Ive been a patient here for over 11 years, and im very disappointed to have to resort to this. I…read moreused to love this place and always had a very helpful doctor. Lately however, its seem like nothing but problems. The final straw was my recent visit. I had a follow up appointment which was good. The problem was with the optical department. After my appointment, I asked if I could have my glasses adjusted because they kept sliding down my nose. Without a word the woman took my glasses to the back and adjusted them. After getting them back and trying them on, they were now snug but I noticed a bit of a pinch on the bridge of my nose. Take off the glass to look and theres now a fairly large crack on my frames that sit on the bridge of my nose. I pointed out the crack and was told that it was "normal". When I tried to say it they were cra ked before hand I was told "it must have been there before" followed by "I only adjusted the legs". I genuinely could not handle the stress and left. Once I was sitting in my car I could see that the frames had been twisted, the lenses were no longer flat across. The bottom of the right lens was now sitting on my cheek and the top of the left lens was contacting my eyebrow, not something I immediately picked up on as I was focused on them not sliding down my face. Considering I had been up for 16 hours by this point, I figured I might be okay for a couple weeks until I saw my eye doctor again. All week I dealt with the pinching on my nose. After a couples days I found that they were cutting into my skin. Once I realized they were cutting my face, I was going ti call the office, explain whats happening, and hopefully get things taken care of. I didnt get the chance before they completely broke in half, in front of my orthodontic surgeon. If it wasnt for my prescription safety glasses, I would have been stranded at the doctor's office because I would not have been able to drive home. I proceeded to call the office and explain everything. There was a pause and girl came back and told me she spoke to the woman in optical and that she warned me about what would happen if they adjusted me glases. I told her that was not was happened, I wasnt told a thing. I asked what can be done about this and was asked if I could come in. Once I was there I was told to head over to the optical department to see what they could do. Same woman that cracked my glasses was going to help me chose a new pair. When I explained that I wasn't going to pay for their mistake, she said that there was nothing they could do and that I have great insurance. (Even if i used my insurance I would have to pay for new glasses). I explained again, that I was not going to pay for their mistake, and once again she tried to back pedal by saying that she told me about what would happen if they adjusted my glasses and that it was policy. Again I told her, you did not say anything when I came in and reiterated exactly what happened that day when I did come in. Spoke to the front desk again and requested to speak to my Doctor. He wasnt in, so I requested that they call me the next day. Next day has come and gone and still no call. I honestly cant believe how bad this office has gotten in the last couple years and that they wouldn't make right on there mistake to keep a patient.

The front desk staff have varied over the years, and sadly, the last batch appears to have been misplaced: They collectively (and individually) have the personality and dispassionate guest-relations skills of stereotypical DMV workers. No more warm, smiling genuine greetings upon entering the office :( It seems like since they remodeled the office, the friendly front desk staff disappeared. I've tried to engage in a warm connection with this new batch of grumpy greeters, but got the bored look of a gen z (or is it y? I dunno...) looking at 'this smiling old lady' who wants to make friends? I wouldn't be surprised if they rolled their eyes at me once I turned my back. I recommend mixing it up and also hiring mature font desk folks who've lived and seen a little life, who understand and appreciate the customer service includes exuding warmth & compassion and a true interest in the patients who spend their money there. I would not encourage anyone to purchase their glasses at this establishment, because the staff is seemingly not trained in sizing frames to the face. They don't appear to know how progressive lenses need to be fitted to the eyes/face, and they are definitely not skilled at adjusting the newly arrived pair of glasses to the ears and nose - I know because all three of them made the attempt and did NOT give me glasses that function the way they should. I have to use my hands to lift my glasses up so I can see things on my laptop. Sadly, It felt like once they receive payment, there's not much incentive to provide a functioning product? Hundreds of dollars down the drain.... During my short time in the room with the Doc, I mentioned the problem with my glasses, but just got a disinterested 'Hum' in response... She was already on to other things....

She really knows her profession from what contact lenses are available in what increments to educating clients on eye care. Although Dr. Waldorf is no longer offering appointments the business continues to grow and I am delighted to see the office will be undergoing a bit of remodeling shortly. This will allow a greater offering of eye wear and a nicer waiting area. Look forward to seeing the new space at our next visit.

Somehow I lost one of them, so I ordered the same exact glasses again. I went for my appointment and had my vision checked by a personable young man who knows everything about eyes, vision, and eye glasses. He was very nice and explained everything clearly. A few days later, I received a phone call that my new glasses were ready. I went right up there and picked them up. A gentleman waited on me, and he was wonderful ... very polite! He asked if I thought everything was okay and if I had any questions. I am very pleased with my new glasses. The only suggestion I have for Visionworks North Providence is this: There are several young women who work there and they are not personable. No eye contact. No greeting. They need to buck up because they are professionally employed but they don't look or act the part. Their behavior won't stop me from going to this Visionworks location. I will, however, say this: As a business professor, their demeanor is going to hold them back from being successful in a professional employment setting.

She said she understood and then took me to a rack to pick out some options that were covered. After sitting back down, she tried to upsell every option to me. I declined them, and then was still met by a $110 quote on my way out. There are signs everywhere saying "no refunds", which did not inspire my confidence in the quality of their craftsmanship. I can get 5 pairs of similar quality glasses online for less money and be met with better customer service with return options, so I'll be doing that. During my short thirty minute visit, the phone was ringing off the hook, calls were going unanswered, and another customer was in the lobby literally crying in frustration over having had such terrible experiences with the office. I had a similar experience with this office last year and will likely be taking my business elsewhere in the future, which is a shame because again, the tech and doctor seemed knowledgeable and efficient.

I asked why and I was told by the receptionist that even though I confirmed my appointment by email prior thereto, because I failed to return their call when they called me to remind me of the appointment they cancelled it. I confirmed my appointment and that is all that should be necessary. I lost an hour and a half of work with no pay. I will find a nice little small office who will treat me with respect.
