Half priced anything is good, right? Sometimes "discount store" means "dusty, disorganized, dig-through store". But, Half Price Books, especially this location, is clean, colorful, nicely organized, well-lit, and tons of fun to explore. Need a coffee table book or something to hone your hobby? The selection is wide. Collect comics as a kid? You will find both old and new titles. Need to park your kids somewhere while you browse a bit? The children's section will keep them busy for hours. Look out! You'll probably go home with some kids books cuz so many are under $5. The staff are helpful, personable and willing to lookup something for you, cross-referencing another store if you like. They do buy books, but not for what you might sell them on Amazon for. But heck, no shipping. And that box is out of your garage faster. I've bought gifts, educational books, humor, kids books for trips, and I keep finding reasons to come to Half Price Books. Whenever we are shopping at Petsmart or World Market next door, we always have the impulse to come in. My last check-in was such a visit, during which I bought a gift for a friend on impulse. It's a mainstay!

Half-Price Books Fort Worth, Texas Hwy 377 Rating (5 Being the Best) 4.5! Overview So I went to Pei Wei on Hwy 377 just south of the Watauga Target. Not my usual Pei Wei, but just as good! While I'm waiting for my ToGo order I take a walk next door, two doors down. There is a place called Half Price Books. Honestly I really enjoy a good book store, but didn't think much of the name or sign and I've past it up several times before. Today I have time so I walk in. This place is just what a good used book store should be. It's FULL of books. I walk into the smell of old pages, shelves lined, and stuffed, with material from top to bottom. A cove for each section lines the walls with shelves through the middle of the store as well. I found everything from Mitt Romney's Autographed book, to all the For Dummies editions. Then I turn the corner and... It's not just books! They have Wii, PS3, and Xbox games, magazines, comic books. It was a pretty cool experience, and I'll most definitely be back! Cost Exactly what you'd expect. Some items were $50, some were $3. I picked up a For Dummies brand book that retails new for $20 they had it for $9.99. Kids They had a whole area just for kids, it was pretty cool. If you are looking for more kids books for your library at home, stop by Half Price Books. Tips to enjoy it better... They also have locations all over DFW, not just this one. Check out their website: http://www.hpb.com They also buy and sell all of this. So if you have old books, comics, etc, that you'd like to sell to them, bring it by. Final Thoughts What a cool place. I'll be back for all my book hunting needs. Darrell G. All the books you see on the counter are the books I sold, there are a few not in the frame

I'm giving them 4 stars for the fact that even though I brought in 2 suitcases full of magazines and books I was in and out within 30 minutes but they get 1 star for giving me 25 measley dollars for all those magazines and books I sold but according to everyone I talked to I was being unrealistic in thinking I would get anything more than that. I keep all my magazines and books in mint condition and I thought that would up the offer from them but based on what the guy told me who looked through my things, they only consider future 2017 issue magazines worth anything which I don't know who would have future issue magazines laying around, so keep that in mind when bringing in magazines. Other than that the people at this location were nice enough and this location is pretty organized and their CD collection was pretty impressive so I will come back especially for the music.

Four stars for books but only 3.5 for vinyl records. Record selection is rather small and Mundane.

After he looked at all the cards he was reluctant to give me a number. So I had to play the guessing game and just figure out what he was valuing it at. I had already done research on my cards so I knew what they were worth in my head. Well over $100. I asked him if he would trade for a $20 card and a $10 card. Making the value $30. I knew I was taking a loss but I didn't really Care, I figured I might as well trade cards I don't want for some cards I do want even if I'm taking a Loss in value. He said no way, It's impossible to get to that value, I'm valuing your cards at like $15. So I just laughed, Got on my phone and started getting screen shots of the values of all my cards So I can show him what I'm seeing. I finally get around to explaining to him the values of my cards with picture proof, And he says yeah but you're pulling that up on an app, Apps generate fake Sales too so it's not reliable. And then he said he goes off of eBay Instead. Funny thing is when you click on the links on the app it takes you to the eBay listing and it shows the price it was sold at. So I told him this is eBay, And by the way eBay is also an app. Then he just started arguing, And acting obnoxious. Saying he doesn't use apps, Blah blah blah. He also went on to say eBay is full of fake sales, but had just said he doesn't use apps, just eBay sales. I told him that everybody Uses these apps to determine the value of cards. He asked me who is everybody. I said other collectors, Other card shops. And he said are they running my business? And then he said when you order something on eBay can you get it in 30 seconds. And I said no. And he said exactly that's the benefit of retail is that you can get it in 30 seconds and not have to pay for Shipping and fees. I said OK well you're just making my point stronger than because that means people paid more than what you're saying my cards are worth not only on price, But they also paid fees and shipping. Got to the point where I just had to leave, When I got out to my car I realized I had forgotten my drink inside and went back in. When I went back in he said some smart comment to me, In front of another customer. Just more of his usual nonsense. This guy is an absolute clown, And to his question about if these other places and people are running your business, No they are not. And that's why they are bigger than you, And that's why they have more product than you when you have none. The only product you have Is what you buy at another retail store, because nobody is sending you anything. You're too small of a business. And it's probably because of how small your way of thinking is.

Can you find items for less somewhere online? There is a chance that you can as with most things, even target pulls the buy it online for pick up for less than walking into the store. Can you make more by selling your items online yourself? Yes you can! There is some trade off to being able or willing to take a bit of a hit on things if you know its out of our hair right away vs things sitting at our home for possibly months waiting for it to sell on online resale sites. For my personal experience, this shop took care of us when repairing my PS2. They have always been awesome to my kiddo when we've brought him in to shop. He got more for some skylander figures, than he would have at other similar stores. Honestly my kid made money on the skylanders cause we had gotten them on super clearance when being phased out of most stores and we had held on to them and lucked out that my younger kiddo liked the game too!

Gotta love finding and supporting small businesses. It's a quaint book shop with many little…read morereligious trinkets and Jewish items. Depending on when you visit, it's mostly quiet, which gives the store lady, Norma, plenty of time to get to know you and your needs. The selection of books doesn't have much variety other than Bibles (from the Hebrew Bible to the New King James Version), devotionals, and some books from original authors dedicated to finding community, handling grief and Christian books for mothers/mother-child relationships. If there's something you'd like, Norma can place an order for you. I was able to purchase a NKJV Bible for $30 and I was given a free bookmark and calendar. I'll have to come back here next time on my own. Despite being 27, I was mistaken for a teenager twice by Norma given that my estranged but recently reconciled mother kept speaking on my behalf on what I was looking for. It soured my mood to have a conversation about God and my needs with Norma as my mother couldn't leave me alone with Norma without interjecting, so I left them to their conversation. As I ventured towards the back of the store, I found a nice little section that encourages visitors to request a prayer. Norma also owns several cute birds near the back of the store, which I find really neat. Personal qualms aside, Norma is a brilliant person and she made the shopping experience smooth. God Bless!
