Coach Brande is direct and makes it the goal of her quick and efficient lessons: the kid will learn to swim. Both my kids are perhaps on the "older" side in regards to learning how to swim (8 and 10), one being extremely terrified of the floating feeling. By the end of our session, both of my kids are confident in breathing while keeping their head underwater and swimming. I managed to get Coach Brande's info from parents at my local elementary school and will continue to do the same by passing this along to any other parents looking to get their child(ren) water safety ready. Now: do they offer an adult version of this?????

Before starting the swim class, my 6 yr old son would cry whenever his face got under water. But Day of 1 of swim class, he couldn't stop saying how much he loved Coach Brande & wished he could be in the swim class forever. Just 2nd day of swim class, he was floating a bit by himself with his face under the water. By 3rd day, he was diving under water to get the rings on the floor of the pool. Coach Brande's skills in teaching kids how to swim is so effective and she makes it fun for the kids too. I am so thankful for her teaching my kid a life-saving skill.

Miss Emma was so patient and caring, and always prioritized making my son feel comfortable and safe. She knew when to push him and modified lessons to match what he could handle. Swim synergy also does a great job finding great pools and sets up a little waiting area with toys so the kids are occupied while they wait for their lessons. We loved our entire experience!

My daughter is now such a confident swimmer, and we couldn't be happier with her progress. Emma is incredibly kind, patient, and amazing with kids. We had the best experience and truly cannot recommend her enough!

It led to my daughter crying whenever I mentioned going to swim lessons and almost hyperventilating. We decided to cancel and switch to SwimSynergy. I really wanted to nip the fear asap so wanted to be seen the following week vs waiting until the next session. They were super accommodating and worked with our schedule to make it work for our daughter. My daughter absolutely fell in love with Krista in particular. She liked her sweet nature and went from finding swim terrifying to asking "is today a swim day?!" And being super excited when it was! After a few short weeks my daughter could actually swim. It was amazing how quick she learned after being stagnant with her previous instructor. We completed the 10 weeks and will be looking into maintenance lessons as well. After the positive and improved experience, I worried my 6 yo son may not have the same safety skills as my daughter so I had him take lessons for a few weeks and he enjoyed his experience as well. Both of my kids earned a swim medal which they were so excited about. The very first swim we did at our HOA pool after my son received his medal, both of my kids wore their medals to the pool haha. They were so proud of what they earned! We also had great experiences with the other instructors that would partner with Krista. We have friends at other pools with different Swim Synergy instructors who have also had great experiences. I enthusiastically recommend!! Only negative thing is that now when my daughter goes to a friend's pool she hasn't been to before, she asks "is this a saltwater pool?" Haha.. She is spoiled by this place in the best way. :)

I don't have a fear of water but something about how my brain was approaching learning to swim and body movements didn't click. Krista and her methods work! She approaches it logically, breaking lessons down to bite sized bits, and adjusting to how she sees you learning or not learning. I had a few months of classes, and I'm not saying I can swim across an Olympic sized pool (although I might!!) but I can tread, and make it across a normal lap pool, and I can do the backstroke and side stroke. It's been amazing! These lessons made my recent Caribbean vacation so much better and made my husband worry less with my swimming ability. I loved that the lessons are in heated pools (hardest part was getting out of the pool), and that they are located in different neighborhoods so that the one closest to me was less than a ten minute drive. This has been a fantastic experience and I intend to return for some follow up lessons to continue improving my swimming in the fall. Highly, highly recommend!

Just some background... our daughter has thrown herself at water from birth. She would crawl toward the ocean as a tiny baby, repeatedly trying to get into pools whenever near. It was terrifying. So we got her in swim lessons as early as 6 months old, first at Waterworks and later at Noonan. By three, she could hold her breath, push from the wall, glide and float assisted, but ZERO SKILLS TO ACTUALLY SWIM and keep her head above water. The final straw was the day we watched as our daughter's hands slipped off the wall and she went under the water- little fingers reaching for the surface, literally drowning DURING A LESSON. The instructor had taken her eyes off for one minute, turning toward another student. It is so loud in these overcrowded indoor pools that she couldn't hear me screaming from across the pool "SHE'S DROWNING!!!!!! HELP! OMG!!!" Thankfully, my daughter had at least learned to hold her breath, which she did long enough for my husband to sprint across the length of the pool and fish her out- the instructor's mouth in awe. Imagine if we had been staring at our phones instead of watching her lesson like every other parent. It still makes me nauseous. Needless to say my kid learned to fear the water. What had once given her nothing but pleasure now made her scared and anxious. This is how we found Krista. She is absolutely unparalleled. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the lessons are only 15 minutes. Yes, it's a weekly commitment. And YES, it's 150% worth it. The skills and confidence my daughter learned in just 2 weeks with Krista completely outshined the crappy instruction, oodles of money and time I spent dragging my kid to those other swim schools- for YEARS!! We have Krista to thank for so much more than just swim lessons- our daughter's confidence and happiness was restored and we can finally relax knowing she is safe near water.

Unfortunately, we have noticed that staff members, including one of our favorite instructors have left and are planning on leaving their employment at this location. I have learned that this is not because of the job itself, but because of the conduct and behavior of the owner whom I shall refer to as "B" "B" does not seem to value his staff in the way we, the customers, do. It is my understanding that he is often rude, dismissive, abrupt, and insensitive to staff. I have also learned that there is hardly a staff member at the school that has not been brought to tears by the words of 'B" I have personally observed some of his interactions with staff, and was horrified that they would be spoken to in the manner that he did. This type of business relies on their staff, specifically their teachers. Without them, there is no business. I am quite concerned that there will be a continued turnover, which will have a direct negative impact on the students at the school, including my son. I know that this is a family owned and operated business. I have great respect for the Callan family. Unfortunately "B" is risking their good reputation, and I truly hope someone in the family business can step in and change the course such that the staff be treated as they deserve. I know that many families, mine included, will follow our child's instructor if they should leave this location. This 5 star rating is only because of the employees.

First, they might pair your kid with another older kid (that already knows how to swim but spends more time with them) or extremely younger like a 1 year or younger (which requires more time and attention) and you split your 20 minutes, so you really get 10 minutes but they always end about 2-3 minutes early. You are responsible for your toddler when the teacher is teaching the other kid. They just leave the toddler on the steps and say it's your responsibility to watch them. My son almost fell off the steps, would have drowned. So be prepare to get into the water. They include in their contract that it's your responsibility even though you pay for them to teach. Or wait awhile for them to be done with the other kid. Second, they start on time and end it 2-3 minutes early, with a break after each go. So swim time is like 7-8 minutes. Older kids get more water time if paired up with them. They get to swim the whole pool while toddlers get like less than 1 minute. Third, they are extremely inflexible if you have to miss one class. You can't just reschedule with a set date, they make you call the day before to find any time available the next day only and it could be 10am or 5 pm, but who knows. I would imagine they have their schedules out already a week in advance! But no. The front lady is extremely difficult and hard headed regarding rescheduling. Also, I don't know if they have certain milestones for toddlers, but just teaching them to be comfortable in water. No like learning to hold your breath under water or floating or swimming to safety. Some teachers are better and spend more time with your kid, no consistency. What a waste of money and time for toddlers. Never coming back.

When We first stated with Elly, she committed to teaching private swimming lessons for $45/hour at our pool. She did this 4 times and then said she couldn't do it anymore and we would have to come to her pool. This was strange because she advertises herself as a mobile swim coach that will come to you. Since we started with her, we decided to just go to her pool. You would think that her pricing would change since she was no longer coming to our pool and we were driving to her, but it didn't. We noticed that she was NEVER on time for our set swimming lesson. She was always 5-10 minute late to start the lesson, which become very frustrating. Mostly because she wouldn't give you the full 30 minutes you paid for. She'd cut the lesson short 5-10 minutes early to start her next lesson! When I asked her about this she become confrontational and defensive, as opposed to apologetic. I noticed she would engage in long conversations with other parents during the time I was paying her to teach my daughter! I honestly couldn't believe this. When someone pays you for a private lesson, you focus your time and attention to what they're paying you to do. Every lesson I noticed she would be talking to other parents for 5 minutes minimum during our swim lesson. I kept giving her another chance and trying to let it go since my daughter liked her. But at the end of the day, it was so professional and just NOT worth it. There are so many other swim instructors in San Diego, don't waste your time or money with this scatter brain.
