They had educated me and provided information on what I need to do to prevent my main line from clogging until they can can out next week to do the repair work. After 30 years, ground settles and "shit" happens. Its part of home ownership. But these guys know what they are doing and will fix it for me and I'm very happy about that. I was given an inspection date very quickly, was given a 2 hour time frame (between 8-9am), but they arrived late. Once the inspection was completed I asked for a date and time for it to be pumped and paid cash for both inspection and pumping. Got no receipt and no explanation as to why. Was told by the rep. that pumping would be "this afternoon". I called the office to get an actual time, or time frame, and she said "between 1 and 4pm", but she would "call me" before the truck came out to my home. ( their hours were 7am to 5pm) . I waited til 3:45pm and called the office for an update but there was no answer. Left a message. I called again at 4:55pm and still no answer. I left another message. "No worries" never showed up at all that day as promised. Next morning at 7:10 am I called the office and spoke with a gentleman. Again, very polite, but had no explanation for the no-show, but would "look into it." He called me a couple of hours later stating their staff had accidently pumped a neighbor's house down the road with a similar address. They did indeed come to my house (a day late) and pumped MY septic tank. If they had just called ME previous to their pumping, as promised, all of this could have been avoided. The work they did for me was excellent, with great prices, and they were very nice people, but something is lacking in their communication with their staff and their customers.

Russell not only pumped my tank, I mentioned I had root issues- he said I got you. He educated me, showed me how to do a drain field test myself and answered a bunch of pending questions that I've always had. Russell is professional, kind, fast, transparent and so easy to work with. I truly feel like Sterling should be every septic owners go to. They haven't failed me once and I am a picky customer. Fortunately, we got two other septic companies to look at the project. We have learned that the main line they scoped is NOT even part of the septic system and did not need to be scoped. So they charged us for unnecessary work. The company we hired to do some recommended work helped us navigate the county offices and saved us several thousand dollars. The cost of having other companies review our project was costly, but there was no destroying our side yard and the final project was much less expensive. I would be wary of hiring them.

While he was pumping out my system, he taught me a ton about best practices in operating and maintaining my septic. He even let me make a video of him to share with my husband so we both knew what was going on. I liked that he was a one-man shop, and just a really nice guy out there doing the dirty work, and doing it well. No one looks forward to having their septic pumped, but Im actually looking forward to seeing him again in a few years because I know I'll get great service!

Sean and Al came by to check things out. They found a blockage in the inlet and they took care of the issue in maybe 20-30 minutes. They were great! The estimated price for the visit was already talked about with me from the dispatcher and the end cost for the visit wasn't too far off. Hopefully no more septic system issues come again for a long time but when it does I'm calling Hemley's!

I contacted hemleys during October 27th for a full septic tank that appeared to be failing. On Oct…read more27th they came out replaced a burned out pump and stated there was drawdown issues on our lateral lines. The 29th they came out again to try and diagnose/fix the issue. Eventually while we were at work they left, I got no phone call or communication and the massive hole in our yard filled back in destroying the landscape. I eventually reached someone by phone requesting an update, thinking our septic was resolved. One of the tehcs told us our DRAINFIELD has failed and they tried a temporary fix, but until it can be rectified pooling will occur in the yard if too much water used in the home. I was told on the phone by the tech that unfortunately this could be close to a 30k fix and it was left at that, with no guidance on what to do or where to go. I paid my bills right away to hemleys that week for the work they did complete. This process ended up taking Nov until February to rectify due to the misdiagnosis from hemleys. I had to pay $5000 to a drainfield designer pay numerous fees to the County for inspection which all took time. Meanwhile we had pooling in our yard and could not fully use our water and appliances in a house hold of 4. A massive 8ft by 8ft deep hole was in the center of our backyard all this time from testing by designer and county. Eventually, I found a very reputable septic company to complete the design work from the designer. Within hrs of the septic company starting the job and doing some basic diligence they discovered 2 of the 4 lines had valves closed/broken and that was all that needed to be replaced. Fortunately, this company was honest and came forward with the information. However, hemleys cost my family nearly 8k in unnecessary work hiring a designer, other fees all due to this misdiagnosed failing drain field. On April 22, 2026 I respectfully asked for a manager or owner of Hemleys to discuss this issue. I was told to provide the documents from the last company and they reviewed county records. I supplied this within minutes. I then never received a single phone call or update as I called daily until 4/30/26. I was consistently told the owner and or manager are not available on several days. And then the manager after 2 days of that stated the owner has not reviewed this yet. This was an extreme inconvenience to our household and costly due to the negligence that made for several months of an inoperable septic tank when this issue could have been resolved in a few hours like our newly hired company completed. At this time we have been blown off by this company we had used and recommended for years. Based on the data and information we have we will continue escalating this in the necessary manner legally as we have the emails sent to our designer from Hemleys supporting them diagnosing failing drain field, that in fact was no where near failing.

Our septic alarm went off Fri night, they were out Mon morning and replaced the pump and a float. They were very good at explaining the issues. Great guys, friendly, fast service, and a good price too! They have a jet system to clean out lines. Soon they will also have a septic pumping truck!
