Excellent day! My group of 5 was paired with another…read moresimilarly sized group for a 2-hour zipline adventure. There were 5 or 6 lines ranging in length from about 50 feet to 700 feet. The 700 foot line is awesome. In between there is a high-ropes "intermission" when you can choose between some "broken bridges" or a net obstacle and tightripe. After that my group did a Tree Climb which is a physically demanding challenge to get up very high trees, swing from ropes, etc. Unlike the zipline which is just fun adrenaline, the tree climb requires some real exertion and I would not recommend it for those who are afraid of heights or who are not physically active on a regular basis. The guides for the adventure were all great. They were encouraging, made us feel safe, and made an effort to learn our names. It was a great experience all around and I would recommend this as an activity for anyone.

The employees are always friendly and helpful, and it is a great value for a couple hours worth of entertainment for folks of all ages on a weekend evening or rainy day or snow day, or any day for that matter. We have enjoyed ourselves on crowded Friday evenings, and also on deserted weekday afternoons. Duckpin bowling, for those not familiar with it, uses smaller pins and balls, and you get three shots instead of two. It is harder to get high scores than tenpin bowling, but more fun in my opinion, and also nicer for kids. Lucky Strike has some lanes set up with bumpers that prevent gutter balls and allow carom shots if you like that. They also have rock-and-bowl some nights, with spinning lights and music. The lanes are the old-school manual type, so you have to push a button to clear the pins, and you get to calculate your own score. Some people seem afraid of this, but the rules are simple and the math is just addition of small numbers. There is an instruction sheet there, and I am sure that any employee on will gladly provide any needed assistance. In addition to duckpin bowling they have an air hockey table, some pinball and video game machines, and a pool room. They don't serve any food, but seem OK with people bringing their own. My son and I have been there quite a few times, and always enjoyed ourselves. Lucky Strike Lanes is one of the last of these places keeping the tradition alive, and I am happy that they are still hanging in there.

A trio of us…read morewere visiting for fall foliage in late October and booked a half-day trip through the gym's website. We were able to fill out everything online, and Kevin reached out the afternoon before our climbing day to confirm the crag (east facing on Ragged Mountain, so we could be warm!), where we would park/meet, and any pertinent notes. Once there, Kevin had all the gear we needed, packed and ready to go. Harnesses, helmets, ropes, webbing, things I didn't know we needed but he had prepared for safety/security/fun. Then, we had a short approach and voila! A wall with plenty of climbs. Kevin led us up a scramble first to set up our first two top ropes and gave us a chance to rappel back down after we took in the incredible view from the top of Ragged Mountain. We spent the morning climbing a range of 5.6-5.8s, got to say hello to a friendly pup, and learned a lot about crag stewardship in the area. Our trip had a blast, and despite the wasp/bees that we were disturbing, we couldn't have pictured a better day. I'll be making an excuse to visit more often to take advantage of Connecticut's great climbing scene, Kevin's knowledge, and relationship with the local climbing community. Unfortunately, I played about as poorly as I have in the year since I took the game back up, but I can hardly blame that on Hunter. A good winter activity for kids to burn all that energy. They have milk crates to lean on for beginners which I relied on heavily else I'm quite certain I'd break a hip. Gladly it wasn't too crowded. Not only is freestyle filled with hockey players but the hockey players are disruptive and obnoxious, they fill the whole ice and caused a couple other people and I to almost fall because they got way too close. They also give rude looks and act like they own the ice. They have no regard for figure skaters. If you are a figure skater I highly suggest going to another rink, because this one barely has any freestyle time and when there is freestyle hockey players take up the whole ice. Not only that but I was not able to stay in the parking lot because one of the staff forced me to leave. Now I have to park in the parking lots of surrounding areas and WALK to the rink if I want to skate. This is no way for a coach to be treated, I also have to feel nervous to walk into the rink because of said hostile staff member. Furthermore the said staff member stated that he was "watching me" which makes me feel very uncomfortable, this is directly a violation of my privacy and as a female I feel nervous to go back knowing that I will be watched. I did absolutely nothing wrong and said staff member chased me out of the parking lot and continued to watch me. Also if you want to come to this rink(I highly suggest you don't) do not park in their parking lot, it is filled with potholes and is a danger to cars. As a figure skater and coach I do not feel welcome. Their restrooms are also horrible, most of the stalls don't close properly and are blocked by the toilet paper dispensers, only one sink works and there is only ever cold water that comes out of the sink. There is also profanity written and scratched into the walls. And upon entering into the main section of the rink there is an unpleasant odor. I have also complained via email however I never get a response. I do not feel welcome when I go to this rink and honestly I have no reason to go anymore. It is far from my home and I could have way better experiences at other establishments. My whole experience has been horrible, and all of the staff seem unwelcoming, not only that but it is a mainly hockey establishment, and does not take too kindly to figure skaters. I also talked to my friend about their experience at this rink and they described their experience similar to mine. They were wrongfully told off, and they have many complaints about the hockey players on the ice. I have also heard other people complain too. Overall do not come here or bring your kids to skate here, it is a horrible place to go, and you can find other rinks with way more friendly staff who welcome figure skaters.
