Great fun for the family!!! Today we drove out for the opening day at Ham Orchards and it was PACKED! By the time we got there at around 11 AM most of the peaches were already gone, we were lucky to get some. People were packing grocery carts full of them and loading up their cars. Then we heard that they had blackberry picking as well. Ham Orchards has a beautiful field of healthy fresh homegrown blackberries. You have to buy a bucket for $2 and the berries are $4 a lb. Nothing more delicious than fresh fruit from the farm! read more

I was there on July 29, 2023. Myself and my sister bought peaches. $9 per bag. They were terrible. The peaches were mealy, bruised and basically inedible. I have had better peaches from the grocery store. It was very disappointing. However there were rave reviews for the peach ice cream. Cute place but very $$$ in my opinion. We didn't try the BBQ. You have to eat outside and it was 100 degrees. Employees were pleasant and helpful. read more

I had seen this place advertised so thought to go and check it out. I went on a Friday and expected a quaint little orchard. There were a ton of cars and even a bus so needless to say there were a ton of people. They do have a lot of things for purchase but I would save the drive and go to a local farmers market instead. I didn't try any of the bbq so can't speak to that. I did get some of the "famous" peach ice cream which was really disappointing actually. After taking a look at the ingredients I can see why, would expect better from a "local mom and pop". It's got so many awful ingredients in it I definitely tossed it out sadly. read more

We had such a great time here! I went a little crazy in their general store, but there was just SO MANY great things that I ended up leaving with peach cider, peaches, local honey, salsa, pecans....bug spray lol. After picking a bunch of blackberries we went back to the store to get some peach and strawberry ice cream. We had other lunch plans but the bbq smelled so good! Delicious! We had the peach bbq which is their specialty and it was great. The potato salad was creamy and good. The beans had a delicious flavor. And the peach tea was peachy! Oh and the ice cream was GREAT!! We will definitely be returning. Just beware there's no indoor seating to eat, so plan the time of year and time of day you go cause it's hot in Texas. read more

One of my fav places! I have to come here at least once every year!!! This place has expanded a great amount! Cars lined up on the highway to turn in. Now they even have bbq! My husband love chicken sandwiches and he said this is the best BBQ chicken sandwich he's had. Very simple. I think the chicken is smoked. But very delicious. I always get some sausages, and a half rack of ribs. Their bbq sauce is good too. They have homemade ice cream. Peach and strawberry. It tastes so fresh! I always end up buying 1-2 pints of ice cream to take home while I eat a cup there. There are tons of other items to look at and purchase. Fresh fruits and veggies. Pies and pie fillings. So much fun. Grab the kids and drive on down for a super fun morning and lunch. Started with the petting farm. They were so nice and my daughter got to pet chickens, piglets and a goat. Really cute and totally worth $4 per person. Then we went into the store, it was packed (at 11 on a Wednesday). Got some pies, jams and peaches. Then went out back for some lunch. The sandwiches were very good. After that, the 3 of us shared a cup of peach ice cream. It was plenty, and it was delicious. The ice cream alone bumps this review to 5 stars. Actually the bland peach pie should drop it to 3, but that ice cream was so good I'll let it slide. The peach ice cream was yummy. But go early - this place get busy fast. The line moved cause they have a lot of staff work in all areas. . So it may look like a long line but it moves fast. Good selection of jellies, salsas, jam, and other goods. But to look around is hard cause you have to weave in and out of lines.. And people think you are cutting.lol As for peaches.. Go early,. It seems that by 1 pm they are sold out of all the bag peaches and they don't restock it, so I took a star off for that. Cause I was there for peaches and almost didn't get any. The little store was brimming with local fresh fruits and veggies plus jams, jellies, condiments and frozen products. They also offered homemade peach and strawberry soft serve ice creams. To top it off there is a bbq restaurant on site offering up delicious bbq. The peach pulled pork with peach pickles/onions and a some Cole slaw was a little slice of heaven served on a bun. The BBQ was good, nothing out of the norm though. First, let me start off with this ... the peaches are so far beyond amazing, that words are barely sufficient. My wife and I visited this past Saturday, and were nearly overwhelmed. We had no idea there would be so many people there! Those folks obviously knew a good thing too. Of course we also got some of the little jars of jams and jellies to give out to friends, and a bottle of muscadine cider for me (all mine), as well as a mug and some shirts for the wife. We also got a jar of the Moonshine syrup. It's delicious, and can be compared to English Golden Syrup. It was also fun to see all the little kids prowling through the berry patch. The only negatives are that the parking area is a bit hazardous, especially towards the far end. Don't attempt to pull straight through or you might damage your car. Some extra gravel would help. Additionally, the store itself is way too small for the size of the crowds they attract. Okay, I admit I'm being a bit picky here. Truth be told, they probably have the best farm stand of any I've been to. We are already trying to figure out a time to get back there. WooHoo! read more

Amazing pulled pork sandwich! I usually don't order pulled pork at a BBQ place, but I wanted to try Ham's since it was their specialty. It did not disappoint! The peach bbq sauce and pickles with peach chunks were the bomb. My husband ordered their ribs, and they were also great, too! We devoured our food. Due to COVID, we ate inside of our car, but it did not stop us having a good time! I'm really hoping that we can go back to our normal, so we can picnic out there. While we were there, we purchased a bag of their peach, and they were so delicious. The convenient store was very cute, and they were selling a lot of bakery items with peach in them. I purchased peach coffee cake and shared with my co-workers the next day. OMG, they were soooo delicious. I didn't think peach and coffee would go together, but Ham's sure did make it work. Again, because of COVID, they were not selling soft serve peach ice cream. They were selling frozen pint. Because we were so full from BBQ, we decided not to get the pint. A true semi-hidden gem of North Texas that is a must go to for any and everyone! I first discovered Ham Orchards after seeing their peach soft serve swirl on Instagram. I became very interested and immediately started planning my trip here. So if you're like me and not really sure what Ham Orchards is exactly about, let me give you a short overview. It's a peach farm that harvests and sells a ton of fresh vegetables, berries and fruits. When you exit off the country road into their orchard you will see two main areas. The first building is a market and to the left you have the BBQ pavilion. Further past the pavilion are the peaches and berry patches where you can pick your own fruit (seasonal). They don't allow customers to pick their own peaches, because they like to keep up quality, but you can pick berries. I recommend starting off by checking out the BBQ pavilion. The menu is simple and focused, comprising of a few bbq meat option and combos. You order and pay at the BBQ windows, then after getting your food you make your way to the seating area and condiments bar. The condiments bar is actually a small room where you can fill your drink, grab some silverware, and add toppings (peach pickles, peppers, fresh onions, bbq sauce). The peach pulled pork sandwich was AMAZING. I saw them hand pulling the pork through the order window and it looked so goood, but more importantly tasted even better. I thought that there would be a strong peach flavor, but instead what came out was a subtle sweetness that perfectly complimented the pork and butter toasted bun. Please do yourself a favor and add some red onions for that perfect raw crunch that balances out the sandwich perfectly. 10/10 would come back just for this sandwich. I ordered the sandwich combo with potato salad, and it was way too mustardy for my taste, next time I'll try the cole slaw or just opt for some chips. After eating BBQ, my friends and I made our way to the market for some fresh groceries and peach soft serve. The soft serve comes in a cone ($2.95) or cup ($3.95) and there are three options: peach, strawberry, and swirl. It was tasty, 10/10 get the soft serve if you're here. The market itself, while small, was very fun to shop around. Some of the items I saw were fresh peaches (a lot of varieties), fresh berries, some vegetables, chilled cider, pies, fried pies, fudge, honey, jams, jellies, and a large variety of local syrups. Everything in there super affordable and I left with two bags filled with fresh fruit and other items. (For anyone curious the peaches that were in season and on sale when I was there ranged roughly $6-$12 for small and big bags). If you're interested in picking berries then go to the registers at the market and ask for how ever many buckets you need, then return to the market after picking your berries and pay per pound. Overall I had an EXCELLENT time at Ham Orchards, the time you spend here enjoying everything is time well spent. If you're interested in what's in season, or if the berry patches are open be sure to check their website became they update it very often! we came last week to pick black berries and all of them were sour. Hardly any were ripe and the ones that looked ripe were not sweet. No one at Ham tells you that even though all the staff know damn well the berries aren't ready to pick and they still advertise berry picking anyways. Very deceitful and a huge SCAM. read more

Omg. So. This. Place. Here. If you're passing by, shoot the gas and pass on by. I'm reviewing the bbq part of this establishment. It was apparent that the "pit master" (and my reference to a pit was being generous, because there was no smell of smoke to be found in the air) was no master when I saw him standing in the back in front of a clean counter. He hadn't cut or sliced any type of meat in a few hours. There were prepubescent children taking orders and shuffling meat from an aluminum pan to cold hard buns. I knew I was in trouble when I asked for moist sliced beef with extra bark and the child had a very confused glaze in her eyes. At this point, I'm just ready to eat. But again, I refused to partake in trash. One bite, and I'm done. I couldn't eat it It was possibly the second worse bbq spot in the world. (See my previous review for the absolute worse ever). I've been wanting to go here for a long time, and I finally had my chance yesterday. I know this is only open for the late spring, summer season, but I didn't think it would be too crowded on a late Friday afternoon. I was wrong. It was busy! My husband and I immediately ate at the bbq stand. We both had the peach bbq pulled pork sandwich with potato salad on the side. I liked that they give you the option to dress up your sandwich at the condiment bar. They had different toppings, including varieties of pickles. We both liked our sandwiches. I thought the meat was tender, and was a good portion. The potato salad was a tangy mustard rendition. It was okay. The little store was great, although a bit too crowded for my taste. They have a lot of selection of different fruits, veggies, peaches (of course!) pies, cobblers, jarred things and fudge. Naturally I had to try the ice cream they're known for. I got the peach strawberry swirl, and while I thought it was good, it was a little sweet for me. We walked out of the store $40 poorer, but we are definitely excited about our purchases! We bought a small bag of peaches, a few jars of salsa, jams, and hot sauces. I tried a peach today, and it was excellent. This is a great place to go if you want to support a local business, or take out of towners to for a fun Texas experience. read more

Ham orchards was a charming little farm with a huge selection of goodies for your home. They have a large selection of jams, jellys, picked veggies, butters and various other assortments all made with fresh ingredients from the farm. Their baked goods section had me wanting to buy everything. We ended up buying their small fried pies, which I now wish I had gotten several of. Their ice cream is simply delicious. Having been to Ham several times before, this place has really gone downhill. Just as Nga said in a previous review the BBQ is mediocre at best especially the St. Louis ribs, and not worth your hard-earned money. Your best bet is the peach pulled pork sandwich foodwise. The soft serve has been cheapened up with a very weak peach and strawberry flavor profile. The sopapillas I purchased in the store were pretty much flavorless and an embarrassment to the real Mexican sopapillas that my Abuela taught me how to make. Sorry Ham, that was my final vist. I came here with my mom and my aunts and it did not disappoint! Contrary to the name it is a peach farm...lol. The drive in isn't bad at all and it sits in a nice location that isn't developed. The area is very large and consists of a store and a BBQ eating station. Parking is just a gravel section but seemed large enough to accommodate large crowds. We started out in the store and spent most of the time in there.... mainly because of the free samples!! They have a large section of produce, canned items, and bakery items. They even have a small t-shirt section if you want something cute. The prices seemed about what you would pay at a farmers market. In the very back of the store there was a desert section where they make and sell different flavors of homemade fudge as well as peach flavored soft serve ice cream. The BBQ place is a walk up order station with a very large covered outdoor patio eating area. They made really cute wood barrel tables, picnic tables and rocking chairs. I ordered the sausage sandwich and it was really good! The BBQ sauce was amazing and they don't skimp on the amount they give you. The view is really pretty of all the orchards and the farm home. There is a train track that runs to the north of the property but the few that came by weren't a bother since the farm is so big. Food - 5 Service - 4 Value - 5 Come EARLY on Saturday or you'll be faced with long lines and may not be able to get any peaches. We enjoyed the peach pulled-pork sandwich -- the peach butter, pulled-pork and even the buns were all perfect. We also got the strawberry/peach swirl ice cream which made for a nice way to end the meal as we sat on rocking chairs in the covered pavilion (which was surprisingly breezy and cooler than I thought it would be). At the store, we also got some peach butter, peach popcorn and bag of peaches (their website lets you know which are in season). The lines moved a little slow at times because their credit card machines wouldn't always work. In the back of the store where the ice cream and fudge are, they had 3 lines going (2 of them were express lines for ice cream or fudge and if you had 5 items or less from the store) and then on the very right hand-side was a much shorter line if you wanted only ice cream or fudge (but if they line was empty then they'd let people waiting in the other two lines go there). read more

This was a fun day trip from Dallas when all they had on offer was fresh peaches, homemade ice cream, and train watching. With the addition of a BBQ stand, picnic pavilion, a well-stocked general store with a ton of branded products, AND a pick-your-own berry patch -- Ham's has gone from a destination to a DESTINATION! Depending on what day of the week you come, you have a different style of peach to take home. This ensures that the peaches for sale at Hams are tree-ripened and locally grown. We have never had a bad peach from Ham's, and we have been coming for 25 years. One of the fun things about Hams is how the Union Pacific crews will stop in for ice cream. Despite the long lines, the UPRR crews have head-of-line privileges, while families with little kids snap pics of a real freight train stopped outside. When we come for lunch, we get the Peach Pulled Pork sandwich. It is a generous serving of pulled pork with peach chunks. Moist and delicious!! The sandwich bun is a freshly made yeast bun, grilled on a flat top for an extra crunch. No trip to Hams is complete without getting some homemade soft-serve ice cream!! Flavors are peach, strawberry, and swirl. Sit in the rocking chairs ad eat your ice cream in the shade, or lick it old style on the porch near the RR tracks. We never leave Ham's without at least 2 bags of peaches, some homemade cookies, and a jar or two of Moonshine syrup. Many times we will eat a whole bag of peaches on the way home. A lot of food bloggers I follow on Instagram really hyped up the peach ice cream. My favorite ice cream is peaches and cream from HEB... so I had to see what it was all about. The color of the soft serve was gorgeous and the ice cream was creamy but I could barely taste much peach flavor. Though the peach ice cream disappointed me... the other food items you can buy in store and the BBQ sort of made up for it. Hubby didn't like the size of his brisket sandwich as it was too small for his liking. I had the spicy sausage sandwich and they really mean spicy! Probably the best spicy sausage I ever tried. Of course we bought a small basket of peaches which were perfectly ripe. Other food items such as the fried pies, peach salsa, jams, and even tortilla chips were delicious as well. Ham Orchards is a farmers market in Terrell, TX that's known for two things: peaches and barbecue. A short drive from the DFW metroplex, a weekend stop at Ham Orchards will reward you with sweet peach treats and barbecue. There are multiple components of Ham Orchards, but this review will focus on their barbecue. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The parking lot is large, dusty, and full of gravel. But once you get out of your car, you'll step through the gates into Ham Orchards. It's big, clean, has plenty of space, and you may smell hints of smoke in the air. If you're here for the first time, you'll find the market is on your right, you order barbecue in the middle, and there's plenty of covered seating in the pavilion on the left. Expect big crowds on the weekend, especially if the weather is nice. 1 Star. Service - The staff that take your order are very nice. You can order sandwiches or order by the pound. If you order by the pound they'll give you bread as well. There's a small building on the outside to get your drinks, condiments, napkins, etc. 1 Star. Food - At Ham Orchards, the peach is the star. They grow peaches so of course their barbecue has peach infused. We loved the peachy pork - this was their tender pulled pork. It wasn't as sweet as the name implied, but it was definitely delicious. Also, the bread they give us were buttered and toasted buns. Not sure if they do this if you order the peachy pork only, but we used it for everything. Ribs were tasty - I liked the rub but it was a bit dry. The smoked sausage was surprisingly good. I went in for a second bite only to find out the rest of the family beat me too it. I wasn't a fan of the brisket - next time I'll stick with just the ribs, sausage, and peachy pork. Beans are hearty with chunks of brisket cooked throughout. In fact, I liked the brisket in the beans better. Finally, while you should try the peach tea & ice cream, they both turned out to be way too sweet for my tastes. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes.
