The massage that I received worked on a lot of areas that were tight and I walked out of there so happy. I seriously almost cried. It feels so much better. I will be a returning customer for sure. I was not asked about injuries, medical history, areas to avoid, or consent preferences. Within the first few seconds of the session, the therapist began applying very aggressive, deep pressure with no warm-up strokes. Only after already working on me intensely did she ask what kind of pressure I wanted. I said "medium." While actively massaging me, she began attempting to upsell me to a higher-priced "therapeutic" massage and repeatedly stated that "relaxation will not help you." I had already booked a relaxation massage. I clearly told her that I was carrying significant grief, including the death of my father, and that I was specifically seeking a gentle, soothing experience for my mental health. I explained that I did not want deep tissue work. Despite this, she continued with very firm, painful pressure and stated that she was "here to help" and that relaxation would not be sufficient. Throughout the session, I repeatedly communicated that the pressure was too firm. I used phrases such as "that's tender," "that's sore," and "that's too firm." When I identified areas as painful, she would return to those same spots with deep pressure rather than easing up. She would ask, "Is that better?" and I would say yes simply to get her to move on from areas that were extremely painful. I was not experiencing relief -- I was trying to endure the session. I understand that massage can sometimes be uncomfortable, and I am not new to massage. I was very specifically not seeking deep tissue work during this appointment. It became clear to me that what I wanted, what I booked, and what I paid for did not matter. She chose to focus on tender areas and overwork them despite my requests. At one point she performed a very deep stretch on my arm that went too far, causing my body to involuntarily spasm. I had to ask her to stop because it was extremely painful. In response, she said things like, "You're so young, you can't raise your arms?" and implied that it was difficult because my body was "heavy." The comments strongly suggested that my body size was the reason for the difficulty, which felt body-shaming and inappropriate. During the session I became visibly and audibly distressed. I was fully crying and clearly in pain. Despite this, the massage continued with aggressive pressure. Later, while I was trying to compose myself, she asked, "Are you scared of me?" Regardless of intent, this comment felt inappropriate in the context of the distress I had already expressed. There were also issues with positioning and draping. The face rest was removed at one point to work on my neck and was not immediately replaced when she moved on, leaving my head unsupported for a period of time. Portions of my body were not consistently re-draped after she moved to different areas. I wanted to end the session early, but I felt overwhelmed and froze rather than feeling able to get up and leave. I left physically sore, emotionally shaken, and deeply disrespected. While some soreness can occur after massage, this experience was not therapeutic or restorative. I would not recommend this facility to anyone seeking consent-based or, relaxation-focused massage.

9/21/24 Our first…read moredisappointment  in our massage  hunt. I had first seen Lilly Massage when I was looking for massage places near Fred Meyer.   I failed to remember which Fred Meyer we visited last year. Yet I know it was a very large one near Thai Bistro.  For locals around here, you already know which one I am talking about.  Nevertheless, I picked the wrong store and ended up near Lake City Northeast.  This is where Lilly's comes into play.    Since I picked the wrong location. Since we drove to the wrong store. Since I chose Lilly's Massage close to this Fred Meyer, ... let the game begin...Oh and the former restaurant know as Green Papaya restaurant Vietnamese Cuisine. We noticed after arriving at Lilly's Massage, the parking lot is shared with a car repair shop.  It could also be storage for a car dealership too. The building's neon signs were lit up except for the open sign.  I missed this key peice of information.    Upon ring the door bell,  my wife first saw a lady open the door wearing something clicheic you have seen in the movie...like a woman wearing her boyfriend shirt.  This is what we saw along with being told she is with a client right now. Evidently,  there are only two women working there, or she's  the only one. I am not sure she wanted to massage my wife, but rather a male instead.  This is just one thought and not fact.  Nevertheless, the therapist  was polite about letting us down gently so that there is water under the bridge. We might come back here, but I can't  say when.  Still, this has been a strike one moment on our massage hunt. Since I did not see a price online, I figured I would find out what the basic costs might be. 30mins=$50 60mins=$60 Four Hands Massage=$120  *Please include tips for whatever massage you aquire *

*Part 2 of 2* 1/26/25…read moreTHE MASSAGE: Cici (The Blonde in the light pink dress who squeezed my glutes) my therapist liked the feel of my skin and complimented me on this. She has obviously been in the dark dark massage palor longer that I, so she saw more details of my body than I could see her. Only her dress stood out in this dark dark room with the dark dark setting mood. Cici began her preliminary massage targeting my neck and shoulders. The amount of pressure she used was fantastic. She checked with me to see if I needed more, less or the same pressure. I appreciated this. I noticed when Cici talked, her pronunciations of every word she spoke was crystal clear. This woman is more than she appears to be. She sound like one of my college professor from Marshall University. Cici moved down to my lower back and glutes without using oil or lotion. Remember, this is still the preliminaries of the massage. Kneading my back and butt felt great with steady pressure. There were times Cici climbed on the table to apply more pressure and this was welcomed. Cici got down to my calves and feet, but did not go 100% in on my feet. This was targeted for later on.. When the preliminaries ended, oil was rubbed on to her hands to warm the oil up before applying it to my skin. Cici started back again on my neck and worked on my shoulders and neck. From time to time Cici asked some questions to pass the time. Once again Cici's knowledge of the English language was on expert level. I think she knows more things than she let's on in front of her colleague Anna. The back massage with oil was great, but not enough ws used on the glutes. The feeling of friction started happening and I asked for more oil. Cici obliged. Cici switch up her strokes, pressure and styles for the massage she was doing. This came in handy while massaging my shoulder, chest and stomach. The massage was getting good when my hour ended. This was to be 90 minutes which was cut short. I did see one guy waiting for his massage who had fallen asleep waiting for Cici to finish with me. My wife's massage ended up being longer, because Anna had to answer the door when guest came calling. My wife also said she saw Anna paying more attention to watching the clock then massaging her. There is a name for this. Clock Watcher or CW. Nevertheless, I guess Anna preferred massaging men than women. Possibly not massaging couples together or individually. This is just a guess. The cost dropped down to $140 with a $20 tip for each lady. Both lady were very polite dispite the non commitment of the 90 minutes we wanted to get. We might just come back here again. I look forward to reading someone else Review on here. Overall, I give this place 4 stars, but 5 stars for the very convenient parking area for this business.

She listens to what you are looking for (if your shoulders have been stiff, or if you want a relaxing massage that day), she's really strong, and very skilled at making knotty muscles behave! I love that I can ask her for the sciencey-answer to what she's doing or what muscles are locked up; it empowers me to learn more about my body and how to care for it afterwards! The spa itself offers convenient online booking, it's very clean and peaceful (and looks down onto the ocean!), and their customer service is top notch. I use their Wellness Plan option, which offers a year of monthly massage appointments for a slight discount. Love it!! I hope this place stays here forever. And the fact that it's right beside the ocean means that if you want to continue relaxing after your massage, you can just walk downstairs and sit on the beach.

I left pretty disappointed. 5 Stars facial -- The facial was awesome. The esthetician was so sweet and bubbly. She explained what was going to happen and her positive energy alone was 5+++ Stars. I would go back solely for future facials with her :) The massage: it was by a girl named Jennifer. After reading the reviews I'm saddens that I got a newbie vs. Marisa. It was the worst massage I have ever gotten. When the masseuse came in to meet me after I had spoken to the esthetician she was not warm - and bland. I told her I wanted deep tissue & to not be gentle. It started off ok, but as she got further along I thought "did I pay for a massage or merely to be inadequately rubbed with lotion". You know the massage isn't great when you're left laying there wondering when it's going to be over and it feeling like it's taking forever. I have had better relief when getting out of a long shower. Total disappointment ... :(

Not only is she reliable, professional and incredibly skilled, but she has this wonderful, mothering vibe that instantly makes you feel safe and cared for. Palesteen is also one of the most generous and intuitive people I know. She always knows how to help with the tension I carry, especially in my neck, which has been a chronic issue for me. Thanks to Palesteen, I've experienced improvements in my neck pain and general anxiety. I also love that Palestine's business is owned and run by her. It feels great to support a small business that's built on such care and wisdom. Her studio space feels clean, peaceful and serene and has a convienent location. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who genuinely cares and truly listens.

I called as soon as I realized to apologize & rebook the following month - stating per the policy, I understood the the amount of the 90 minute massage had to be invoiced; but that it could also be used towards the next massage. A gentleman called me back & said "We understand things happen, but we will have to invoice the gift card & you will have to prepay for the massage you booked, next month." I responded by saying "You all don't seem very understanding, at all. This massage was given to me as a gift & since I can't afford to prepay - I'll just cancel my session." This cost a lot of money. I called to explain the situation and the gentleman showed no signs of empathy. Not exactly the birthday gift or professional service experience I'd hoped for. I get being charged a percentage of the appointment, but charging in full & not applying that payment to the rebooking is so far from being "understanding". Updating to 3 vs 1 after the owner reached out, but seriously - automate reminders. Nobody would be happy about being charged $200 for a service they didn't receive, especiallywhen looking forward to it. I had a legitimate reason for missing my appointment & a little grace would've been nice. Also, per the website - you state the full amount would be credited to the next scheduled appointment for first time clients, but on the phone I was told I'd need to prepay... lowering back to a 2, now that I have the evidence to support my frustration.
