Bill Grange - Windermere Real Estate

Sellwood, Southeast Portland

It's been a few months since we closed on a home that Bill helped us find. Being from out of town,…read more I can confidently say that home buying from 1,300 miles away is a different animal. Shopping for, closing on, and moving into a home from a distance with children and pets really calls for the hand holding of a fully invested advocate. Bill, in each phase of our purchase, was our advocate (not merely a transactions agent looking to close the deal only to be never heard from again) in ways that I've learned from past experiences to not expect from real estate agents. Yet, he has reset the bar for me on just how a transaction should be managed. The bottom line, Bill through our 4 month search/buying process together proved himself to be a trust-worthy, caring and full-service oriented partner. He is far and away the best agent that I've worked with. I just think that Bill's standard for services rendered is so high and that he is so committed to it that it cannot help but show and be felt in ways that comes across as being sincere and second nature. Bill was such a pro's pro at helping us work through rejected offers, inspection report blemishes, title company/lender hurdles, and scheduling coordination conflicts. The curve balls were varied and unscripted but in each case I noticed in real-time how Bill proactively assumed the role of project manager, point of contact, facilitator, problem solver and communicator amongst the many parties involved. He was always a step ahead in anticipating and prepping for the next steps, such that I learned early on to not bother with keeping lists of things to have him check in on. For those of us that always need to have a sense of control and visibility, Bill delivers without having to be asked. I am certain that any fair minded review of him has to acknowledge the same. Finally, Bill has an excellent supporting cast. Alex backed Bill up while on vacation during our search. Alex is very much a clone of Bill and is a Portland native. I loved picking Alex's brain as we were forming our opinion on neighborhoods to strongly consider. Then there is Jane at the office. Jane is excellent at sending helpful reminders, notes, calendars to keep your timeline and milestone events straight, specially as closing crunch time approaches. They all work very well together and it was evident that they all keep up with email, voicemail and the steps in the process that are specific to you so as not to seem out of step when you call with a question or a concern. These folks happen to be the best of the best at what they do, and if they were in a different line of work they would be just as successful because their acumen, commitment and genuine concern for the client would translate into success in any profession.

My brother and I were trustees of my parent's home. Neither of us was ready or even prepared to handle this transaction, but Bill and his team came in and took the burden right off of us. What made it even more special was that our parents used Bill and Alex when they bought this house. It was nice to bring it full circle - from purchase to sale. It is how our folks would have wanted it. We, my brother and I, highly recommend Bill Grange and his associates if you are buying or selling a home. The attentiveness, communication, and care they exhibit during the entire process was amazing.

During the house hunting phase, Amy was very patient as we looked at many houses, and always made me feel supported. Despite the frenetic pace of the Portland housing market, Amy helped make everything feel very calm. She was great at researching possible houses to complement what I was also finding on my own. When it came time to make offers, I think Amy offered good guidance to ensure that I made reasonable offers, neither paying too much nor losing out due to lack of competitiveness. We had two offers that didn't go through (one due to inspections, another outbid), but Amy kept encouraging me, and the third house I made I an offer on, I ended up buying. Amy was great during the negotiation process, and helped me get a good deal even though the seller was difficult to negotiate with. Now I'm delighted with my house, and glad I had Amy's help throughout the process.

While I did a lot of research on my own, I ended up with a property she found that was completely off my radar (just shy of 20 viewed). She was timely in all her communications and very transparent about the process. I appreciate that she was balanced in her feedback and not afraid to call out major concerns. Considerate and respectful of my preferences and I never felt pressured even in this crazy market. Very happy with my experience and looking forward to working with her again for my future real estate needs.

From our first contact she was proactive, knowledgeable, professional and an absolute rock star. She answered my questions before I even knew what to ask. She was accessible literally 24/7 - I'd wake to text messages she'd written at 3:00 am! She negotiated a sale during the most difficult time of the year - we went to market the week of Thanksgiving - then handled a difficult closing during the worst ice storm in Portland's history. Should I ever buy or sell again Megan will be who I call first, and when my son is ready to buy his first home I'll tell him "All you need is Megan!" Thank you Megan. You're the best!

When we were searching for a house, she tirelessly showed my husband and myself place after place. Always available for questions, her detail work was impressive. She had advice about how much work to put into the house we listed for sale. The advice I did not take, I subsequently wish I had, as it would have same time and $$$. The bottom line is that Megan will work--and I mean really work--for you to sell your house or to find your new home.

Ahhh, so this has been a long time coming, as we have been in our house now since September. My…read moreapologies to our Realtor. She deserves all the kudos about to be bestowed unto her! If you're looking for your new home, or looking to sell your home, you most certainly should contact Theresa deSousa at this location! Theresa is experienced, trustworthy, dependable, hardworking, all while making a potentially painful process fun with her upbeat attitude & fun spirit. We began looking for our home last summer, & we ran the gambit of emotions. This is fun & exciting..... this is getting old..... this is a pain in the ass....... this sucks......... ahhhhh, we found it, this is so fun & exciting........ this is so scary.......... through all of that, Theresa was the glue that held us together. As first time home buyers, we went in with our eyes open. We did the research, read the books, took the class.... we still didn't know jack! Theresa helped us find an awesome home inspector, set us up with a lender, & walked us through, holding our hands, every step of the process! She really is wonderful, & we could not have asked for anyone better. I mean, she really looks out for you..... even the couple times we got all excited about a home, she would gingerly point out some potential problems & future cost/repairs that we wouldn't want to deal with. Never pushy, never. After we had everything signed, sealed, & delivered, there was an amazing "Welcome Home Basket" waiting for us the first time we stepped into our home. On top of that, she personally delivered a Christmas Wreath to us just after Thanksgiving to help celebrate our first Christmas in our home. Look her up, you will be so happy you did!

Terri Robertson is the best!…read more We found Terri by total accident, we wanted to tour a house her co-worker was selling, and she was available on short notice to help us out (since we weren't seriously looking and didn't have a realtor of our own yet). We liked her so much at that first walk-through, we decided to ask her to work with us to find our new home. The buying process was super easy for us, Terri made a few good suggestions of properties to consider, but mostly she was always available to help us tour properties, and is VERY knowledgeable about both historic homes and the Portland real estate market. She notices details and asks good questions, she's got an eye on what original fixtures and features of a house are a benefit, and which might give you a headache in the future. When it came time to make an offer, her market analysis had the price of the house EXACTLY what the appraisal came in at. She also wrote the contract with several little advantages for us (yay!), took care of getting bids for a sewer scope and a credit for the fix, and got a radon abatement situation handled. Overall, we were tremendously happy with the process, and really liked her as a person -- you spend a lot of time talking with your agent! It's important to like them! SO! When it came time to sell our old house, a year later, we contacted her again. Selling WAY more work, of course, but she helped every step of the way, from dealing with our tenants, to finding contractors for necessary repairs, to fun styling details! I re-did all of the lighting myself, and Terri helped to pick all of the new fixtures out. She was also available to do two very detailed walk-throughs to help get our "to do" list in order and make sure there was nothing an inspector would take issue with. In the end, our inspection was a breeze! (Well, except for another dang sewer scope problem). Given how much MORE time we spent with her in the selling process, I cannot give her high enough praise. Really, she knows this market well, understands what you MUST do to sell, what has good ROI, and what stuff can probably be skipped. In the end, we got the exact price we were hoping for (which was more than her co-workers thought we could do! Hah!). If you're looking to BUY or SELL, definitely work with Terri!

We had very specific wants and needs in our first home, and we called Tara our home therapist! Tara is very knowledgeable not only about neighborhoods, but also about the structure of homes. Through guided conversations about rehab or cosmetic fixes, she helped us sort out whether we were ready to make an offer or keep looking. She would gently guide us when we were not aligned and call for a break in the search to regroup. Tara wanted the best for us; she became our tour guide and friend. Tara was straight forward, extremely patient, warm, and a complete professional. After making an offer on a house while we were flying to Portland, we learned as soon as we landed that the offer was not accepted. We were so bummed, and Tara elicited from us what we loved in that house. At this point, we had not seen many new construction homes. However, Tara heard what we liked in the home that did not accept our offer and she understood our near future plans. She showed us a new construction home with the same builder for the home we did not get, and it had the same price with more space and new amenities. As soon as we toured it, we all knew this was the one! With us back in San Francisco, Tara helped with all the closing pieces remotely, reassuring us that all was good. We absolutely love our new home and Tara continues to be an invaluable resource. We could not recommend Tara more highly!

We introduced ourselves to Tara and Chris about six months before our move to PDX from the San Francisco Bay Area. While we had visited Portland before, we were totally unfamiliar with specific neighborhoods or districts. They listened intensely to what we thought we were looking for and the price range we could afford, and drives through various neighborhoods helped us narrow our search criteria. Then the hard work began with Tara - finding that one perfect house! We were able to get back up to PDX a few more times to scout houses with her. And Tara led us on video tours when we returned back to California. She was more than our realtor; she became our tour guide, companion, and friend. Tara was straight forward, candid, patient, warm, friendly and totally professional. She knew when we were too tired to drag ourselves through one more door and always game when we were up for just one more house. When we finally moved north, we took a short term rental while beginning our more serious search. Tara is very knowledgeable not only about neighborhoods, but also about the quality of the houses and how many of our boxes each checked. Through guided conversations, she helped us sort out whether we were ready to make an offer or keep looking. We never felt pressured! And then it just happened. Tara saw a listing for a house that had just come on the market and quickly made arrangements for us to see it that same day. When we stepped through the front door, Tara never said a word, but from her wise smile, she reflected back what we knew - this was the one! Tara quickly helped us craft an offer that was accepted the next day. Her expertise emerged again as she arranged and coordinated all the inspections and walked us through the paperwork. We closed three weeks later and moved into our wonderful new house. We still love our new home and Tara continues to be an invaluable resource. We could not recommend Tara Murphy more highly and know that you, too, will come away from the experience singing her praises. Terri Waller & David Salniker
