Excellent service refitting me for new shirts purchased since 2015. Confirmed previous shirts ranging from ten to over twenty years had shrunk. Fitted me for a trial shirt followed by further adjustments. Though COVID's impact reduced the selections, ones selected were similar to past orders. The shirts like others had double pleated pockets. How they always impress many people makes them a great value. Hopefully, there will be future orange striped broadcloth fabric on white background for die-hard Texas Longhorn fans. Overall, a somewhat disappointing experience. Background: I moved a few years ago from a coastal city and was recently looking for a new tailor in Houston. I was pretty excited to find a well regarded shirtmaker in Houston and decided to try having a shirt made for a friend's wedding before fully committing (there is a 5 shirt minimum for bespoke, where they cut a new pattern for you). Prices starts at $290, higher end fabrics for $335. MTO allows fairly limited customization. You essentially try on their ready made shirts and are only allowed to adjust collar size, sleeve length and chest size. Other basic adjustments like waist size, arm size are not allowed (they do tell you this before you commission the shirt). Pros: Good fabric Pretty quick from payment to build (roughly 3 weeks for me) Good location - easy to get to and ample parking Cons: Limited customization (as above) After sales support - If you get an MTO shirt, whatever they make for you is what you get - no changes, tweaks or anything. I was a little surprised given how much Hamilton references the "Perfect Fit Guarantee" on their website No in house shirt tailor - I was very confused by this. I pointed out 2 things I wanted to change and was open to paying an upcharge for alterations. I was essentially told "We don't have an inhouse shirt tailor, we only have an inhouse suit tailor. You can go to the tailor you normally use for alterations." read more

It can be very hard to find shirts that fit me well. Because of this I normally buy a nice shirt and then have it altered to fit me better and more comfortably. It got to a point where I was spending more and more just to have nice shirt. The problem is finding something that fit decently and also was made of a nice fabric and color. So one day after visiting my favorite store, Nordstroms, I came upon the oldest company in Houston..Hamiltons. Which just happens to be a clothier. You can have a shirt made specifically to your every comforts and with beautiful and long lasting fabric. So instead of going often to Nordstroms to see whats new in that month, I can go to Hamiltons and pick the color I like and have it fit perfectly! You will spend a small fortune for these shirts, but well worth every penny. Thank God for Hamiltons and even better that its a local company. Fun Fact: These shirts are so well made that Barneys New York sells them as well as many other fine establishments across the US. Not bad for a clothing company from Houston. Update: Hamilton Shirts reached out to me and offered to adjust the fit of my shirts. I brought them in and they adjusted side and sleeve issues. I ordered a new shirt and received better idea on collar size, style etc. They have restored my faith in customer service and I feel they will definitely stand behind the quality of their work and reputation. Christina was a pleasure to work with and very helpful. I bought my first set of Hamilton shirts a year ago, 5 of them. The shirt fit is good but could be better. I am generally pleased with the shirt, but the experience wasn't what I was hoping for. They did not have much advice to offer for other than just saying "this is what most customer's get" and I felt like I was bothering the tailor by having her come from the sewing room to measure me. I was given a gift certificate to this shop and was really looking forward to it, not just for myself, but my husband gets his shirts custom made somewhere else and thought if this works out he can have them made here. I went in to get fitted and my sales person was mediocre with me at best. Instead of seeing the potential of a possible new client/clients I was treated as a one off and probably she would have been happier if I was male. My shirt was ready 3 weeks later and did not fit right. I brought it back in and spoke with someone else who said they would call me back soon. Its now been 6 weeks since I brought the shirt back. I called a bit over a week ago to find out what was going on and was told my sales person would call me back and I've still heard nothing. I will call again next week but this is the last time I'll ever shop here. Not worth your time or money - give to other local shops that care to have your business. And word of advice to the shop, treat people with respect, you never know who you're talking with and you're never too good to be kind. read more

I made a 4 hour trip to the Houston workshop to get a custom shirt made. After all GQ said it was worth traveling to Houston for. Upon arriving I was told that custom is only possible if ordering a quantity of 5. That is the kind of information that should be on the website. For a quantity of one, only made to measure is available. I can get that at my local menswear shop, Hurwitz, with free alterations for a MUCH cheaper American made shirt. Hamilton's made to measure only includes two length possibilities, neck circumference, sleeve length, and slim or trim waist. They are all made to order so why so few choices? For that price, the customization, is not much better than off the shelf from a mall or somewhere. After my 4 hour trip I decided to go ahead and buy one but at this point I was kind of just buying the brand name. In addition, I was kind of treated like I wasn't going to buy anything. The didn't even finish taking the order before they had me pay. They were a little nicer after I paid. I hope my shirt is really great when it arrives because the experience in the store left a lot to be desired. read more
