Two heading into Glasgow, terminating at Milngavie and Dalmuir and two heading to Hamilton and Motherwell, terminating at Motherwell, Larkhall and Lanark. The staff here are always pleasant, I had a lovely wee chat today. The main building is small and where the ticket office is, which also contains some seating. It's located on platform 1, heading into Glasgow. If you alight, as they say in the train jargon, on platform 2 look out for the two metal African men carrying a boat, I think. Not real metal men then that would be Cybermen. Eep! Anyway, follow the path beside them and head down Station Road and this takes you to the David Livingstone Centre. There's plenty of activity happening down there as they are celebrating his 200th birthday this year. Oooft he's got old. Hehe!

If you're going to the football, this is the closest stop for Hamilton Academicals FC; the track runs right alongside the ground, and you can see the game if it's on as the train goes by. There's also a little retail park here, well serviced with Sainsburys being the biggest shop. There's also a useful Sports Direct, a Watt Brothers (YAY!) and a McDonalds. Yes, you can get your Maccie D's fix here! There's also a cracking wee football pub across the road, and a taxi rank. A handy wee station to remember.

It's quite a nice station. There's a large car park, as well as bike racks and it's staffed but there are ticket machines (although no barriers) available as well. The station has good accessibility and a small coffee shop on platform 1. There are flowers in baskets here and plenty of seating.

There are regular express trains from Glasgow going here that only take 12 or 15 minutes. There are of course cancellations and delays like other train stations, but for the most part it is a reliable train station. The staff at the kiosk are notoriously rude. Or maybe they just don't like me?

Motherwell Rail Station and the surrounding roads recently went under a big upgrade. As such it's…read morenot got ample parking for the traveller, as well as a large pick-up area to pick up or drop off people who are travelling by train. Glasgow Central please take note!!! The people of Motherwell probably don't appreciate their luck at being on the West Coast Mainline as there are hardly ever any people who get on here to go south to England.

This is my local station, and it's pretty simple. There are no ticket offices, coffee stands or…read moreticket machines so it's simply a station with two platforms, one for Glasgow Central and one for Edinburgh. There is a shelter with an information button though, and it usually allows you access to someone through at the Scotrail offices if you need to know about train delays or something. The service is pretty regular, about one each hour at half past going to Glasgow Central, although for some reason it skips an hour at half past 7, which is pretty strange. You can get a 13 minutes past 8 service at nearby Holytown Train Station if that's a problem though.

It is LITERALLY in the middle of nowhere. I had to run to catch a train here, and thanks to a…read morebizarre bridge system that crosses the line, then goes in TWO circles to reach the platform, you get dizzy and out of breath if you're in a hurry. There's no ticket office, a small shelter on either platform, and that's your lot. It's on the main Lanark-Glasgow route, so does get 2 trains an hour in either direction, but I don't honestly think I've ever seen it busy.
