We were there for a birthday party for a 13-year-old, and out of our group of 15, I was the only one who had ever fired a paintball gun (and my last round of paintball was 25 years ago). Awesome time! Great courses, fun and charismatic referee who was great with our group, great staff overall who were very accommodating, informative, helpful, and friendly! Only thing I'd suggest for them in the future is to make it so the different teams are more obvious, like have bright colored sashes or something instead of just colored arm tape (tough to see who was on what team when across the field and hiding). Friendly, Fun and Good For All Levels! I am writing this review as a newbie, but I planned and attended with 7 other people of different levels, ranging from the ages of 35-45. I traveled from California for a surprise birthday and had to plan it from afar. The staff was clear with all information regarding prices, rental equipment and description of what we would be doing for the day. Arrival: We all arrived right at 9am, signed in, and were able to pay individually(AMEX, MasterCard and Visa accepted). The cost was $58 each for a party, which included: * 500 rounds * gun * full mask(covers ears, forehead and down to chin) * two tubes on a belt to carry extra ammo * unlimited air * lunch with drink and chips (pizza/cheeseburger). $5 for additional lunch *2000 extra rounds is $65, ($40) if you have your own equipment. We bought 3 extra boxes for a full day with 8 guys. We had a few issues with equipment throughout the day to which the staff gladly fixed or swapped equipment. Let the games begin! There are two teams on the field(about 12-20 people per team), and being the less experienced, we got to start off defending a fort. There were some real pros out there, but people were all friendly, and it didn't deduct from our fun. Throughout the day, we played about 12 games (20 min each with about 10 min between), all with different scenarios. The course is 14 acres with tons of obstacles to hide behind. There are tons of trees and no open field. This is great for avoiding being hit, but can be trying to aim at your target through. 3 referees explain each game clearly, and take the course with you. They yell out if a man is hit, and make sure no one fires at them. They are strict with the rules but exceedingly helpful. Good for everyone: At one point, we had kids as young as 10 (many with professional equipment that could take us out from a mile away), men and women, and people as old as early 50's. It does require a good amount of walking, some climbing, and crouching. No one seemed to bully or push the boundaries of fair play. The Staff: I've peppered my review with comments about the staff, but since this was one of my biggest concerns, I'll give some more kudos. Being a first-timer, I felt like an idiot, well, most of the day. The refs would fix my gun in the field, check to see if I was actually hit, and direct me when I was totally lost. They were very heavy on the rules, nobody was hurt, and there were no arguments of real issues. The people working the office, food concessions, and equipment desk did whatever they could to make the day enjoyable. It's rare that you try something unfamiliar and have an incredible experience. I was throwing my step-son a 13th birthday party. We had done paintball indoors but never outside so we thought it would be nice to try that, especially since the party would be in August. As you may know, there are 2 outdoor paintball places in the Upton area. After trying to contact both to discuss party options, I was unable to reach Friendly Fire's competitor. So, when I spoke to Will, one of the Owners, I asked him to convince me to use his company rather than their competitor. After speaking with him, I took a chance and booked the party. It was $350 for 10 players for 2 hours of paintball. Then, $25 for each additional player. The staff were awesome. Kyle greeted us upon arrival and was kind enough to have a small tractor to bring our cooler, cake etc to our picnic area. They also allowed me to use their fridge/freezer to keep the ice cream and cake at proper temps. Overall, all staff were helpful including refs. Everyone was so nice and really a pleasure to work with. I would definitely go back since they were all fabulous. Some things I wish I knew... 1. If you are having a party, I suggest guests arrive a bit early. So if you want to play from 2-4, tell everyone it starts at 1:30. You would have ample time to fill out your waivers, get your gear and hear the rules/safety tips without rushing. We had some late comers and the staff were going to give us 2 hours of play time no matter what but my preference would have been to start at the scheduled time. 2. When not attending a party, ladies play free. 3. The paint washes out of clothes. 4. There is no sink-bring paper towels, hand wipes etc. They provide hand sanitizer (Purell) but I did not feel this was enough. 5. Kyle's well behaved black lab was on site the whole time. She was so sweet, but remember they do not want you to feed her. So definitely go there whether it is to play or have a party. Either way I am sure you will love it. We did. read more

This is the place to go to play woodsball in upton. The staff is super friendly and the crowds are more receptive to newcomers than fox4 located in the same town. The best part about FF is the forts found throughout their woodsball course. Multi level and large these things really change the dynamic of the game. Bonus, they usually give a free pass to the last man standing on the last game. Good stuff. read more

The staff is incredibly nice and professional, and the facilities are fine. But the fields are pretty rocky and can be unbalanced and there are little artificial structures. If this is your first time or if you love woodsball this is a great place, but if you love paintball it's OK. Some additional tube structures on the field, bridges, and mats would go a loooong way. prices are def a selling point as well as their friendly staff. came here for an event of about 15 of us ( got the half day package group rate at $30, i think regular is 45) managed to nab a private field as well as the choice of joining the main game...but i dont think anyone in my group wanted to shoot down middle school kids....except me.... lol staff again was very helpful and genuinely wanted to help. the only bad side is that the parking lot as well as the road leading to it is very hard to find as well as to park. its essentially a dirt path that leads to just some gravel and open grassland. would def come here again read more

I love frienly fire paintball. The staff is very friendly. They have good gear and are very knowledgeable about all of the equipment. Is family friendly. We take our children with us and make a family day of it, taking turns going out so one of us is with the kids at all times. Women don't have a cover charge either, so that's great. read more

I've been playing paintball for 2 years now and I must say this is 1 of my favorite places to put not only is it a good size field with fair refs good food and competitive prices but it also was the only military simulation league registered field in Massachusetts. The price a very good is 32 dollars for entrance for a full day of play 25 for a half. the ammo prices are also very good beginner level paintballs are $45 while intermediate r $60. An average day of paintball usually around 100 dollars maybe a little more dependent on the ammo you buy. the refs are right there making sure their is fair play amongst every one. they don't have much of a pro shop when it comes to it so I recommend that you buy whatever you need before hand Ie barrel covers paintball masks paintball pods and pod carriers. Me and my team play here once a month and overall love it. for me it is only 20 minutes right down 495 from my house. read more

My group and I went there to celebrate our friend's birthday....it was a GREAT time! The staff there was very helpful and friendly. The prices there are pretty good considering GIRLS PLAY FOR FREE all day every day. All they would have to pay for is the paint which is $20 for 500 rounds. I went to Fox 4 paintball for years until this year when Fox 4 unexpectedly cancelled there scenario with no warning and very little notice. So I figured my friends and I would give Friendly Fire a shot. This place was great. The staff here are very helpful ( way more so than Fox 4). My gun was having problems all day and they kept helping to get me back up and running at no charge. Finally, the gun broke a 3rd time so they gave me a rental for no charge just so I could get back out there asap. Overall this place was so chill and a great place to go if your'e an expert or literally have no idea what you're doing. HIGHLY recommend. read more

What a great place! I had done paintball one other time with my adults sons, and loved it. I had my 60th birthday party at Friendly Fire Paintball yesterday. We had 32 people there, with 22 playing, ranging from 15 - 62 in ages. Everyone had a blast! Even the non-players had fun, as they could see the action on most of our games. For three hours, we had one private game after another, on different fields with different rules. We had two refs just for our group. There is no running water (except the flush toilets), so the owners carted all our food and coolers of drinks in their off-road vehicle to our picnic tables. They could not have been more friendly and helpful. The outdoor playing areas are really cool - lots of woods and structures. Finally, the price is a lot less than the competition. It was so reasonable! One caution - the rental masks do fog up in warm weather (as they do everywhere). My sons and I made the smart move of getting decent ones online for $30 each, and that was so worth it. Finally, there was also a kids party going on, where they use less powerful guns. That looked like a great party for younger kids. One final note - if you use your GPS to get there, and come through Upton center, it will say "You have arrived" but in fact you are still 0.2 of a mile away from the entrance. read more
