One of the coolest touches is the large display of vinyl records, it adds a ton of character and gives the whole place a unique, almost nostalgic energy. We didn't try the food this time since we just stopped in for drinks, but it's definitely on the list for next visit. I was in need of killing time before a crochet lesson down the street and I thought enjoying a cocktail was a good idea. I was able to get a seat at the bar and immediately starting reading the menu of their signature cocktails. I went with, Sign Painter. It was served in a fluted glass and was made with rye whiskey. I'm a big fan of rye and I found this drink very refreshing. I am a cocktail snob, I enjoy a well made cocktail. Being a snob, I want a mixologist that prepares a masterful cocktail. Enjoying my cocktail and watching the gentleman working behind the bar, I can honestly say, he is a masterful bartender. This visit, I did not order any food items. However, seeing the food severed around me, I'll definitely be back to enjoy to enjoy some Crab Stuffed Mushrooms or a Crab Cake Sandwich. The inside of the bar is compact. In addition to the bar sitting, there's a row of booths along the wall. Beyond the barroom, is a backroom that's is pretty comfy and classy, too. I guess once you've had big, it's hard to back to small. When we were done looking, my friend suggested we go get a Martini. If you know me, I'll never turn down a chance to enjoy a Martini. We hadn't been to The Royale in a while so we headed on over. We took seats at the bar and were quickly greeted by the bartender. He immediately had small refreshing glasses of water. After glancing over the Special Drink Menu, we both chose the Cold Brew Martini. It was made with 1220 Encrypted Vodka, Kaldi's Coffee Cold Brew, Giffard's Cafe Du Honduras, Giffard's Madagascar Vanilla and served up in a vintage glass. I love the glassware that The Royale uses. I hadn't eaten breakfast, so I looked at the food menu and ordered their Chips and Salsa. I had them add a side of guacamole for minimal fee. The chips are made in house and I was impressed with guac and salsa. For not being a Mexican restaurant, they were damn good. Especially the guacamole, it was so smooth and full of flavor. The bartender was friendly and we had good conversations with him and one of the waitresses. It was a warm and welcoming atmosphere, so I'll be back.
