What you will notice is, the street is dirt and not paved. There is limited dirt parking right by the field. The field is nicely maintained and mowed, in fact, when I was there recently, I saw someone mowing the lawn and maintaining the field. There were also picnic tables throughout the hillside and bleachers. There are signs everywhere to pick up after your dogs; must be a common occurrence of people not doing so and there has to be a reminder. The Farmington River Trail is right by the parking lot; although there was no signage. I saw a few people jogging and riding their bikes; the trail is flat and on gravel. The Massacoe State Forest can also be accessed via this trail near the parking lot. At the other end of the trail is West Mountain Road. I did notice from a distance what looked like a large black animal; I waited and observed and decided to turn around because it looked like a black bear! Overall, a quiet baseball field with decent trails throughout. I'm sure it gets busy during games!

I am 70+ year-old woman who never loved going to the gym, but I do want to be active. Three years ago, while skiing with my family, I was trailing far (very far) behind. I now keep up with my adult children on the slopes (well most all of the day!) but even more importantly, I feel strong and confident to get through my daily routines all year long, from doing chores in and around my house, traveling, walking my dog, playing tennis, to going for hikes. Drew, and all of the trainers at TFL, are enthusiastic, encouraging and knowledgeable. They meet you where you are and cheer you on as you build strength at your pace. Joining TFL was one of the best decisions I've made.

I parked at the library, there was a paved path to the Boy Scouts' parking lot; you can't miss the brown Belden Forest sign. The entrance to the trail was on a hill but it wasn't too steep and doable in my opinion (My toddler was able to walk it and I wore my other toddler). The trail was blazed and well marked. There weren't any greenery that could rub ticks off on your legs. The trail was peaceful even though I could hear some traffic. There were some houses along the perimeter. I'd rate this trail easy and it was about a 2-mile loop. The trail is open year round; there are no trash bins and restrooms. It is in walking distance to Downtown Simsbury. There are two ways to access the trail, off of Beldenwood Road and near Boy Scout Hall behind Route 10. Actually, there are two options there, a super steep hill that looks like you'd be hiking up a ski jump, or a very flat easy path just a few yards away.
