Next thing I know, he's inspecting the 150cc and decides to change the brakes, without consent; what are you doing?! He looks at me with a funny face , rolls his pointer finger to show me how bad the brakes were (they were done, done ). I said, "Damn Jimmy, you could had least told me first." The owner is surly…read moreand not always a very pleasant guy but he knows how to fix your bike or will tell you the bad news when the bike can't/isn't worth the money for the repair. If he doesn't have the parts for his bikes, he will help you order than and you'll be back on the road once he gets the parts. Even though the customer service can leave much to be desired, the prices are super reasonable, the mechanics are honest, and there are no lies (which is surprisingly rare for mechanics in NYC). I have had him service three different kinds of scooters and now my motorcycle and have always had good results. If you call, he will sometimes say he is too busy to work on a bike and it is easier if you just bring the bike in. Zoom Scooter is also one of the cheapest shops to pick up a motorcycle helmet, and most of their helmets are HJC, so they are DOT and ECE approved helmets (not crap helmets). The guy also sells some other motorcycle and scooter accessories like NY State approved sunglasses and chains, rain covers, etc. Zoom Scooter also sells scooters, however the stock of these scooters aren't consistent and often times they are sold out of bikes. It is best to call to see what they have available. Zoom Scooters only sells GAS POWERED SCOOTERS and NO ELECTRIC SCOOTERS ARE SOLD HERE. Somethings to note: The shop is CASH ONLY. Yelp has it flagged that he takes credit, he does not take credit and will direct you to ATMS nearby. Come with cash if it is a simple thing like changing engine or gear oil, coolant, brakes, changing out a light or spark plug, etc. If its going to be service that needs parts, I would ask for a price then come back with money when the job is done. It is best to leave your phone number when you leave a bike so he can call back when the job is done. The hours of business are 10am-6pm everyday from Monday to Saturday and the shop is closed Sunday (yelp hasn't updated).

This particular model is well known for having electrical issues and on more than one occasion I have been stranded mid-ride due to theses issues causing a dead battery. You get what you pay for here and that is great customer service, high quality repairs and expert knowledge. It's no wonder I saw about 4 other moped rider dropping off or picking up their bikes while I was there.. these guys know their stuff! Also, in case you're reading this and considering bringing in your moped... just know that they only work on actual oldschool mopeds (ie. with 2 stroke engines and pedals).
