steak tips because the blue cheese wasn't overwhelming, and it complimented the steak and the buttery sauce, 10/10. The Burger was a bit sloppy with the amount of BBQ sauce for me, but my friend loved it and he likes BBQ more than I do. Our waitress didn't check on us after our food was served, so after 15 mins of being done eating without seeing her, I asked someone else for our check, and he profusely apologized and gave us a small discount for the wait. This was great, service is key for me, but we all have busy nights, and the fact that the manager took care of it politely really spoke volumes to me about the leadership at this place. The atmosphere was good, the music is loud and the place is always crowded. I don't recommend sitting by the stage unless you're a die-hard fan of that day's band because you won't be able to have a conversation at all. We sat for 27 minutes (we happen to know the exact time since they called us) waiting for someone to greet us at our table, no one ever came. My coworker and I ordered the Angus Classic burger via door dash. It was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! The description says premium Angus beef, so does the frozen burgers at Walmart (they actually taste better). I was expecting a fresh burger but by the shape and texture of the burger its clearly a cheap frozen patty. The burger was not cooked to the temperature I requested, I did not receive the fries ordered and they were cold. Condiments would have been nice also. Ended up throwing the food in the trash. We called the restaurant to voice our concerns and the person who answered basically didn't care.
