We all got the deal on Trubates and wound up paying like $29 for a full day of paintball in the woods. Actually, we all paid the $5 for the cheap camo jumpsuits they had there, and later on we bought a case of more paint because we wanted to keep playing. What I loved was that they had so many different scenario games. The fact that they had a ton of room and had different sets all over the place meant that every game was completely new and different. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The other people there were cool, even the people who are really into paintball were friendly and didn't get bothered when I asked random stupid questions (and later shot them). We had a gorgeous day for it, but there was a lot of mud to stomp around in, and expect your inner ninja/commando skills to surface because in this setting it's really not possible to suppress them. I wound up with more than a few bruises and scrapes, but I didn't even really notice them until I got home and was scrubbing the paint out of my hair (really wasn't difficult). Overall, an absolutely freakin' awesome time. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Grab a group of friends, bring them to the woods in Upton, and shoot them - a lot. - Actually that's not really accurate because they were team games and my group wound up being on the same team for every game except the last one....when they all shot me....a lot...but i still won the objective and won the game for my team, so it was worth it :)

The owner of the place was frequently walking around and helping the refs out. Even he stressed safety. There are a lot of hard core players to find it intimidating but don't worry. The staff is very good at splitting the teams up with a mix of experienced and newbies on each team. If you have a large party, making it private would help reduce the fear of being pummeled by paintball.

I've reached out to the owner and after two days, John still hasn't responded nor reached out to…read moreme. So here is my review! Planned a group event for 15 kids and the owner suggested doing a private group party, which was $500. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early so the kids could be briefed and start promptly at 12:30. We ended up having 13 players. While we waited for the kids to have their first round start, I was handed the menu for Famous Pizza. All of the prices are marked up (+ $8 for a square pizzas, + $3 for chicken tenders, + $3.50 a salad, etc), which I wasn't expecting. I knew we had to have the order delivered but saw Famous charged $2, no biggie. Well, I asked for our food to be ordered and delivered right away since our party started at 12:30. Our kids started their first round at 12:50. At 1:50, I inquired about our food and the person I placed the order with went to check on the status. But their face showed they forgot to place the order. I asked the manager to cancel the order. By this point, the kids had gone through 20,000 gel blasters (in one hour!) and we had to pay $70 for more! At this point the manager offered us more gel balls for free so we could have more time for pizza to be delivered and not have to worry about the gel ball supply. Then when I went to leave, the staff was trying to charge $500 even though I paid a $100 deposit to the owner and our balance was $400. I could not get ahold of the manager nor the owner when our party ended. The $500 gave us a small room, which wasn't big enough for the kids and some parents, and apparently meant no one else was in the room playing gel blasters at the same time. Every 8-10 minutes the room is used by groups for different games, such as airsoft or gel blasters. It was NOT worth $500 seeing how quickly the ammo was used and there was plenty of seating space in the larger, open area. I left very frustrated with how the situation was handled with not so much as an apology. The manager took ownership for the food not being ordered, but I feel they could have comped the $70 extra we spent on gel balls. Also, had I not gone to ask for a receipt to show the pizza order was refunded, I would not have received a refund as my card was needed to process the refund! The kids had fun, but none of the parents were impressed with how things unfolded. I would not return to this venue, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Finally, the snacks that were available for purchase should be checked by staff. My son went to grab a few different snacks that all had holes chewed in them

I've gone to "the bubble" for years for soccer games with my kids (winter league) and also for two…read moreyears with one in their club soccer program. Regarding the latter, personal experiences with John Smith himself always fun, positive and entertaining - however rest of club experience was very disappointing, your mileage may vary, but I'm certainly not a fan based on my experience. This is a review of the facility being a venue for (winter) soccer league games, and this comes from many years of going there with two children for just that reason. If you have not been, the place is basically a large bubble\dome (think tennis bubble but much larger) that holds two walled turf fields built like hockey rinks with walls on all sides, and then PlexiGlass shields and nets in others designed to keep balls in play and away from spectators. Each field has metal grandstands on one side of the field for spectators. Amenities-wise, there is a small bathroom area, a tiny shop up front where you can buy basic soccer stuff, and\or uniforms if you are in the club program. They also have an inflatable play area suitable for young (under 10?) kids. At times they have also set up an inflatable laser tag game but I haven't seen it recently. Most of the time I'm there I see kids playing soccer or training for lacrosse in the two turf fields. There is also often a large contingent of local Ecuadorians playing volleyball on a side field. Lots of activity. The facility wasn't really 'nice' when I first started going years ago and if anything has gone downhill a bit since. It's always seemed kind of beat up and dirty inside. Their parking lot is dangerously unlit, and feels unsafe at night, especially in winter. You can't see the ground well, nor easily catch sight of the kids darting from the parking area to the front entrance. There isn't even an illuminated sign at the entrance that makes it apparent where to turn in for parking. The have changed food options several times over the years. For a couple years they had a snack bar that had a good selection of food and seemed to be staffed by really nice people. But it was often not open for night games. Then this winter I went in and was dismayed to find it was closed down, replaced by a row of (mostly I think) drink machines. One last thing - on one field spectators and players are on same side and can see the scoreboard clearly. But on the back field players and spectators are on opposite sides, and they hung the scoreboard so that the players can see it but spectators cannot without getting down from the stands and waking a few feet away to turn and loop up at it. It's really annoying that I pay for and drive my kids to the games for years, and I can't even see the score half the time. I've asked JSS staff about this, they don't care, and generally my impression of them is that they are really not very customer oriented. This is a shame because the location is perfect for serving the surrounding towns, and the kids really like playing indoor sports, but the facility is in desperate need of an overhaul and maybe a change in management.

We live 30mins away, had a Groupon for their playzone that we were saving for a special rainy day treat. Brought 5 kids to the play zone and they had a blast. Their website said they were open until 8pm, but after being there for an hour from 2-3pm they announced they were closing. I politely showed the website hours & was told they didn't have time to update the website yet, so I asked for a voucher because we were disappointed and I felt it was unfair & poor customer service. We were told no, and that she told me they were closing at 3 upon check-in (which nobody remembered hearing). I have never written a yelp review before but felt this was such poor customer service, really disappointed. It's not the money, it's the customer service. Would have made a big difference to show compassion & understanding in this situation.
