My son is finally old enough to play (he's 12) so we went with some friends for his birthday. 12 is my own decision as his father, I don't know that they have a particular rule about how young you can be. I think the fun you have will be directly dependent on who else is playing. We were led to believe (and I told my son's friends' parents) that people were divided up by age and experience. I suppose that's true once you get past a certain number of people. On our day, pretty much everybody played at once. And as the day progresses tempers do flare. This is a game based on the honor system and if you're hit you're supposed to be out. Well, two things are going to happen inevitably - you hit somebody who refuses to go out, and worse, you get hit and go out, and people keep shooting you. My kids watched a fight break out over that kind of behavior, and there was plenty of swearing about it to go around. You'll play upwards of 8 games with the same people if you're there all day, so expect enemies to form and vengeance to be sought. The staff was excellent, very helpful. I love that there's a built in lunch break that's included with the price of admission. Nice touch. It is way out in the middle of nowhere so don't expect wifi, and there's only a portapotty as far as bathroom facilities go. Go with as many people as you can, to improve your odds. You'll have much more fun shooting, and being shot at by, people you know rather than strangers. (Oh, and to answer the obvious question, yes it hurts. At least, if you're 12. Not in a "Medic! Man down!" kind of way, but in the kind of way that builds up with each hit. Before the day was out one of my group decided he was done because he didn't want to get hit anymore. But all of them had bruises to show.) read more

Ignore this review got it mixed up with another park but paintball is fun!!!! Definitely try it!!!

Had to call them quite a few times to get ahold of them, so I could ask some questions before booking. It appears that I could book the game anyway cause they only take deposits, and calculate everything on-site. Would have been great if the guys updated masks, ammunition belts and guns cause it's seen its days. Otherwise very pleased with the experience read more

Great time, friendly staff. It was a fair price, $50 for mask (not thermal lenses), Paintball marker (Tippman), 3 pods, pod carrier with belt and 500 Paintballs. They divided us up into two teams (15 people per). We played on three different fields. After we played on a field, we changed sides, played again, then we moved to another field. Each game was about 15 minutes with a short break between games. 500 paint balls lasted me two hours. I paid $20 for an additional 500 pant balls to last the day ( had about 300 Paintballs left). Around 1 pm they served us cheeseburgers and hotdogs (part of the initial $50 fee). Soda or water was an additional $1. Also, they had camouflaged light weight coveralls for rent $10. read more

It hurts when you get hit but it's so much fun especially if you bring your own gun and I think they should make way more better decisions or bbq they should make chicken wings or something burgers and hotdogs that's boring read more

First time paintball player. Great experience. First of all I envisioned an all out warfare attack with me leaving covered in paint and bruises. No. You rarely get hit. At most maybe just once a game (about 6 games). Well organized. Here's what needs to be fixed in order for it to get a 5 star. All of these item are things they must add/correct on their website just to notify players. 1) The "BBQ" is not my version of a BBQ. It's ONLY hotdogs and hamburgers and is given to you AFTER you play (around 1pm). There are no plates, no chips, no soda. Tiny Dixie cups for water only. That's FINE, but let people know! We're all thinking chicken, pasta, corn, etc...you know...a BBQ! Let people know there are no plates, napkins, etc. It's literally a bun and hot dog or hamburger. 2) For first timers they need to let them know about what a paintball is. It's more of a "goo", not a paint. Perhaps you need a change of clothes, but not likely. It just rubs off and doesn't stain. (I sort of pictured me soaked in paint) 3) For the ladies out there...just one port-a-potty. Again, that's fine, but give the ladies a heads up on that. We need to know to put our makeup on before starting paintball (Kidding guys, kidding). 4) Bug spray. Hello? Put that as something to bring on the website. Oh, and ladies...bring a hair tie. I had to give out two of mine to ladies who failed to bring a hair tie. This isn't a fashion show and no one wants to see your hair flying in the wind. Put that on the website too please. 5) Along the same lines: Bring snacks and your own drinks. It would've been nice if the website said you should bring a bag and you can leave it where you can access it after every game, BUT do not leave valuables in the bag. We were hungry and thirsty (for more than Dixie cup size of water). We saw families with coolers and food. Jealous! 6) Along the same lines...seriously? Dixie cups? Um...please go out and afford larger plastic cups for the water. It's summer and 90+ degrees! Thus the reason the website should encourage you to bring your own drinks, water bottles, snacks, etc. 7) What is going to happen. There should be a place that says you'll be playing with strangers. I'm okay with that, but the 4 of us had never been and didn't know what to expect. You're divided into teams with everyone in your party on the same team unless you want to be on opposing teams. You work together in a group to accomplish a mission. In our heads we thought we were going to play each other and get to shoot each other in a small group. No. We had about 15 people on our team (we were 4 of them). If we had wanted to be on opposite teams I'm not sure we could've ever found each other. So, our thought of attacking and hiding from each other was quickly ruined. Still had fun, but it would've been nice to know. Again...ALL of the items up there just need explanations on the website. It would've gotten 5 stars if just for a little more information and explanation. read more

Went here with a group of buddies before one of us becomes a new dad. Good course and fair prices. I bought the $10 camo suit. Don't do it -- not worth it. Paint was $60/case, which wasn't terrible. I liked the judges and other people who managed the place. One complaint: my group was matched up all day against a team with several dudes who had their own serious guns and gear. We had the rentals. People who have their own gear shouldn't be matched up against the non-regular players/rental users. read more

My buddy has his bachelor party here and it was a blast! Paintball all day with cheap refills on paint and air. The refs did a great job at keeping things fair and safe - making sure everyone followed the rules and still had a good time... My job focuses on safety so I have a keen eye; it was nice to see the employees practice what they preach. We got to play a couple times on each field and each one has a different style of play. The food was nothing special but this isn't the Ritz! Soda, chips, and water all day (we brought some beer for ourselves) and hot dogs / hamburgers for lunch. It hit the spot after playing all day! Definitely recommended for any birthday or bachelor party. Cheap fun and you get to shoot your friends. What's better than that? Can't beat it. read more

These guys were awesome. Went with a huge group and they were able to assist and answer any questions to anyone there. made sure we were being safe while making sure we were having fun. Would deff recommend, they have some pretty awesome courses too. read more

I think this place is great! Located in the woods of Tewksbury, MA. Great place for a family/friend outing for men, women and I would say children over 12... $50 gets you a mask, ammo containers, gun, and 500 paint balls. 500 paintball refills for $20! Had a great day with our all group of 6. Couldn't stop talking about the experience the remainder of the day! Will be back! read more

We just had my sons 14th birthday party here! What a fantastic time the kids had! Every single one said "best birthday party ever!" I'm so glad we did it. I was hesitant at first because I was nervous about the whole paintball/ gun thing, but went for it anyway. The kids had a blast. It was so fun to watch the kids run around like they were in a competition and seeing boys be boys! I dealt with Sean throughout the whole process and he was great! He answered all my questions and got back to me within a day or so on my emails. The All you can eat BBQ was good and the kids pigged out. Sean and the guys that were helping him out really kept it moving and fun and we can't wait to go back over the summer! I would definitely recommend this to other people. Thank you very much. read more

Two words: RAMBO PACKAGE!!! Went here with a group of 20 or so friends and had a blast. It is certainly bare bones, but the guys working there are really nice and helpful - no macho man syndrome going on here! The paintball day runs from 8:30-2:30 ish and starts with registration and a little training. For $50 (the Rambo package) , you get camo, a face mask, 500 bullets, and a gun. The camo and equipment did not fit me (too big) and barely fit a few of my larger guy friends (too small). I have a nice bruise on my forehead from where the mask dug into me all day. But, I got over the fact that my camo jacket was hanging down to my knees, rolled up my sleeves, and after a few rounds of target practice, out to the woods you go! Paintball is all about who you are with. We had a great time because we all knew each other and could tease and joke. I ran out of bullets after a few games and had to buy more at $20 for a bag of 500. It all adds up to a pretty expensive day, a little too expensive if you ask me. About 6 games into the day, we broke for their "world famous BBQ", which consisted of no plates or utensils, and hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken wings. No sides, just what I listed above. If I would have known, I would have brought chips along with me or something. Also you can BYOB, but you can only drink it during lunch. The food was pretty gross, and certainly not "world famous", but I ate it because I was ravenous. Also, water and Pepsi is served in tiny Dixie cups. Yeah, I drank about 27 of those. Why not give us regular sized cups? Also, after literally crawling around on the floor of the forest all morning, I would have LOVED some soap and water to wash my hands before i dug into all the food with nary a utensil. After lunch we played a few more games, and some speedball until everyone's ammo ran out. I thought the playing fields were pretty cool. Lots of area to cover, plenty of areas to take cover, forts with lookout towers, and trees to hide behind. All in all, an exhausting, exhilarating day! read more

Hands-down the best price for outdoor paintball in Massachusetts. Paint refills are decently reasonable ($20 for 500 balls), fair team splitting, good variety of fields (4 +speedball), and if you play all day you get a barbecue lunch as part of the package. Family-run businesses done right. Any first-time paintball player should come to Action first. read more

Been here a couple times now. The place is next to a pig farm and used to be a landfill, so it smells awful. It takes them a long time to get things going. Like in other reviews I ran out of paintballs, but the friends I came with brought/bought some extra paint balls(you can buy them at Walmart, hunting stores, dicks sporting goods, and online cheaper than here: $20/500 balls. Now the food.... It was not a good "bbq" or even a "meal" in my opinion. They burn frozen small burgers and Kaydem hotdogs. Again they burn all of them. Then using there messy hands that are not in gloves or clean (like when they put the meat on the grill) put them on a piece of wood that everyone has to touch. Im sounding like a germaphobe, but it really just disgusted me. May I mention that I got sick after. Finally, the refs, they were overall good, but in one of the games there were still 2 people left on my team and the flag was not causing the game to end, nor the time, it was because "i was too close to the other team." read more

Decided to have part of my bachelor party at Action Paintball and I was not disappointed. I am by no means an experienced paintballer (and neither was anyone in my party) but that didn't matter thanks to the great service and ownership. They really made everything very easy for our small (10 people) party. Not only was the whole day rather inexpensive, but a BBQ lunch is provided as part of the package. Don't for get to BYOB! I highly recommend Action paintball for any bachelor party or just some weekend fun. read more

Action Games Paintball is an unbelievable outdoor paintball experience and as far as I am concerned, as good as it gets in MA. They have a huge plot of land with a variety of different courses including forts for capture the flag. The staff is very professional and they always make sure everyone is included. There is no pressure at all, it is a very relaxing experience: you can play every round if you like, or you can sit out as many rounds as you want. Action games is very well managed and you can tell that safety is a top priority. For $50 you get to play all day with an included BBQ of burgers and hotdogs. My friends and I went one afternoon for a birthday party and I have been back a couple of times since. I have never had a bad experience, everybody is friendly and the staff are very accommodating. read more

It is interesting to see the variety of comments - good and bad - because we had a similar experience to the reviewers as a whole. This place is bare bones, AG is a bit hit and miss about getting back to you which can be frustrating when you are trying to confirm arrangements. And when they stop getting a lot of calls, they do shut down for the season. According to the gentleman that ran our session, they generally close some time in October through February. All that said, I was among a group of 20 kids and and their parents who went to AG for an outing recently. None of us are paint ball experts (my first time), but we had a ton of fun. This is a very large outside facility with all sorts of different courses and they don't take themselves too seriously - which is part of the attraction and some of the frustration I noted in the first paragraph. We all had groupons which they honored without batting an eye and I was pleasantly surprised by the emphasis they placed on safety. In general we had a very good time and I would go again for a birthday party or corporate outing - it really is something people of a wide variety of ages can do. A couple of things to point out: 1. They don't upsell you, but you will run out of ammo so whatever price you are paying add another $20. By the 4th game, you will be running out. 2. The organizers took a long time to set up and get us going. We were told to arrive by nine, but we didn't start playing unitl 9:45 or so. 3. Paintball can hurt if you get shot up close. Nothing horrible will happen, but someone in your group will get a big welt or bruise. As the website suggests, you should definitely wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt (or a few layers) and closed toe shoes. Still, 98% of the time, the paint just splatters over you with no pain. You should just be aware. 4. The BBQ is no frills, but I was surprised by how much we enjoy it. Simple hotdogs and hamburgers, and they even had veggie burgers for some of the kids. Bring your own drinks if you can. They do supply water but that is it - and they ran out of cups. Still, overall, the experience exceeded my expectations and was a lot of fun. read more

I would *not* recommend bringing kids to this place unless you rent the entire site for the day. The folks running it set down rules for safety but do not really enforce them. This means you are at the whims of whomever else is there with respect to safety. I brought four 12 year old boys to play after being assured by the owner/operator that it would be appropriate. It was not - one of the boys in my party was shot several times at close range by another participant with painful welts resulting. The person who did this broke the so called '15 foot firing rule' but was not reprimanded and was allowed into the next round of play. Some of it was fun, but this pretty much wiped all of it out - not a great way to spend the day. read more

Had an amazing day with my 14 year old at Action Games Paintball. We've never done paintball before and I can't imagine that it could have been better! Great staff, well run, lots of fun, reasonably priced and they even provided hot dogs and burgers for lunch! Cannot recommend this company more highly! read more

I bought a groupon from Action Games and was excited to bring my teenage boys however i called several times with no answer, left messages with no return call and even drove out to Tewksbury only to find deserted land and no legitimate business. Seems shady and i would highly advise against this place. I have since found several other legitimate places that were happy to take my business. read more
