I lived at a Bender Property Rental for 2 1/2 years. One time my electrical panel was on fire and…read morethey made me wait till Monday to get it fixed. My 20 year old refrigerator was an electricity hog and they refused to replace even when I needed a repair man to come several times and he even used a piece of duct tape to hold the shelf on. The bathroom was so rusty I'm certain it caused health problems I repeatedly asked them to do something about it but they ONLY FIX what is legally an issue - they don't actually care about their residents personally AT ALL. I wasn't on a lease but they constantly raised the rent starting 2 months after we moved in they raised it $25, then a little while later $25 a month more, then again $50 a month more - all during only 2 1/2 years living there. Our shower and toilet were leaking and they just completely ignored us. We are usually homeowners so since this is our second rental since owning a home we cleaned and left it much cleaner than when we moved in. I even steam cleaned repeatedly. They are pretty unethical - because we left the apartment and grounds in better condition than when we got it and even prepped it for the next people and they charged me $250 for painting when the walls were not painted when we moved in and we even went as far to repair holes that were there WHEN we moved in and primed some normal wear and tear areas. We also steamed cleaned the entire apartment repeatedly but they charged us $250 to steam clean again (which is within the law but was not necessary) they replaced some carpet pad for a carpet that was already old when we got it. The worst part is I feel foolish for working so hard for 4 days to clean the apartment when they are obviously completely unethical and only are concerned with making money. They may have charged us what was allowable by LAW but that doesn't mean they aren't screwing us. I'm going to send them a letter and I will update this if they make amends with this situation. I've heard that the actual owner is a tightwad but with the cleaning and painting fee - I can tell that they were just being opportunistic.

I lived at a home managed by Bender Properties in Portland for 5 years and would live in any property they managed again. They are so responsive and unbelievable kind. As you would expect, there were small and big requests over the course of 5 years and they were always insanely prompt and there was never a hint of foul play in taking care of maintenance requests. Love this company. Thank you guys! Renting can be rough and you have restored my faith!

Joe guided us through the process of purchasing our first home in the hectic Portland market, and…read morewe are very thankful for his guidance and hard work. As first-time home buyers, we didn't know what questions we should be asking and what we should be looking for. Joe helped guide us through the process as a tremendously knowledgeable asset when viewing properties or making offers, and he very patiently answered our numerous questions. Joe also has a great sense of humor and we really enjoyed viewing homes with him. When we started our research into buying a home in the area, we were concerned with how competitive the market was and how some buyers were waving contingencies to submit a winning offer. While we wanted to remain competitive in our offers so we could get a great home, we didn't want to feel like we were risking our future by overextending ourselves. From our introduction until closing on our new home, Joe helped us to remain grounded and stuck to his mantra: Take the long way home and don't shortcut the work. Joe helped us tour about 30 homes and throughout the process helped us prioritize what was important in a home to us. Joe was always on our side as buyers and didn't recommend bidding over what the current market was bearing. When we finally landed our home, Joe provided us invaluable advice about how to navigate the inspection period and helped us successfully negotiate repairs needed before move-in. He thought of all the details that we didn't know about or would otherwise miss, making the entire process seamless and as low stress as possible. We would highly recommend Joe's services to anyone looking to buy or sell a home. He was incredibly thorough, diligent, and practical. His vast experience of the market and process truly made a difference in getting our offer accepted for a house we are now calling our home.
