2 sets of haddock and chips special + breaded clams

Our first visit and find the food very good. Haddock fish was super fresh - very juicy and flaky. Clams were normal. Service is good and attentive. Will recommend!

I've been here a few more times since the very first visit. Things are better and the place really has picked up a bit. They are much busier but they have upped their service to compensate for the growth of customer base it seems. While they have a special for 9 bucks (halibut and chips) I still lean towards the menu version because it's a full plate and overall a more filling portion. While I've gone the 2 fish and 1 chips route more than once (both with halibut and cod) I still think the single is good enough unless you are REALLY hungry. A single one and one full size serving and I'm actually satisfied and if you know how much I can eat then that's saying a lot for the more than adequate portion size. I still haven't gone and tried the other menu items and I may never. They have souvlaki, gyros, burgers and even a breakfast menu which seems can be ordered any time. Their fish is that good and as far as fish and chips go it's a good standard to go by being that it is their specialty and they are calling themselves Halibut House after all. They just added a very cool wallpaper on the entire side of the dining wall of a LONDON cityscape and it's how do you say... "brilliant".

This is a great fish place that Lambert has chosen for Friday lunch a couple of times now. It is a cool little place with great fish and good prices. The fish here is just great!! Normally I get the Halibut because their Friday special is so cheap (under $10 for lunch). Their fish is perfectly cooked and not greasy or soggy like some places.

Dry Halibut Fish not good. My son picked up the order and was made to feel awkward by the staff, looking for a tip. Odd for a pickup.

It was a wonderful atmosphere with soft instrumental music and the ability to hear the conversation of people at your table. To start, there was toasted bread with feta cheese and dill pickles. The starter salad was a huge supper entree size plate. The choice wax garden or Cesar. You could get the French Onion soup instead. Had the main Filet Peppercorn sauce. Asked for medium rare and it was amazing but it had a little much gravy for my liking. The baked potato side was a nice side (not too big) which came with butter and sour cream versus having french fries. Veggies were a few string beans, a slice of a big carrot and a piece of red sweet pepper. The plating of such fine expensive entrees was not very sophisticated. Thought it would be plated much nicer than it did. The server was very friendly and helpful. Chefs were accommodating to special requests and the food was excellent. A nice, special occasions/ celebration restaurant. It is better than a chain restaurant.

Fine Dining... casually!…read more When a restaurant delivers the best meals, with top shelf service in an intimate setting, you call that Michelin Star or at least recommended. When you do it effortlessly, you call that Buvette, a new standard in Casual Fine Dining. I had the most wonderful evening at Buvette in Burlington. Yes ... Burlington. Far away but worth the drive. Step in and friendly salutations are offered, along with overheard lively conversations of happy patrons that have been looking forward to a night out. It's been a long few years, and Buvette has spent their time setting up and after only opening 8 months ago, they are shaking up the dining scene. The home reimagined and constructed into Buvette is gorgeous. The passthrough fireplace, with Buvette proudly emblazoned on it, plays the center piece. The sunken sunroom dining area, the intimate bar, stairs to the second floor dining area all pass by warmth of the fire. And of course, opposite to the fireplace is the glass encased small collection of fine wines. Though Buvette is a Winebar, let's not forget their handcrafted cocktails. The owner was cheeky and named them after businesses around the historic Village Square of Downtown Burlington. From carpaccio to cauliflower bites, burrata to pastas, steaks to lobster, the names may be standard, but the food here is elevated to a whole new level. My fav? Obvisouly The Buvette Signature Share Platter! A mouthwatering board featuring steak, lobster, shrimps, lamb, and all the fixings. Whether you are here for vibes and drinks, spend some quality time with family, or a special someone, you really came to the right place. My night was amazing, however, take a gander at the menu before heading out. The place is casual but don't forget, it is Fine Dining. Bring your card made of metal... or someone you know that is!!! Downtown Burlington continues to impress me as a place for upscale living, and I think Buvette has given me another reason to perhaps make a move? Hmmm... CHEERS!!!

Appetizers: - PEI Mussels - Mermaid Chowder Mains: - Shrimp Roll - Lobster Grilled Cheese Dessert: - New York-Style Cheesecake The seafood was fresh and generously portioned. My shrimp roll was light, tangy, and surprisingly plentiful, and the chowder had a hearty amount of clams--comforting without being overly heavy. The lobster grilled cheese was rich and indulgent in the best way. We finished with a classic cheesecake that rounded out the meal nicely. But there's a good mix of other cocktails and beers too. The owner seems really nice, she was working the kitchen along with a couple other family members, good to see, especially since it was all women- love a female owned business that's doing well and doing it right. Chicken tenders were good, not great but I think they're on the menu to placate the kids coming so fair enough. The rest of the food was GREAT. We started with calamari and it was great, came with a lemon dressing already on it which was good and didn't detract from the crispiness at all. Also had lots of battered pepper rings as well, nice balance. Combo seafood basket was solid. The shrimp were great as was the haddock - all battered on site. Fries were thin and crispy. The winner though was the California Grouper sandwich which was a daily special. It was fantastic. I could have eaten two. Came on a soft roll, with slaw and bacon and avocado and I forget what else because I devoured it so quickly. I'd go back just for that sandwich. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're ever out by the lake.

I lived in Dunkirk for several years, but the changes that they have made to the pier and boardwalk are really unbelievable !!!! Shops & restaurants and this gem!! Let me be very clear in saying that there are maybe three tables inside; this is definitely a grab and go restaurant . However there is a huge patio with many many tables even if they are full, which is doubtful, you could certainly grab a spot on the boardwalk nearby . We happened to have a beautiful night and we have an event to go to at SUNY Fredonia so a friend recommended this place . We waited about 15 minutes to place our order. After ordering we enjoyed our drinks out on the patio while we waited for our food. I opted for an alcoholic beverage while my son had a virgin piña colada. Our number was called maybe 15 minutes later and we were served absolute deliciousness. My son ordered the California, which was a delicious crispy fish sandwich while I opted for an Asian chicken wrap. Our food was absolutely delicious. Served just right. The food temperature was perfect and the portions were ample . The service was wonderful. If I ever come upon a beautiful night again in Dunkirk, I will definitely be visiting this place !!!!

There are specials that change weekly. The interior is decorated with New Orleans memorabilia, medium lit, cozy (not large), with jazz music in the background. Service was attentive and friendly. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Blackened Lamb Chops (weekly special). 7. New Orleans Fisherman's Plate ($39.95). 8. Pecan Pie warmed with Ice Cream ($14.95). 9. Bananas Foster ($14.95). 10. Beignet ($14.95). Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

The owner also mentioned that they'll be moving soon to a larger location near the Etobicoke lake area, which sounds exciting. With a better location and more space, the atmosphere should be even better, and I think the restaurant will do really well. Definitely a place I'd recommend, and I'm looking forward to visiting again after they move.
