    FIRST AND ONLY BULLSEYE!
    David C.

Decided to bring my friend here for her birthday...also pretty confident that I can win easily! Yeah, I can't aim and it pretty much ended becoming a game of chucking the axe and as long as it sticks, yay! Joking, I got 1 bullseye...after 45 mins. The length of time to play depends on the size of your group. The price remains the same per person though. There's also a coach to teach and keep score as well. Josh was our's, but I have a tendency to make my arm move diagonally instead of straight. I would definitely come here again!!

Had a great time here on the evening of Saturday, December 11th. We arrived and were immediately set up with a throwing lane and a coach who explained the two ways to throw the axe (overhead with two hands, or one hand over the shoulder.) We were not rushed through our time even though most lanes were taken up and they had reservations after us. Highly recommend. We will be going back!

1st-timers here. Had so much fun yesterday! Came with my 19-year old son and my boyfriend. Great experience all around and no doubt will be back. Nora, our instructor, was amazing!!! Cannot say enough about her. Fun, friendly, knowledgeable and gave good tips as we played. Loved it!

Came here for a meet up and really enjoyed myself. The staff explained all the safety measures and the different ways to throw axes which I thought was really great. They continually monitored as well as gave guidance to you in a helpful and encouraging manner. Like, "hey I noticed you were doing this, try this out, or maybe try doing this" which i thought was a good approach to interaction and instruction when seeing people throwing axes for the first time. There is also a water fountain, excellent, hydration is important. The bathroom was maintained which is also a plus, nobody likes going to a gross bathroom. Overall, if I'm in the area and have the spare cash I'd probably do this again. I'd probably try to be in a lane where there is nobody next to me though because waiting for somebody else to finish throwing just so I can retrieve my axe was tiring. Safety first though!

I had a blast here. When I first saw/heard of axe throwing I was thinking to myself who would go and do this for fun? Well let me tell you, it's fun. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and supportive throughout the process of learning to throw! You can either throw one hand or two handed and for me I was better at the two handed throw. My boyfriend did better with the one hand. The axes were nice and I could see people really getting into it getting nice axes that are always sharp cause some of them were dull making them less likely to stick. Once the wood gets pretty beat up it also became more difficult to stick but it was still so much fun just throwing an axe and honestly I was pretty good at it.

Way too expensive compared to other facilities. The 'coaches' are lax and chill. Not much to the facility.

When we arrived, we were greeted right away and directed to our station. There was no waiting around, which I loved. I thought it would be more of a "throw whenever you want" situation, but we actually had an instructor with us the whole time, which ended up being a good thing since I was a complete beginner. Our instructor, Eian (hope I'm spelling that right), was great, funny, super helpful, very engaging, and patient. He explained everything clearly and gave tips that actually made us feel confident throwing despite our many misses haha. We played a game toward the end of our session and somehow I won which was surprising considering I had no idea what I was doing, still don't! After axe throwing, we went to the bar. It wasn't busy at the time, but it did take a bit for the bartender to acknowledge us. Once we ordered, we walked around to check the place out while we waited for our food. It's definitely more than just axe throwing. There are pool tables, an area with board games, cornhole, darts. It was overall just a fun, social vibe. As it got busier, our food came out but we didn't get plates at first. Then plates came, but no utensils. We waited a while and asked the bartender if she had any, who told us to track down the server ourselves (that was [not] fun). Eventually we got everything we needed. The food is more of a shareable style, so we ordered a few items and honestly, everything was really good. Despite the small service hiccups at the bar, overall it was a fun experience and I'd definitely go back, especially for axe throwing and the atmosphere.

Ya know, axe throwing is a little like indoor skydiving. You know about it, hear about it, maybe…read moreeven read about it. But only because you assume, at some point in your life, you may end up doing at least one of these things by accident, if not intentionally. And typically, with a friend. So, when my wife's bestie suggested the idea of tossing axes at splintered wood to purge out pent up aggression, I thought to myself, "Self, this could be therapeutic and fun. Let's do this!" As you can imagine, throwing axes is nothing like throwing water balloons. Ergo, you must sign a waiver prior to partaking in said lumberjack competition. At any rate, we booked our lane ahead of time, which I *think* is mandatory anyway. Like, you can't exactly just walk in and take a lane. The site seems to encourage its visitors to book a reservation first. Just my assumption though. Anyways, after signing away our rights to sue the place in the event one of us pulls an Anakin Skywalker and lops off a limb, we proceed to the throw house's location. I'd like to take this moment to mention how tucked away this place is. Keep in mind, I'm the first and only person to review this place at the time of writing this. The fact that this place didn't exist on Yelp before I showed up blows my mind. But I have two theories on this.. 1.) The place is too new. 2.) Not enough people know about it for whatever reason. Therefore, nobody bothered to add them to Yelp till now. This is one of those "blink and you'll miss 'em" locations, too. So, ya ain't finding this one by happenstance whilst going for a casual drive. When we walk in, it takes a while to get a hostess. But we're eventually confirmed via our reservation and given a lane. Which was defective. So, we proceeded to the next lane over. This one was better. We got a thorough demonstration and crash course on axe throwing by our... "Axepert" (yes, that's what they call themselves). And honestly, I gotta say...axe throwing isn't as difficult as you might think. Only pro tip I could give is...watch a YouTube video ahead of time and you'll learn a bit about holding techniques. The main thing is not to grip it tight like a baseball bat. It should be a little loose, but not TOO loose of a grip. But don't quote me on this; I'm not an Axepert. OMG...I can't believe I just said that (-‸). Moving on.. The bar (if you can even call it that) is pretty basic. Beers, wines, and a few foo-foo drinks, I think. However, the food...was pretty pathetic. Bland chicken tenders with breading so thick, it tasted like those frozen tenders you get at the grocery store. The seasoned curly fries were...okay. Not quite as seasoned as I'd have imagined, but whatevs. I guess the ladies loved the stuffed poppers, so....winning? ¯\_( )_/¯ It's bar food, yeah. But like, it shouldn't suck? 3 out of 10, stick with the drinks and the axes. And now, we have to talk about the prices. Now, I've never been axe throwing before, so I have no basis for comparison yet. But even I know that something here is f**ky in the way the prices are presented. If you book a reservation ahead of time via the website, you still won't see the prices until you click "Book Now". Note that the prices shown are per person, not group. Also, it varies based on the size of your group. Thing is, you would never know any of this if you just walked in or called in without using the website. It's....dubious, to say the least. So, our entire bill ended up being over $150 for 4 people. And that was only for 1 hour. I dunno how much axe throwing goes for at other establishments, but....arrive with a full wallet. That's all I'm sayin'. As far as first impressions go, the activity itself was surprisingly invigorating. The place itself is decent enough. Though, I can't help feeling like there are most likely better ones out there. So, I'm holding out for one of those. For now, Axel's Throw House receives 3 axes hurling through the air dead on target out of 5.
