Placed an order they Other Half fulfilled by Half Time back in late October/early November. Whomever packaged the boxes didn't pop the tabs so bottles were damaged during shipment (I mean dozens of customers complained about this on FB). Half my order didn't show up, ironic I suppose. It's now February 8th and I haven't gotten the second half of my shipment despite 25+ emails and 10+ calls. Yes, there's shipment issues across the board, but it's been empty promise after empty promise and little follow through by HT. Disappointed because their selection outpaced their service. Not only they carry pretty much everything that's possibly available in the east coast distribution market but they also have a great variety of beer available to can and go for a fresh tap taste. They have a great menu filled with exclusive brews to can in 32 ozs or fill multiple size growlers to go. They then take it's game to the next level. They also carry in an entire isle everything you need to brew your own beer. Everything from yeast to tubes to gallon glass screw-top jugs-Great for fermenting. I did eventually get my order but it took months with the same delay from brewery excuse every few weeks.

I purchased on line what they said was a 4 pack what I recieved was 4 loose cans that were dented and 2 had a deep scratch. When I contacted them they said that the beer is till good to drink and must have came from their distributer. This is a gift and now I have damaged good as a present for my son. If they were dented before shipping why would they ship them? Buying beer on line is very expensive ($21 & $22 handling) but worth it if you get a good item. read more

Internet buyers beware of Half Time Beverage. I learned my lesson. My in-stock Christmas order was charged to my credit card and confirmed when placed on November 30. After that, silence. Following up, I made numerous phone calls and emails looking for shipping information. Most emails went unanswered. Calls to people always in meetings or away from their desks went unreturned. As I grew more forceful, they responded with reassuring, hopeful fabrications, requiring continued panicked calls and emails. When the order finally arrived via overnight shipping on December 24, it was short three of the beers I ordered. In keeping with Halftime's stellar service, there was no acknowledgement of the shorted items, no automatic refund, and no response or action on my requests for refund sent on December 24 and January 17. Half Time Beverage was a miserable company to deal with this Christmas season, and I still don't have my refund. Life is short, and there are plenty of other craft beer retailers online. Holy cow the beer is overpriced! Go anywhere else and you'll find it 20 to 30% cheaper. But I suppose the selection is a kind of impressive, but certainly not unheard of! By far the best beer store in terms of selection that I've found upstate. On the east side of Route 9, it's located north of the Poughkeepsie Galleria and south of downtown. The store is huge, with a full aisle of American Microbrews, an aisle of Belgian and Germans, an aisle of English and miscellaneous foreign beers, an aisle with macro beers along with Canadian beers and Sam Adams, a glasswear section, some high end stuff by the register, and finally coolers surrounding the whole back of the store with most of the stock chilled there. It's pretty damned epic. As for the service, I found workers to be friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. Seeing the layout of the place and what they were doing in terms of stocking, I could definitely imagine them getting cranky though. Half Time's prices are at their best for 4/6 packs of stuff that's either readily available or seasonally released. For instance, $2.50 a bottle for Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is pretty damned stellar. Prices on bombers are also very good. There's also a counter in the front of the store with discounted beer that they're looking to be rid of. For more rare stuff that's hard to come by--think Aventinus Eisbock and Ayinger Celebrator--they're mostly par for the course with a few maybe approaching gouging territory. But considering that you can buy everything in one place while still saving a significant amount of money on average, it's all reasonable. Half Time is one more reason for me to visit Poughkeepsie more often. read more

What a great addition to Poughkeepsie. The beer selection is endless and the store is always bright and clean (although sometimes a little too bright when the afternoon sun beams straight into the windows!) :) You sort of have to be looking for it as you drive along Rt 9 because the turn-off is a bit short (no real on/off ramp like you'd see for the Galleria or other malls). It's also located right next to a wine shop - so it's a great little mini-strip-mall. Having spent a significant amount of time living and working in Europe, I always love finding beers that bring back good memories. Haven't done any major orders, so can't review that, but have interacted with the staff and they are friendly and helpful. They are happy to recommend something if you are new to the beer-world, or simply just tell you their favorites. Great spot. read more

Another place that I drove past many times and never thought to stop in silly me! Turns out I needed a bag of ice and we figured I could find that here. I ended up finding so much more! The place has an amazing inventory of beer and I decided to treat myself to a $15 bottle that was really good. Damn you, Half Time, why haven't you opened a store in the NYC area yet? Odd that I would open a 5 star review like this, but these guys are in the middle of freakin' nowhere AND THEY HAVE ALL THE BEER! The store is like a mall for beer. Just look at the photos - aisles and aisles of beer from all over the world. I visited Dublin and went to a place called The Porterhouse. They brew and serve their own beer there, and its great. Half Time had bottles from The Porterhouse!! Their selection of micro brews is INSANE - but even better, they sell them BY THE BOTTLE, so you don't have to go buy a 6 pack of something just to satisfy your curiosity. Like a lot of good beer distributors, Half Time offers fresh beer on tap. Pick a growler and they'll fill it up for you. The difference is their tap selection is fairly large. I think they have something like 10 different beers to select from. Their growler selection is pretty interesting as well. You can go for the basic generic bottles or you can buy a really beautiful growler with an intricately designed metal handle. (a bit pricier) What does it for me are the 16 ounce growlers - YES, YOU CAN GET A PINT TO GO! I have never seen any other place do this! Every beer distributor forces you to get 64 ounces at once. Even Whole Foods cuts off at 32 ounces. I might be able to go through a 32 ounce bottle on my own, but never a 64, unless I was having people over. This 16 ounce thing needs to catch on at other places! The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions about ANY of the beers there, you'll be able to get an answer from someone immediately. These guys know their stuff. If you're a fan of beer and are in the area then you should absolutely make a trip to this place. One minor caveat - there's a $10 minimum for credit. Been buying beer here for a long time but I have to call them out for my past experiences the past couple years. First, the tap selections have been pretty weak. The prices for growler re-fills are overpriced as well as whats in the cooler & on the shelf in general. A lot of beer on the shelf doesnt even have pricing which is annoying. It feels like their prices now reflect the arrogance of this establishment. Second, the overall beer selection used to be very good but I'm noticing less & less of a variety from different breweries. They really need to step up their game or they will continue to lose customers like me who enjoyed a wide selection at a fair price. read more

I ordered two gift baskets from this company for shipping to WA. They worked with me on making sure I would be able to get the gift baskets shipped to my state. However, only one gift was delivered. I contacted Halftime and they confirmed with the delivery company that only one of the gift baskets was delivered. They said they would get back to me and get it figured out. Six weeks later, they have not contacted me and not responded to follow up emails. The gift basket itself was neat, and the selection of ciders was really good. my boyfriend and i were in poughkeepsie this past weekend for a friend's wedding. the ceremony was touching, the reception was an absolute blast, the food was delicious, the bride-and-groom-hosted breakfast the following day was a special treat. overall a simply wonderful time. driving back home, i asked my bf for his highlight of the weekend. his answer: the beer store. tho not exactly my first choice...i can't argue that this place was indeed a highlight. half time was an unexpected treasure in the midst of seemingly nowheresville, new york. we first drove by en route to our hotel, which was just up the street, then headed back after checking in to pick up a couple beers to enjoy both while getting ready and post-wedding. from the street we had no idea that we were about to enter a beer lover's mecca; once inside, we were wandering the aisles for close to an hour, eyes wide and jaws dropped...like kids in a candy store. they offer make your own 4pk/6pk or buy by the bottle...refrigerated or room temp. we left with a decent selection of microbrews, most of which can be found around town at places like the foodery, but for two-thirds the price. seeing a huge variety of dogfish head brews got us excited for the chance that they might also carry PBC (fleur de lehigh is hard to come by 'round these parts), but no such luck. perhaps they'll carry it by the time we make our next trip up to visit the newlyweds! read more
