Found Haley Mechanical on Yelp here, and found out that they did free estimates... A few competitors I called, wanted anywhere from $50-$135 in charges for an estimate prior to any work being performed. Some of them would only apply a portion of the estimate to the job.... which blows my mind. However, I explained my issue to the gal over the phone, she set me up for an appointment. The tech came out, assessed, priced out, and gave me a quote. We elected to go ahead and do the project right then and there, fortunately he had all of the tools and parts he needed to perform the work. It took him about 2 hours to complete altogether. My only complaint -- was that he burned my siding with the torch while performing the work... With that mentioned; I'm not certain that anyone could have done it without burning the siding. But, he didn't mention that any damage was done -- that's the only reason for the four star rating instead of the five. If he had said, hey -- look here at this damage, crap happens... it would have been different.... IN ANY CASE......... Haley was great to deal with from start to end. read more

Our experience with Haley was good from start to finish. Nate came out to discuss upgrading to a heat pump and new furnace. He was prompt, explained things well, got the estimate to us quickly, responded to queries promptly, and stopped by on installation day to check on things. We got two estimates and theirs was the lower of the two. The installers, Marc and his assistant Rob, arrived promptly and worked hard for 2 days. Their work looked great when finished, they explained things well, and they were very careful and respectful of my home. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't smoke or play loud music all day. I assume that the company has similar expectations of all employees and I wouldn't hesitate to have people from their plumbing or electrical divisions work in my home in the future. read more

company came out with an agreement of a $95 fee for a inspection and charged me $125 said they would refund the extra and never did. During inspection found a small gas leak coming from my hot water heater. wanted $500 to repair and deemed my whole furnace not safe to run. Brought out another company for a second opinion. they did not find a small gas leak coming from my hot water heater and although my furnace is old did not find any reason to deem it unsafe. This company is just looking to take advantage of people. come off very friendly and professional but are just trying to take advantage of people. read more

Originally I reviewed this company after their first visit out because I found the visit helpful and there was no charge. I specifically asked him to notate the visit in case other problems arose. One day later the leak in my basement doubled and then tripled in locations. When I called to make another appointment the receptionist said that their technician noted that he had come to my house, but never went in and that another plumber was here. I never called another plumber so that's just a straight lie. I complained to the woman about the dishonest report and she seemed genuinely shocked. They came out twice more and replaced the wax ring and pipe flange. Two weeks later and there are buckets of water down in my basement. I understand that some work leads to more work, but it was a small drip when they first came here and then documented that they didn't. I have a different company coming out this week to hopefully actually solve the problem. read more

Our "newer" home is coming up on twenty years since it was built. That is around the time that many of the major HVAC and plumbing appliances start to show their age and need a lot of attention and even replacement. In particular, our in-floor geothermal heating system had been acting up (i.e., not working properly) for the past several years. After working with several different HVAC companies over the past several years without much success, I finally found Haley Mechanical who were finally able to diagnose the issue and implement the various solutions that our system required to get it back to peak performance. This is not a simple system and it required a higher than typical level of expertise to diagnose and trouble shoot. Fortunately, Haley's Service Manager (Jon Haley) had the knowledge and patience to work through the issues. It was a pleasure to work with all the various techs who worked on our account. They are extremely professional, show up on time (you can almost set your watch by their punctuality,) keep you informed along the way, and most importantly: they know what they are doing. HVAC work is not inexpensive and Haley charges accordingly, but they are absolutely worth every penny. We will continue to use this company for all of our future HVAC related needs. read more

Had a supply water tank failure on my system this morning. Water pouring out of bottom of tank. Staff at Haley helped me shut the system down to stop the water flow, then had technician on-site in about an hour. Then, about 4 hours later, I'm up and running again. After purchasing a new home in the Dexter area, we called Haley Mechanical to inspect and service our furnace and a/c compressor. Ian arrived on time, calling us shortly before to let us know he was on the way. Ian is great! Professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. He took extra time to explain the systems to us and debugged a problem with air flow to some of the vents in the house. I was especially impressed when he went the extra mile after getting bad results when testing our 30 year old compressor. His equipment had indicated a problem that couldn't be fixed, meaning eventually we would need a new compressor. He was about to leave, but something about the test results didn't feel right to him, so he stuck around for a while, did some research onsite and determined that the bad reading might be a consequence of something not being correctly adjusted in this particular compressor model. He returned to the compressor, determined that this was in fact the case, fixed it, and let us know the good news. Ian could have just left. He could have signed us up to get a new compressor. Instead he took extra time to solve a problem for us and save us time and money. This was exceptional service and we are very pleased. Thank you Ian! read more

I subscribe to the VIP program so that they remind me when I need to service my furnace, water heater, and AC unit. Rob just came over to do routine service and troubleshot many other things around the house while he was here. He saw that I was wearing a mask and offered to wear one without my asking. He was even great with my anxious dog! They are always knowledgeable and do great work! I only wish that they had an online portal so I could see my work history and billing status online. My HVAC is old and I want to do a diagnostic and budget for a new one in case it fails. So I call Haley Mechanical but my experience is terrible. The technician is knowledgeable but I'm deeply unsatisfied with the customer service. (1) Their email says I can respond to the email, but nobody really responds my questions until I call them. It seems that they are not aware of the emails *ever*. They always need me to call them and never remembers my question. (2) They always claim they can submit the DTE rebate form, but never submits it even *after I call them twice*. The customer service said she was not responsible for it and transferred me to a voicemail. (3) I told them I also want a quote for a new HVAC system so that I can budget for it. But they are not able to do it in the same visit of diagnostic. I do not want them to come again since I'm scheduling service during COVID. I feel they only want to charge me $150 for the visit but never care about the customers any more, since I'm not interested in installing a new HVAC *now*. But there could be different reasons. read more
