What I received as Corn Beef and Cabbage!
    Gene S.

Just got this Corn Beef & Cabbage from the new Hamlin Pub off Garfield Road. (Over cooked ham and dry potatoes and dry cabbage) Absolutely HORRIBLE for $21! DO BETTER! Looks like it's been sat for hours!!! Left photo is what I received and Right photo is what they advertised!

First off, it is BEAUTIFUL in here!! Classy and brand new, not too dark. They spent $ making this into a wonderful space. We're still here but I wanted to make sure I typed this up and didn't forget. It was a long anticipated road waiting for them to open. I only say that because I'm sure others will complain and bring that up. There's always more obstacles when opening up a business that the general public doesn't know about though. Let me say- it was worth the wait! Our server has been so attentive and sweet. The mozzarella sticks were better than average, but nothing to brag about (would order again). The beers were cold and tasty- and only $4.25 for a tall beer of the month (Labatt Blue Light). Nashville hot boneless wings were good quality and sauce was tasty. Spinach & Artichoke Dip was really good! Chips were great too. Peanut Butter Pie was so good! Game day specials & weekly happy hour deals & daily specials are nice.

It took forever to open but they did a really nice job. By far the nicest Hamlin pub. Standard pub grub, I like the hot Italian sandwich. Service was good and I wasn't at the bar for a change. Not ready to add it to the circuit but that is a possibility, but maybe not as the menu is limited.

It's unfortunate about the service is just as horrible. It's the newest location as the long-standing location near 23 and Hayes.

It's a little dark inside but the big front windows let light in. We chose the sit at the U shaped bar and met our bartender, Shelby. She was a lovely guide helping us newbies choose beers, wine, and food. It was happy hour which gave us a small discount on beers and the breadtzels. I sampled a few beers and started with an orange sangria. Was a little sweet for me. Went back to the watermelon lime cream ale which was better. Happy to learn none of their cream ales contain lactose. She recommended the breadtzels which were tasty. Even offered to remove the butter if I wanted. There wasn't much on the menu that was plant based so good thing I didn't come there to eat. Excited to come back and try more of their creations. Thanks for the friendly welcome and great service Shelby!

Beer is also really good. love the Alaskan Sister Wit. Super easy to drink. The service has always been friendly. It feels like a place with a lot of regulars, which gives it a welcoming, neighborhood kind of vibe. The space itself could use a little love. It's a bit outdated, kind of dark inside, and the tables are usually a little sticky. They also close off some tables later in the evening, even when it's not that busy, which can be confusing. Still, we keep coming back. The food and drinks are good, and the staff is kind. Just hoping they give the place a little refresh to match the good stuff coming out of the kitchen and taps.

It doesn't feel thrown together at all. The finishes, the vibe, even the way everything flows... it's just nice. And the outdoor patio?? Huge. Like, you can actually breathe out there and not feel packed in. I love that there are different levels with bands and different energy depending on what you're in the mood for. That said... the upstairs is LOUD. Like borderline "I can't hear the person next to me" loud lol. Maybe I'm just getting old but wow. Drinks are where they shine. Stick with beer or whiskey and you're golden. Food used to be rough, not gonna lie, but I gave it another shot recently and it was actually really good this time, so that was a pleasant surprise. Service has always been solid for me. Nothing over the top, just consistently good. Overall, it's one of those places you go knowing you'll have a good time, even if it gets a little chaotic. I'll def keep coming back.

It took 20ish minutes to get drinks and refills. I had asked for a water several times and we had to end up sharing. We got chicken tenders, poutine and pierogi for appetizers. The poutine and chicken tenders were both amazing! The chicken was fresh and very good quality, it seemed to be hand breaded. The poutine had great flavor also! The pierogi was dry and not great, so I would skip those next time. For dinner I ordered the mac and cheese and French onion soup. The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible. The Mac and cheese was also disappointing. I thought it would be baked or have a sauce and it didn't. It reminded me more of a kids meal (but with adult prices) and was a small portion. Husband got the fish and chips and he enjoyed them, but said he wished they gave malt vinegar with them. Overall the service was slow and some dishes were great and some were not so great.
