Unsure if place has changed owners or they have a new cook but the food quality has definitely improved. The service was wonderful, great work at accommodating family with two strollers. I have come here twice now and loved it both times! They have a good selection of beers (including local ones) and drinks (including yummy tiki drinks). There is nothing better then sitting outside at their tiki bar over looking the bay and listening to the band jam. They have a good food menu and is very reasonably priced. Came here for drinks on a Tuesday night after having an awful experience at Braccos. It was my first time here and deff will not be my last. The bartender was awesome off the bat and so welcoming. They even have a deal for spiked seltzer's and for $3 more you can get a shot of vodka in it. One of the part owners was even there and took the time to introduce himself to me and my two girlfriends which is always a plus. He explained on the weekends they'll have bands playing in the outside section of the bar which is super chill with beach chairs in the sand. Thank you Halfway Down for being a cool spot! read more

Do Black and Brown lives matter to you? Then, don't go to this restaurant .Today I was having steamers and fish tacos in the outdoor seating. I wore a Black Lives Matter tee shirt. On my way back from the bathroom, a woman seated at the bar with a guy asked me if I have children. I was very surprised by the question, but I realized she had rolled her eyes at me on my way to the restroom and I'm tired of shying away. So I answer her that I have 3 children. She asks me if I care for the life of my children. She said that if I did , then "all lives matter" . I couldn't stop myself from saying that we ALL know that all lives matter but we have to LEARN that BLACK lives matter!!!! Have to clarify that I am a Spanish European women married to an African man. I clarified to this woman that my kids are black and I'm black also. Then I stepped out saying this is the ugliest face I have seen of this country. What this woman did was insulting me, but what the owner of the restaurant did a few seconds later was even worse....when he asked me to LEAVE HIS PLACE. I couldn't believe what just happened to us... busy as I was leaving, I saw other blacks and brown costumers. I just told them what had happened. The owner then come to tell me that he was not responsable for the clients' way to think... but he asked ME to leave. Why??? Was he also uncomfortable because of my Black Lives Matter tee shirt? He wanted to cover up what he had done by saying he gets assaulted all the time and his wife hits him. Unbelievable....He tried to undermine the importance of everything we are going through! My friend and I stopped in by chance on a Saturday around 1pm...light crowd and we were seated right away, facing the water. Our server Angela was friendly and the service was great. Our food was excellent... I had the blackened Salmon with vegetables and rice and my friend had the Shrimp and Salmon penne a la Vodka pasta The music playing in the background was a nice mix of 70's, 80's with some Bob Marley thrown in Would definitely go back again. Had dinner here with a rock band playing outside. Best lobster roll on Long Island and Ahi Tuna with wasabi mayo ! Angela out server was Friendly and attentive! My husband and I visited Halfway Down today for lunch at the Nautical Mile. We were able to sit near the open window area to feel as if we were outside. We were dining with an infant so sitting indoors with an outdoor feel was great. All and all, we had a great experience. Our server was very friendly and consistently asked us if we needed anything throughout our dining experience. As an appetizer, we had the buffalo chicken dip. For our lunch entree, I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. Halfway Down also had a specialty drink of the day. Today was the "Mikey Likey." My husband liked it so much he had two of them. There was also a good selection on the wine list and craft beers on tap. We will definitely come back to Halfway Down another time. read more

I can't tell you about the food or the service because the manager didn't want to give us a table. My husband and I went with our son on a Wednesday. Not prime time and despite the many tables open outside he told us we needed to sit inside to be served. I asked if the inside server could take us outside and then he said the tables were taken and that it would take 45 minutes for food if we wanted to sit outside because they were "busy." His tone was impolite and unprofessional. We left and the couple behind us were seated at the table we asked for as we walked away! read more

This place is just "eh." Food is hit or miss, as is the service. Avoid the honey mustard dressing for any salad as it's not really a dressing - super lumpy with a weird taste. Our food came quickly and our server was attentive in the beginning but then it took us over 30 minutes to get our bill and be able to leave. Fish tacos were okay, the fish and chips were probably the best thing anyone at our table ate, and the cheesesteak was not really good. I was really excited to try this spot out as my friends and I were huge fans of the old "Bamboo" it used to be. Boy let me tell you this place took a turn for the worst. First, the host was giving us a problem about where we wanted to sit. The entire place was empty and we just wanted to sit outside but somehow we couldn't get a table. Second, the live band was horrible and the music the bar was playing inside was even worse. Third, at the end of our meal I tried to tell the manager about our experience and he dismissed all of our concerns and rushed us out the door. Rude much? I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese and my boyfriend ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with onion rings. As if I wasn't already put off, my Mac and cheese tasted too spicy and somehow a little charred. My boyfriend's sandwich was mediocre. The onion rings were actually amazing and the sauce they came with were awesome! Overall, a pretty "meh" experience. The only thing saving this review from not getting a one star rating from me was our server, Angela. She was so sweet and understanding. When I complained about my drink tasting cheap she recommended their signature "Halfway Down" Rum Punch which was way better than the original drink I ordered. Then when I was nagging about my Mac and Cheese, she took the criticism with a smile and offered to swap my entree out or to buy me a drink. I told her how I was flat out not happy and she really went above and beyond to try to make my experience better. She saw that my boyfriend had an FDNY shirt on and told us about their Tuesday First Responder Night- Half Off Drinks For First Responders. Pretty awesome deal to give back to the community! This place doesn't even deserve the one star I gave it. My friend and I came here for the Cinco de Mile bar crawl. When we arrived we sat at the bar, and waited to be served. I noticed there was only one bar tender, a woman in maybe her late 40's. She was running back and forth to a table of other bar crawl participants so being a server I understood and gave her some time. Then once we thought she was coming over to us she went to the other group of people (that already had drinks) and asked if they were good/needed refills. We let it slide, then she passed us again and went to a guy at the other end of the bar to check on him. Not only did she not check on us, but what seemed to be one of the managers saw us sit down and he didn't even come over to us when she was running around. Finally we had enough with waiting and decided to get up and leave. As we were leaving a server came behind the bar and he asked us if we were being served and we proceeded to tell him what just happened. He offered to help us out, but we were fed up at that point that we wanted nothing to do with this place. So thank you to the guy who eventually helped us out, but this place needs better management and possibly better bar staff that can handle more than 3 tables. read more

I endured a horrible experience at this place. The food was awful, the chicken fingers were hard and over cooked. That aside, I was celebrating my 60th birthday and my favorite entertainer happened to be playing there. We reserved a table earlier in the day with the owner. I told him about my birthday and he set us up near the band. When the evening was over I received a call from a friend who spoke with the owner earlier this day and paid for my meal. It was supposed to be a surprise. The owner told my friend that I never showed up when in fact he was the one who sat us. To compensate for the blunder he sent me a gift certificate for the amount that she paid. I went down to the bar and mentioned that I had no interest in spending more money in a place where the food wasn't good and where they ruined my day. I left the gift card at the bar because Kevin the owner hadn't returned before I had to leave. He called me and said they don't issue cash for the gift certificate even though it never stated anywhere on the certificate to that. It's been three weeks since Kevin was to mail me back the certificate. This place is shady and poorly managed. read more
