As he points out - this has an impressive view of the city, especially from a train station. However, it is also a view of some of the more urban areas from the city, which means that you can play 'count the high rise flats' while you wait on your train. It also has two entrances and/or exits and one of these does happen to be particularly ill lit later on in the evening. Therefore, I would urge you to use caution if utilising this train station later on. Though, over all it's not a bad train station and does offer needed public transport. Certainly, if you are living in Glasgow for some time or travelling due to work, it's likely that you'll come across here at some point.

It's barely even a station, and more of an lonely,…read moredesolate area with two platforms, a bridge and one small shelter for those "rare" Scottish days of bad weather. This is my local station though, and needs must. I like that trains seem to arrive on time and if the driver sees you running for the train, they'll (mostly) wait for you. I've had some great times standing at this platform, most notably in the snow in negative temperatures and then tramping back home again as the train was a no-show. There's now an extra car park in addition to the one at the station, it's over the road and has a stupidly located exit so you have to go back on yourself to get out and over to the station. Nothing like a mad dash to run for the train first thing in the morning. II'd love it if they upgraded Patterton to make it more like its glamorous neighbour, Whitecraigs. Now this is a fancy station - they even have flower planter boxes and an indoor waiting area. Alas, I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

It's close to the O2 Academy, and on gig night, this place is heaving. Otherwise, it's a pretty quiet stop, pretty small too. There's a bus stop right outside here with plenty of buses running down here like the 45 if you are heading to a gig and dont want to fork out more money for a tube ticket on top of your bus ticket. Plenty of parking space here too.

The Cincinatti Club is a poker club just a few doors up from the station, and as far as I know the only poker club in Glasgow (bar those in casinos and pubs etc). I honestly have no idea what it's like inside, or what the setup is, but in my mind its permanently like a scene from Goodfellas.

The train station is dirty but the coach seat was perfect and clean once on the train. The passengers and workers were extremely friendly and helpful, making for a great, safe and comforting trip. The boarding process was quick and easy, especially with luggage. Although we had to carry our luggage up 1 stair, the train wasn't sold out so there was plenty of room for our many bags.

Apparently a fortune teller said she would tell her her fate if she "crossed her loof" (which means hand) with some silver. No fortune tellers to be seen on any of my visits here though and certainly no people wanting to cross my loof with some silver. This station is the first stop on the East Kilbride line from Glasgow Central Station. Alight here if you are looking to get to the Shawlands area or if you want to do some shopping at Morrisons which is right next to this station.

Well it's kind of a mess right now as it's going through some major renovations. From what I've heard is things are being removed and replaced. Hopefully by the next time I've visited, it should be complete. The nice thing about this area, everything is all walking distance from each other. You can start off at a pub, move over to next. Get some shipping done, grab a meal and finish off at another pub. So many good restaurants that's all nearby. Both quick and easy places and sit down dining. Even loads of more upscale bars and restaurants. Just popping into different places and seeing what's there is really great. Major plus, with the train station ending there, it sure brings in loads of people. Daily and especially during the weekend.

Indeed the difference this has made to my quality of life has been astounding. No longer is there scrapping with fellow dreary commuters for the last Metro in the stand to brighten up the slog into work. Gone are the days of worrying about a quite colossal rumbling of the stomach interrupting a meeting, as I forget to have breakfast and leave myself with no options en route. And no more is the wait for the train enough to make you want to throw yourself in front of it, as time is spent reading the front covers of magazines I'd be too embarrassed to buy otherwise. And to be fair, Hyndland Train Station has always been one of the better ones on the local line circuit. Hidden just off Novar Drive, access to the station comes via a long tunnel which has been loudly decorated by the children of Hyndland Secondary School (all of whom must be hitting 40 soon, given the mural first appeared in the 80's). The people of Hyndland simply couldn't cope with the lack of facilities afforded to, for instance, the people of Yoker and Kilpatrick so needless to say there's a heated ticket office complete with a generous number of seats, both inside and outside. Proper seats as well, not those benches which resemble a football crossbar and ensure a numb backside for the length of your journey. The addition of a kiosk has unquestionably made Hyndland one of the best non-interchange stations on the line and if there's anywhere you are likely to see a commuter crack a smile, it's here. Still unlikely though.

It's quite a busy station for such a small one and is served by all services on the Argyle Line and North Clyde Line. From here it's easy to get to the centre of Glasgow, Edinburgh Waverley (although via a slightly slower route and it may be better to change at Partick), Balloch, Dalmuir, Helensburgh, Milngavie, Hamilton and on and on. The station has a small, indoor waiting room on the platform as well as a few outdoor benches. The waiting room has a staffed ticket office but there's a machine as well for those hours when no staff are available. There's also a small coffee kiosk on the platform which sells coffee, tea, small snacks and newspapers. The underpass that leads to the station has a 45 meter long tiled mural with a train theme that was created by students at Hyndland secondary school in 1990.

I pass through this station most days and the staff are always really friendly; one cheerful ticket lady ushered me through the barrier for free when I passed through on new year's eve, which was a nice wee festive treat. There's rarely a queue, the staff are lovely and it's ideally located for those holidaying in one of the nearby hotels or for locals heading to work or into town. An ideal wee station.

Charing Cross is definitely one of the better Scotrail train stations. Located, would you believe…read moreit, at Charing Cross, it's the perfect place to hop off the train for a night out on Sauchiehall or Bath Streets. It's also very close to the King's Theatre and the Mitchell Library. There are no barriers in opertion at this station, so it's quick in and out. The only obstacle is the stairs, but you can always take the lift if you're feeling lazy! Lines operate from Drumgelloch and Springburn to Milngavie, Helensburgh, and Balloch. There's also a wee WH Smith, which is quite expensive but they often have deals on chocolate and it's great for picking up your morning paper. Another added bonus is that when you're heading east you beat the rush for seats that follows at Queen Street. Brilliant!
