Prices for a bridal party was given from ( ERIKA ) a hair stylist at Halo Hair Studio in Maple. When the hair stylists were completed a big surprise was given to the bridal party, a total different amount , a " Bigger amount " was charged for the services. The Original price that was discussed at the beginning was not charged. Individuals had to dish out way more money for the services. Not fair not right. This is dis- honest. Thanks to my girl J over here, I found this lovely gem outside of Toronto. I don't live in the area, or even in the country, but my boyfriend does. After spending too much money on a previous service that did not lighten my hair much at all, I really needed to find another salon that could do it for me. I searched and searched on Yelp for a salon that could tackle my Asian hair and leave me with lovely blonde hair that is not brassy. I couldn't find any pictures until I came across this business page. I mistakenly assumed that Asian people would know how to work with Asian hair best. Unfortunately that was not the case with my previous colorist, who charged WAAAAY too much for the work that she did. I asked my boyfriend to drive me here for a consultation and quote. I met with Amanda R. and she was so pleasant. She looked at my hair and told me about the process and what she would do. She told me that since my hair was longer, it would cost more than average length hair. Oh no, this is exactly what I heard at the other salon.. She said, "We usually charge $130 for an ombré, but since your hair is longer, it'll be $150.." The tone in her voice made it seem like that was expensive. I was thinking, "Hell yeah girl, slap that bleach in my hair ASAP!" I made an appointment for the Wednesday after, since Thursdays and Fridays tend to be their busier days. They had an opening on Saturday, but I was going to be busy partying at Veld. (Heyyyy!) On the day, I arrived on time for my appointment. Amanda was out, probably getting lunch, but was with me promptly when she came back. The salon was quiet, but it was great because all of her attention was on making sure my hair came out nicely. She made small talk and sung while applying the bleach to my hair, but I didn't mind. It was cute. Amanda was extremely professional and let me know what she was doing every time she left the chair. I sat under the dryer for about 40 minutes, which wasn't too bad. She then took me to the sink to wash my hair, and let me tell you, that girl can shampoo! The color came out super light, and she went to brush out the tangles from when she teased my hair earlier. After that, she went to put in toner and bam! My hair was complete. She was going to curl it, but I felt bad for my boyfriend, who was sitting there patiently the whole time, so I told her I'd skip it. The only weird thing was she asked me if I wanted her to blow dry my hair. Sooo.. you'd let me leave with wet hair? I just thought that was odd, but whatever. I left so incredibly happy with this salon. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area and need a color touch up. Thanks girl! I love my hair now. :) P.S. - My hair still feels really nice. It's not the same as it was before I ever colored it, but it's not damaged! read more

Good luck even getting an appointment here, they will tell you they're booked for the next 6 months. Don't even suggest being added to a wait list because they will tell you to keep checking their Instagram page for availability. WTF? What if you don't have IG? Very unprofessional... how about you have an appointment book and write down the clients info so you can contact them if availability comes up? Is that really too much work? I guess you don't need my business then. For $300+ for hair colour and the cut is not even good! You should be doing an absolute amazing job for the prices you charge. Last time I had to get a cut after leaving your salon because the cut was so poorly done. SMH I'll be taking my hard earned money elsewhere, even if I have to wait for an appointment it's better than the way they speak to you like you're bothering them at Halo. read more

I had recently gotten married, and had booked with Halo as a good friend named Erika works there (bad decision). When I had spoken to her, she stated clearly that my bridesmaids hair would be $90.00 plus tax. I confirmed the cost with her about two more times as I didnt want to give them false information. Long be hold, my wedding day comes. Everyone was in a great mood, excited for the day ahead until we were all screwed over. When my bridesmaids went to pay, they were given a total way over what was promised. They were charged $125.00 plus tax. Everyone was devastated. Two of my bridesmaids are students who dont work. Everyone prepared themselves for the amount of $90.00 plus tax. The two were put on the spot, and had to make arrangements to somehow cover the difference. My sister (single mother) was also slapped with this price change and was also surprised with a bill of $115.00 plus tax for my niece who is 6 years old (simple up do). IMAGINE THAT FOR A KID ! The entire staff did not seem sympathetic or understanding when everyone was upset. Their attitude was "It is what it is". They were non talkative. Did not offer coffee or water to myself and my bridal party and family. For the price that was paid, the quality of the work did not show. Everyones hair ran out quickly throughout the day. My advice to any other future brides is to save yourself the headache and embarrassment by finding another salon that will give you the bridal experience you deserve, a salon that appreciates their customers and most importantly that is HONEST about pricing. read more

Now, I don't follow this row of negative reviews at all. Fact of it all, I LOVED my time at Halo. A lot. I walked in with damaged hair, That was a spectrum of blonde. Not an ombre, just three colours that attempted to work with each other. Combined with my roots? Yikes. I called the day before and spoke to them about what I needed and wanted to do, and was quoted $250, which is amazing compared to other salon prices. Booked an appointment for noon the day after ( so this was yesterday, the 30th) I walked in a few minutes late and they immediately sat me down to get ready. My stylist was Amanda M, who gave the truth about what she saw and didn't sugar coat it to make an extra buck, like some other places would. We dived right into the process of fixing my roots and my overall color before going in with a gorgeous electric blue color. Because my ends were already so blonde, they took in the color the best. Other strands ended up teal, which matched extremely well. Amanda was such a sweetheart and gave me a lot of tips to maintain this color, which would be awesome for beginners diving into crazy hair colours! This whole process took four hours and I left extremely happy! Brownie points to the salon! Definitely coming back! read more

Let me just say I am very sensitive about my hair I trust not just anybody and when I hate what you've done I will let everybody and their mother know- ie: M Squared, Donato hair salon pfft But Halo hair has regained my faith in hair humanity. Balayage ombré done by Amanda R. Let's just say for someone so young and experienced it really impressed me not only that but the cleanliness of the salon and always attending to your needs. There is a common element here ... they arbitrarily OVERCHARGE as they feel fit. A simple highlight and trim was approx. $300 (shoulder length hair). The salon was dark and dated but the staff was nice enough. I have never paid such an outrageous amount for straightforward colour/trim. They charged to the top price for each separate service. Then there was a PPE charge. Then the bill was still not straight and they were still not able to account for another $20 thrown into the bill. I have never paid $300 for a regular tune-up service on my hair. *** This did not even include a root touch-up. Was quite shocked at cash-out, esp. given the approx. cost quote on the phone was in the range of about $120. Not very welcoming at all ... gauging people is not a nice way to be remembered. For $300 at least serve up an espresso! Absolutely bewildered at what they charged. Ahhhm, there is no spa quality to this small cramped salon. I would like to start off by saying that Halo Hair Studio Prices for bridal party services/ hair services is ridiculousness in pricing for what kind of work you get. About 2 months ago in May my self as a main of honor & bride maids went to this salon to get our hair done for my sister wedding. As we all know weddings takes months to plan and of course we knew what we were walking into when it came to what time we had to be there for our hair appointment , telling them we have 8 girls, asking for the COST and being told how much it would be and etc before hand. We were all told & prepared to pay $90 plus tax per girl for the day of the wedding and that what every girl had them self prepared to pay the amount told to us this is why we choose to came and agreed within the girls that that price was comfortable for all of us. When it came to cashing out after our hair services we were all charged way more that we were told many times and guaranteed of the cost before hand when we booked at Halo hair studio for the morning for us. They ended charging myself $125.00 plus tax and every other girl as well. As well they charged my Daughter $115.00 plus tax for a simple Up-do who is 6 YEARS OLD. How could you even do that please tell me? I even opened up my mouth and said but this is not what we were told why are you changing the prices on me last minute from $90.00 plus tax to $125.00 plus. That's a HUGE difference in price. Better yet she the lady Amanda told me "it is what it is". One of the hair dressers Erika who we have been dealing with this whole time for arranging the actual appointment for all of us girls didn't end up even getting involved in the situation at all and even said "it's the other girls prices not mine so you have to deal with them'' like what kind of service was that. if i knew all of this we wouldn't even have went. Ericka ended up charging less to who ever girls she got her hands on that day and the other girls were all thrown under the bus with a shock of price change. The ladies were not even out going at all or friendly as well. It ended being a stressful morning for all of us & put every girl on the spot and made all of us uncomfortable. I even ended up tearing up after paying that much for my self and daughter. It also made my sister most importantly stressed out and made her feel so bad. She made sure she got the prices and timing right which she did but they ended up charging there own prices and whatever they felt like charging. Beyond awful service. I called in the day before asking to book an appointment with Amanda R., and was told that I would need to come in for a consultation beforehand. She said to come the following day anytime between 11-4pm. I was told that I didn't need a formal appointment for the consultation. The following day, I went in between these hours and was not even acknowledged by any of the staff upon walking in. Every salon in Vaughan that I have been to has a secretary to greet clients and handle inquiries. Eventually I was approached but was told that I would need to wait an hour for the consultation. I explained that I was told that I could simply walk in anytime, and while I understand that there are appointment bookings, this should have been relayed beforehand and a formal appointment should have been set for me to come in (rather than just wasting my time). I get that because the consultation is a free service, it's not taken seriously; however, the salon clearly shows no value for new customers. On top of this, I was given attitude by Amanda, as when I asked her what her closest availability would be, she rudely said 'I don't know'. The hype on Instagram is not worth the poor service that you'll receive in even trying to make an appointment. Some words of advice for this salon: schedule consultations 15 mins or so before the actual hair service-as to avoid devaluing customers and having little organization. This place has lost the potential for a new customer-if you're in need of other great salons in the area, try La Couture Hair Lounge or Scrupples. Halo needs to re-evaluate its customer service skills. read more

Awful experience at this salon. Wanted blonde balayage and got a brassy brown. I even brought in a picture of exactly what I wanted and they assured me it could be done. It wasn't even balayage, she did highlights!!! What a waste of money! Even paid an extra $40 for Olaplex which was supposed to allow them to lighten the hair without damage. I'm so mad I wasted $300. read more
