I drove up to the new Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Hamilton Township, NJ and, miracle of miracles, pulled straight in. No waiting. No line of cars idling like livestock outside a slaughterhouse. Douglas explained the routine calmly, like people who had done this before and survived. I was told I would wait in my car during the service, asked if I had any questions, and then gently guided into the bay as if I were a guest of honor rather than a 9 year old Kia with trust issues. Douglas and another unseen companion in the pit got right to work on the car while the Assistant Manager, Dev, a young woman who clearly understands both oil and humanity, went over my options and gathered my information. And here's the thing that separates this place from many of your standard quick-lube joint full of mystery and regret: the staff are working right in front of you. No back rooms. No shenanigans. No "sir, your flux capacitor is leaking." They pulled the engine air filter and, at my request, the cabin air filter, held them up like evidence in a courtroom, and explained their condition plainly. They made recommendations based on mileage and service history from CarFax, told me the pricing up front, and somehow managed to make the sales pitch so low-pressure it practically apologized for existing. The entire process took maybe twenty minutes. Then I was done. Free to return to the world with clean synthetic oil and a renewed, if fragile, faith in modern civilization. The staff were friendly and professional. The service was fast. The facility was clean. I was beyond pleased, which is not a condition I achieve often or lightly.

In the past, I have been very pleased by the service I have received at Hamilton Midas. Last Fall I…read moretook my car in for service before making a 600 mile trip. They moved my Honda's rear tires and put them on the front and put 2 new tires on the back. When I got to South Carolina I found symptoms of a serious front-end problem. On October 26, 2024, I took my car to a Midas shop in Lexington SC and they fixed my problem. They discovered extremely serious issues that resulted from improperly performed work done at this Midas in Hamilton NJ before the trip. The Midas dealer in SC found 2 broken studs on the left front wheel and one missing lugnut on the right front wheel. All of the remaining lugnuts on the front wheels were loose or only finger tight I talked to Pierre at Hamilton Midas about this when I returned and at his request provided him a copy of the receipt. I told him that I am looking for $838.00 to be refunded for the work that was performed to replaced the broken lugnuts. Because of the great service I have received there in the past, I have been reluctant to post this review. We all make mistakes but I was lucky that the wheels did not come of on I-95. I would expect Midas to make good on the $838 that one mechanic's carelessness cost me. So far I have not received compensation or even $838.

I had an appointment at the Walmart at the Marketplace to installed 4 tires that I bought from…read moreWalmart for Thursday May 4. I got a call asking me if I can reschedule since they didn't have enough t staff. I agreed and schedule for Friday May 5, at 5pm. I got a call saying that the auto shop had flooded if I can come at 4. I told them that I would try. I call to let them know that I couldn't get out to make it by 4. I rescheduled again for Sat May 6, at 8am. i got to the store at 7:30am and the shop with the supervisor didn't get in until 8:15am. I signed in and asked if my tires were in. The supervisor checked and said yes. At almost 9am the supervisor calls me and said that they only found 3 tires. I reminded him that he had verified that all my tires were in. He replied that he had told me yes my tires were in, but he never told me how many. And at this point, I was extremely extremely upset and very frustrated with the service on my car service that I was getting from Walmart. I asked him to please confirm how much it was going to cost me to get the tires installed since I was told they were going to be about $10 apiece at which point he replied that it would cost over $20 for each one. I explained that during rescheduling my appointment I was quoted about $10 apiece and he said to me that he would be more than happy to put my tires in the trunk and I can take them somewhere where they would be less expensive. By this time, I was extremely upset and really frustrated with the service or lack of that I was receiving from Walmart. I told the supervisor that I was going to write to his manager and asked him for his name and he replied it was Walmart. I have had several frustrating events at Walmart at the marketplace, including having two adults, approach me and take food out of my cart, but having an employee disrespect me and provide horrific service takes the cake!!
