I'm having very mixed feelings about this place. I came in for work on my car because I got into an accident, they took my car worked with insurance company and put me in a rental easy no problem. After what was almost a month of waiting for my vehicle to be ready I finally get the call to come pick up my car which I do right before work. On my way to work I feel something is off and just then someone waves me down to tell me my back tire looks really loose. Nothing I could've done because I was on my way to work but once I get to work I tighten the lug nuts down and sure enough they were ridiculously loose. I come in the next day to the shop because I want my tires realigned and for a second they tried to deny working on my tires when in my hand I'm holding THEIR tire alignment before and after sheet for my vehicle. At which point they proceed to take my car and get the work done right before I'm headed to work. I'm on the highway and as I'm braking I hear a really bad weird scraping noise. Metal on metal. Come in the next day and apparently they forgot to tighten a screw on my brakes. . Kind of very annoying I had to go back three days in a row for little mistakes that should have never happened in the first place. Loose tire. Forgetting to tighten a screw on brake. Both pretty bad but they did the work no problem or extra charge of course. read more

Based on other Yelp reviews, I took my Subaru Forester to this shop for an estimate after a rear-end collision. I chose this shop to do the repairs after my initial visit. The staff there was reassuring about the repair and pretty much took over the procedures and protocols of dealing with the insurance company, adjustor, and rental car company. In addition to the work, which the shop says is verified by Subaru, it was returned to me fully detailed as well as repaired -- a happy surprise. The repair took longer than I had expected and over a week more than the original promised date, but apparently the pandemic affects the supply chain (etc.) and inspection calendar, so I did not lower my rating because of this issue. Bottom line, I appreciate that the entire staff responded to my needs and kept me posted along the way. And I love that they were able to keep my Forester on the road. read more

These guys are awesome. My first encounter with them was a little more than a year ago when I had hit a fire hydrant. Took nearly a month to get my car back, but it wasn't there fault at all. My insurance company was being a pain and these guys tried their best to be accommidating to the inconvience the insurance company was causing. They actually let me have a rental until I can get my car back on their expense! They've been really wonderful through the process. A few months later, there was some rattling happening in the car, they checked it out quick and it was all fixed. That might have been a courtsey job seeing that they didn't charge me for it. This past week I had to go to them again because I was in Philadephia over the weekend and some jerk smashed my window. I probably should have vaccumed the broken glass but they obviously did that. But what was great, I forgot to mention to them how the "curtain" to the airbag in the front passenger side was coming off. And when I got the car back, I had looked to the right and noticed they did it without me even saying anything! At no charge either! Earlier last month I had gone to the dealership since there was a recall on a part and mentioned it to them and they wanted to charge me $30 for the "part" and labor of fixing it. When the insurance company totaled my car, Hamden Auto Body was an incredible help even though they weren't going to be working on my car. On four different occasions afterwards, they spent time on the phone with me, talking me through the process and helping me look out for things the insurance company was doing to pay me less. While I can't speak for their work (though someone I trust says it's excellent) but their customer service is genuinely exceptional. My new best friends! My car got crunched in downtown New Haven and my insurance company recommended Hamden Auto Body. State Farm offers a lifetime guarantee on all their work plus a few little extras. I didn't really want to go all the way out there but I'm glad I did. The whole team was amazing. I have an insanely busy schedule right now and Wendy pretty much handled everything- has a great rapport with the insurance agencies (State Farm and Geico) and the local rental offices (Enterprise just down the street)... She pretty much had everything set up for me, paperwork, rental car, insurance agreement when I walked in the door (just call ahead and give her all the info you have). My car is now 10 years old and has seen better days after driving all over California and cross-country to Connecticut. They gave my car back clean and looking like new in a very reasonable amount of time. I got email updates every few days which was really helpful in planning how long to get the rental and when I was going to get my car back. Hate to leave a bad review since my initial conversations with them were pleasant, but I had the passenger side mirror replaced by this shop which does not match the original model of my car. After matching an estimate from another body shop, I asked the folks in charge multiple times whether it was the exact same model and they assured me that it was -- only to find out that the mirror is a different size and color than the original. just picked up our car from Hamden auto body looks ok but it took them 2+ weeks to do a 3 day job an 1100.00 job turned into a 3500.00 job they blamed the insurance company but if they didn't try to rip them off with false repairs it would have taken so long they also said the car was done last week but when I showed up to get the car all of a sudden the car wasn't done what a bunch of lairs they are wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more
