Next, the eponymous place is headed by Marianne Lumb, a MasterChef finalist in 2009, and her merry band of restaurant ninjas: a sous, a dishwasher, and a front-of-house consisting of two whole people, who are always a delight. That's it. Other things you should know: - The space was obviously someone's front parlor until recently, which makes it amazingly cozy. - Prices are beyond reasonable (3 courses at £48, with cheese it's £60) and menus change weekly and seasonally. - The wine list is substantial. - There is a waiting list for neighborhood locals. They use it to fill out late cancellations. I've gotten the nod twice in about four months. - The truffle brie is divine. Ask for some honey and oatcakes to accompany it. All things considered, it's one of the best new restaurants in London. If I had written this after the first time I went in December, I would've said it was the best new opening of the year. However, having been twice since then, the dishes have waned a bit, but this could be attributed to the lack of variety this time of year. Hopefully it picks up again in the coming weeks. Last, I waited a few months to post this review, because I haven't wanted any additional competition. But since we're upping sticks and heading down south before long, I'll just say: have at it, kids! It's a great local spot, and Marianne and her team deserve all the support they can get.

It's…read morequirky and cosy; the food is good, the service is friendly; and the bill will make your jaw drop - but in a good way. I was taken there recently by a friend who lives nearby. The exterior doesn't prepare you for what you find inside - not that much could. What you find is an intimate space, decorated in dark reds with baroque panels, rather like the sort of small 18th century opera house you might find in Prague or Salzburg. There are even little balcony "boxes" with tables accessed by vertiginous stairs (NB not good for long legged or tall people). The food is a mixture of French and modern European. There are vegetarian starters and mains, but the menu is heavy on throroughly meaty dishes, such as char-grill Lamb Steak, with crushed new potatoes, julienne vegetables and green peppercorn sauce, or chicken breast stuffed with minted minced lamb, herbal mash and Port wine sauce. I had the grilled Portobello mushroom, prepared with garlic and served with spinach and a roast pepper sauce; followed by roast aubergine strudel, stuffed with grilled asparagus and ricotta cheese, served with French beans and a tomato and basil sauce. Service was very pleasant throughout and I like the fact that they don't charge for a basket of bread. The prices vary depending on whether you book before or after 7pm; you'll save a pound on the starter and a couple of pounds on the main course if you go before. We had a very decent French vin de pays as the house wine. Pleasanter still was the bill - £55 (including service) for three people each having two courses, after 7pm. I'll definitely go back - or maybe try one of their other branches...

Absolutely awful experience. Avoid. Check your bill carefully. Food was average, service was (not Cypriot or Greek), rushed (as below review-they were in a hurry for you to leave and bring the bill to get you out), however what is unacceptable is the attitude of the owner of this place. He is so rude and incredibly disrespectful of his customers. I asked what was on my (illegible) bill and there was a high service charge (18%! higher than the stated 12%) and a cover charge. Cover charge was dissapointing as I hadnt been told but fine as we had eaten the olives. I do not agree with service charges. At best they dont encourage good service as you dont have the choice to vary the tip to reward good service, at worst it usually goes to the owner, not to the actual waiters/resses. As usual I requested for the service charge to be removed (remember it was not legible or labelled as such and was significantly higher than stated) saying I would prefer to leave a cash tip. I have done in all restaurants inc. the Ritz and Dorchester without any bother. The owner refused, shouted at us in front of the entire restaurant and kept proding my arm. He said it was illegal and refused to bring a new bill. He threatened to call the police but did not. I see below another reviewer had this same problem! After waiting for 30mins and getting more of his bullying, slamming his fists, shouting and prodding, I threatened to leave wihout paying he agreed to remove the service charge. After that I didnt want to leave a tip. My advice-avoid this restaurant. Customer service is everything and the owner is awful. As the below reviewers say he could do with the lesson. IF you do go to this restaurant please do ask (politely) for the service charge to be removed and leave a cash tip. The owner has to realise that service charges are not mandatory and the more people who ask the more likely he is to realise this. There is MUCH better food at cypriot restaurants in Barnet (Blueberries), Camden (Lemonia) and round the corner in W2 on Hereford Rd (Aphrodite Tavern). Dont waste your evening and defintely dont bring guests here read more

We passed this restaurant a couple of times and it was very busy so we tried to go in where we were told there was no room so we asked if we needed reservations for 6:00 the following night. We were told No, but you will need to be gone by 8:00 This brusk response should have been the red flag but we went back the next night and were treated to an absolutely horrible dining experience. It was a train wreck from the time we entered and were shoved into a corner, reminded that we had to be out by 8:00 and rushed to decide on dinner and wine selections. The food was below par and actually presented itself as possibly leftover from before as opposed to freshly prepared. It was the worst example of greek cusine we had ever been served and such a letdown from what we expected as we were anticipating much more. With all of the dining opportunities in London it was so sad to have wasted a meal at this place, with these people and at that cost which was also inflated with the unsanctioned discretionary service charge Do NOT waste one of your precious meals on this poorly run, non service oriented establishment. read more
