We have only experienced Excellent food and service from this establishment. We have dined in as well as done takeout. Always great service.

Nolan and I had been coming to Parkdale Fish and Chips for about two decades. Since losing him, eating out alone is hard for me, so this visit was already difficult. The woman at the front told me to go down the hall and sit down anywhere (so I heard). When the waitress came over, she asked whether someone had seated me. I explained what I'd been told. She asked if I had passed the barrier and said I should have waited there to be seated. I may have missed that instruction, but I felt chastised. She repeated herself when I said I was told to have a seat. People were watching when I got up and left with tears flowing, which was embarrassing. I called the restaurant afterward. The manager strongly defended the staff member, saying he had trained her to seat customers and had heard her tell me to wait at the barrier. I felt he was more focused on defending her than listening to me. There was no compassion and no effort to resolve the situation or keep a longtime customer. I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Perhaps a little care when someone is eating alone and some compassion. I will not return. read more

A little cozy spot where the food does not disappoint! Absolutely loved the food, went based off our servers recs and it was amazing. Get the haddock and the clam show set for sure. On top of all of that everyone was incredibly friendly, will visit next time in Canada. read more

It's really hard to find good restaurants that are close to main roads while you're travelling. this is one of them. I marked this place to stop anytime that I'm passing their town. The fish was perfectly cooked and was accompanied with a huge portion of fries or salad. the salad was very fresh and fries were perfect. their clam chowder was different from any other clam chowders that I've ever had, and i liked this one the most. they add dill to their soup which gives i very unique and enjoyable flavor. If you like tea, definitely ask for it. they serve it in a china tea pot and an actual cup and saucer. don't be afraid to discover their menu, we were group of 8 and ordered almost everything on their menu and everybody was happy with their food. read more

My first time at this restaurant and I was pleased with just about everything! My son recommends this place highly and was excited, because today, September 1, is when they start serving chowder. Naturally, my son ordered the chowder and it was the best clam chowder I have ever had in Canada! The fish was lightly battered and moist. I just wish it was a little crispier but I know how tricky cooking fish can be. You overcook it and you come up with dry and rubbery result. Their healthy serving of fries were absolutely a must try! Thick with a great bite. I may be wrong, but they seemed freshly-cut and prepared in house. Their home-made tartar sauce was a nice addition to the fish. The place was clean and the lady that waited on us was very pleasant, and so was the chef who brought us part of our meal. Overall, my first experience was great and this will definitely be a place worth going back for. Go get some chowder while in season-September 1 to April, so I've been told! This joint has a real chef in the building! read more

Amazing fish and chips! Definitely try the critters, just a few though! It has a very hometown feel. Service is very friendly.

Parkdale Fish and Chips has been around since i can remember, there one of the OG fish and chips places for hamilton. The only reason i give it 4 stars is because im picky. Lets start with the haddock, the haddock was good. It was a little light on the batter and smelled a little fishier than most haddock but it still tasted good. The poutine is where i get picky, it tasted good but it was lacking in curds. There was one large curd and a small hand full of smaller curds and that was it, the gravy was also a little light. The fries were cooked well and worked with the sauce and curds. I am someone that advocates a specific way to make poutines because i hate it when you eat the top of a poutine and than its just dry fries underneath. Sadly the poutine was that witch is what shaved the 5th star off for me, honestly, if it was layered better and had a little more cheese curds and gravy, my review would be 5 star. If you like fish and chips or are trying it for the first time than check this place out, its worth it. P.S. they don't use styrofoam containers and wrap there cardboard containers in good old news paper. read more

Came here first with my grandmother after hearing really good things about it from family and then again with my best friend and her friend. Really good fish and chips not burnt or greasy, the batter on the fish is crunchy and light, but not too light. I feel bad though in the middle of the meal I was having a conversation with my friend and I was talking about another fish and chip place I couldn't remember the name of and said it was good but not as good as hutches. The server ended up walking over right as I said "it was good but it wasn't as good as hutches" and I think she thought I was talking about Parkdale's. I was so caught off guard and flustered by her asking me what I said that I didn't end up explaining it to her and just said "I like the batter" Anyways, awesome place will visit again. read more

Great fish and chips. Not greasy and the fry's are the best around. Chowder is great as well. Little dated inside and the suit of armour is a bit weird. Staff very friendly. read more

We have been here multiple times as the fish and chips are so good! Nice light, crispy batter, good portion sizes and the fries are good too. Warm, friendly service is out of this world too! Just a nice, cozy, friendly place to have dinner! read more

Love this place and will stick with them! It's affordable, and the fish and fries are awesome! Not overly greasy. Staff are friendly and place seems clean. Like the fact that it's an old fashion style restaurant. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been there a couple of times and the food has been pretty good. On the other hand the service has a lot to be desired. Last night my wife and I went there at 6:35pm and there was one other couple seated there so not crowded. But the food and service was TERRIBLE. The fish was fine but the chips were really soggy with grease and disgusting. The service was terrible as well. This waitress had served us before and did the same thing last night. Whenever we asked for anything she kept forgetting it and we would have to ask over and over. Hate to see how she works when it is busy. Wont be going back there anytime soon. read more
