OK, let me start my review by saying I am a highly biased resident of Miamisburg Ohio. I grew up on these burgers and I really enjoy them. Let's start with the general idea. It's a wagon that sells hamburgers. The hamburgers are obviously not all hamburger, and have some sausage in them. I'm a big fan of this. In the recent years, they have started to cook them a little bit more crispy. One of the keys is to order them soft if this is a problem for you I don't really have a problem with the crunch. Also, it's just a fun line where a lot of the people are just very nice people. It always tends to be a nice group working in the wagon and I appreciate their hard work. It's cool to be in the middle of our city and possibly get identified by a passing car. Salt, pepper, pickle, onion. I'm going to let out the truth that may get me thrown out of the Miamisburg club, I take the pickle and onion off. Although, if you order them without it, they never seem to taste right. Absolutely delicious, I can understand why this is a Dayton staple. While it is only a wagon, it is worth the lines and heat. The burgers are topped with onion, pickle, salt, and pepper. Despite the extra toppings it is very yummy and didn't need more in my opinion. I would recommend getting more than one just based on the size. A single burger runs for $1.50! read more

The BEST little hamburger spot in the area!! Staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! I love the simplicity of the process - choose how many hamburgers you'd like, pickle and/or onion, and that's it! Then, enjoy the most amazing little burger you've ever had. Prices are super fair and they work quickly to get everyone their food in a timely manner, even when the line looks long. With respect to the Miamisburg community and Hamburger Wagon. I drove 40 minutes just to give this a try and I wasn't a fan. The ladies inside see very friendly and everything seemed to be clean it was the burger that I went for and it didn't meet up to the hype. For many years this has been a fan favorite and a staple of the community but for me the burger was so thin and had very little taste. I mostly tasted the onion and the pepper that added. Maybe next time I'll get doubles and see if that makes a difference. read more

First time trying the Hamburger wagon and we are out of towners and I came across a review on Yelp. The place was easy to find, quick walk up service, no frills which I loved! The small burgers are on the small side which is perfect, just be advised to order more than you think LOL we originally ordered 2 each and a bag of chips each, we ate them so fast and went back for a few more each! The Hamburger Wagon, a tradition unlike any other in the Hamburger Industry. The Hamburger Wagon (HW) is just that a wagon that cooks incredible hamburgers, it's been going strong for 110 years. I think this has to be where White Castle got their slider idea from, as sliders are HWs speciality. This place is full of Americana in their own unique way and the burgers, though different, are packed full of a power punch of scrumptious flavor. The menu is simple, get a single ($1.50), get a double ($3.00), drinks are $1.50 and chips are $1.50 and yes, it's such a great spot from yesteryear that they only take cash. Yet you still see a line for these incredible sliders that come with pickles, onion, salt and pepper, there are no other options, that's right no cheese and even without the cheese they are still amazing, amazing, amazing. So seriously, the HW is just that a Wagon on a square in town, that they roll away at the end of the day and take across the street and put in a garage. And yes, they are open in the Winter. I wish they were open a little later in the summer (only 7pm), but in the winter they are open to 6pm. So the ambiance is all weather dependent, it sits on a very cool square in the center of town and there is a riverside park a block away to take your food and enjoy the views (park is under renovation right now, August 2023), but when it's down it's the perfect place to bring your sliders. Drink options are water and about 5 or 6 different sodas. The service is great, they take about 5 orders at a time and start making the burgers right there in the wagon. It's a great spot and you'll highly enjoy the uniqueness of the HW and the taste as well, it's awesome!! read more

I meant to take a picture of my burgers, but they were gone after seconds. Their website said that they were in the top 100 of best burgers in America, and they didn't disappoint! Everyone was really friendly and talkative. Just get ready to stand for an hour or more. Bring an umbrella! read more

From out of town and sadly already ate lunch but I had to try this out. The burgers are small so I only got 2. You see the owner cooking and at first I thought it was water but it was grease from all the burgers. Didn't bother me but to some may be shocking. Very simple and there was a line for them. I enjoyed them and they were good and not spectacular because they were plain but they were cheap and better than most cheap burger places. The server taking the orders was organized and had a system and she was friendly. If I am ever back up there I will get my burger from the wagon. read more

The only thing that would keep me from waiting in line at the Hamburger Wagon is a full bladder. Otherwise it's well worth it. Those tiny little burgers are so good they will make your tongue slap your brain out. I get between three and four and that seems to fill me up. Historic, simple and delicious! All that is really needed to be said. I am so glad we came here for lunch while visiting the area. There was a constant line but it moved quickly and efficiently. The burgers are like sliders so I suggest getting a couple. The way that they fry the burger leaves the sliders with a nice crunch that you don't get very often. Finally was able to visit here after hearing some good buzz on Chowdown Cincinnati. No line about 5:40 PM on a Monday. Vert friendly people that I had a nice conversation with while my burgers were being prepared. This hamburger stand, despite not being a brick-and-mortar business, has been here since 1913 !! So they preceded White Castle by 8 years and can legitimately claim to have originated "The Slider". Their burgers are fried in a pan and given a crispy coating that makes them different from other burgers, including White Castles. They were pretty good and a change of pace from ordinary burgers. We seldom get to Miamisburg, bit if we do, we will probably stop here. Scope it out for a unique piece of Americana. read more

D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G The WORST burger I've ever eaten in my life, and it wasn't inexpensive either. The meat has no flavor it just tastes like boiled grease. There aren't any decent side or drink options, it's crappy mediocre food and I don't recommend anyone waste their $$$ here. read more

A simple concept with big flavor! Accidentally drove by this place and couldn't resist the urge to stop. So glad I did! They have a single or a double, both reasonably priced. Topping choices were just pickles and onions. You could also get bagged chips and soda or water. I got a double, which isn't very big in size, but had tons of flavor. Sooooo good! The double was big enough for me but my husband ate 2. I've not had hamburgers prepared this way so it was a unique experience for me. Service is fast and friendly. I can see why this is a popular spot. If you're ever in the area, highly recommend. It's an outside mobile area with just a few sidewalk benches to sit on, so it's a to go kind of place. Tasteless little hockey pucks. Service is not that great. The ambiance is that of an outdoor food stand, so you can rate that however you want. It draws a lot of people because it has been a Miamisburg institution for so many years. I remember their burgers tasting better many years ago, but not much better. I don't think people even pose the question if these little hockey pucks are really good or if they just go there because of tradition. I honestly can not believe how many people have gave this five stars. This was easily the worse thing I have ever ate in my life. My husband went to this place alot when he was younger and we were going home to Dayton for his birthday. We stopped here for lunch and it was my first time having it. We ordered four burgers with "everything" on them. Which is just pickle and onion. Four burgers and a soda was $7.50. Not bad. Waited in line 20 minutes. Didn't realize they only take cash so had to run to the ATM while waiting. I knew these burgers were slider size, but these aren't even sliders. I took a one bite and spit it out. This isn't meat. This is like they scrapped all of the crud off of the grill and put it on to a hamburger bun. It was gross crunchy. Had zero thickness. Had zero flavor or juice. My husband said it was the worst burger he's ever had in his life and it wasn't how he remembered it when he was little. Not even nostalgia could save it. "I may as well have licked the grill." - My husband I can't even truly explain how awful it was. It would have been better just as an onion and pickle sandwich. I will say some positives.
