Fast forward to today, and he's now a swim coach here and absolutely loves it. There's something really special about seeing things come full circle. He remembered his experience here so fondly that he decided to apply for a job, and now he's thriving in a place that once helped him grow and build confidence in the water. The environment here has always been welcoming and family-focused, and it's clear they continue to create positive experiences for both kids and staff. When I first heard about the promise of ISR, I was honestly a little skeptical. It was hard for me…read moreto perceive that a not even two-year-old could actually float and swim, but we saw the value. Definitely want to make sure that our child is safe. It was helpful that Coach Brad was willing to let us go poolside and talk to the other parents about their experiences and see them in action. It's just a very open, friendly environment. Right away, we just saw Coach Brad teaching ISR, and we were just amazed. Our son picked it up pretty quick and started to love the water and helped us to demystify myths. For example, how using floaties for your kids actually teaches them how to drown faster, which we didn't think about but we learned here. In just six weeks, our toddler loves the water and doesn't need floaties, and now we feel confident that, bringing him to any body of water, he's gonna be good and we're having fun with him. They even cried longer than average throughout their first sessions. Despite the tears, it was amazing to see how quickly they learned and developed new skills. He works so well with kids and tailors each session to their individual needs, while also building a relationship with them and making lessons enjoyable. Our 5 year old is so confident in the water now and learning traditional strokes, and our little one has even started asking to swim. We can't say enough good things about Coach Brad and recommend him whenever anyone asks us about swim lessons. In just 8 sessions, Coach Dave helped him learn the foundations of swimming with so much patience, encouragement, and professionalism. We continued lessons with him, and 6 months later Archer is now like a little fish in the water What really stands out is Coach Dave's dedication and ability to connect with kids. He makes lessons fun while still building strong technique, confidence, and water safety skills. You can genuinely tell he cares about every child's progress.

Dave is a guru genius who taught me, an unteachable adult onset swimmer, to be comfortable and…read moreenjoy swimming. I could do fine in water - could easily swim, as in not die when thrown in deep water. But I wanted to learn to swim laps/distance for triathlons and exercise and just could not figure it out. And I just could not find the right swim instructor or class for this. There's brand-new-to-water classes that teach you not to die in the water. And then there are classes that teach you to improve your technique in certain strokes. I was stuck in the middle - just could not figure out how to do the freestyle breathing right to even start swimming laps. I tried a couple different instructors, both of whom were probably good college swimmers, and they just had no real insight or experience with struggling to breathe. Enter Dave. In one session, he'd taught me 3x as much as multiple sessions with previous instructors and solo practice had taken me. By session 2, was up to being able to at least swim some short back-and-forths. Things got easier each session, and I left the initial package of lessons I bought feeling comfortable in the pool. Have since made a lot of progress, including some long open-water swims in the ocean. All thanks to Dave's great instruction.

When We first stated with Elly, she committed to teaching private swimming lessons for $45/hour at our pool. She did this 4 times and then said she couldn't do it anymore and we would have to come to her pool. This was strange because she advertises herself as a mobile swim coach that will come to you. Since we started with her, we decided to just go to her pool. You would think that her pricing would change since she was no longer coming to our pool and we were driving to her, but it didn't. We noticed that she was NEVER on time for our set swimming lesson. She was always 5-10 minute late to start the lesson, which become very frustrating. Mostly because she wouldn't give you the full 30 minutes you paid for. She'd cut the lesson short 5-10 minutes early to start her next lesson! When I asked her about this she become confrontational and defensive, as opposed to apologetic. I noticed she would engage in long conversations with other parents during the time I was paying her to teach my daughter! I honestly couldn't believe this. When someone pays you for a private lesson, you focus your time and attention to what they're paying you to do. Every lesson I noticed she would be talking to other parents for 5 minutes minimum during our swim lesson. I kept giving her another chance and trying to let it go since my daughter liked her. But at the end of the day, it was so professional and just NOT worth it. There are so many other swim instructors in San Diego, don't waste your time or money with this scatter brain.
