However, after this particular (third?) time, I realize that there is a bit of a problem with my chicken and lamb combo over rice here. Yum! Delicious food, giant portions, low price, warm and friendly service. Passed this food truck many times and yesterday turned out the perfect day to give it a try. We both got lamb/chicken combo over rice. I expressed that I wanted to try the falafel and our one-man staff kindly threw two on top, no charge. A little bit of salad was included. We got to sample the sauces before deciding what to put on top. My recommendation is plenty of the wonderful white sauce with just a trickle of the hot sauce. (At first it doesn't taste very hot but it sneaks up on you wow!) It was nice to see the plates assembled right before our eyes. Food was served piping hot in a heavy foil dish with plastic lid. Each meal was enough for two meals. Meat was nice and soft, small pieces. The rice was awesome. Total for the two: $13. This one is now in the take home rotation. Good street meat in Long Island? I was shocked to find a halal cart in Long Island a few blocks from Roosevelt field mall. My expectations were low because it was in the middle of no where on a street that didn't have a lot of foot traffic...or car traffic. I assume a lot of their sales are to Hofstra students since it's nearby. I had the combo chicken and lamb on rice and it was actually really good! The portion was huge. They were very generous with the meat too. I usually finish a whole platter in one setting, but I was only able to eat 3/4 of it. The meat and side salad was fresh and didn't taste like it had been sitting around for half a day. My only complaint would be their sauces. The sauce white sauce and hot sauce needs help. The white sauce was bland and didn't add much taste and the hot sauce just wasn't spicy or tangy enough. Other than that, I wish they had a cart closer to me in Queens because they beat many queens carts in my book. read more

Hate to do this to this place but my experience here was unacceptable. I work in the area and frequented this place for lunch. Can't beat the price of $7-$8 for a filling meal. However, the last time I went to this place there was a chunk of glass in my food! It was literally in the first bite that I took. I couldn't believe it and had to make sure it wasn't just some broken plastic (from the plastic utensils they use). Nope, I'm fairly certain it was glass. See the attached picture for yourself. What was even more frustrating is when I took it back, the server was so nonchalant about it all and tried to fix me another platter. Obviously I'm done eating from this place because what's to say there isn't more glass in the food? He did not seem concerned, he just gave me a refund and didn't even refund me for the water I purchased to rinse the pieces put of my mouth. I re-visited this location on 5/18/2018 and there was no rice! I was informed that rice would arrive in 10 minutes, so I hung around.. thinking "it's worth the wait!" No biggie. I came back well over 10 minutes and was informed by the cart staff that his brother was stuck at a light and would be there soon. I get lost for at least 15 minutes after walking around Hofstra and still no rice! I was offered items that do not use rice... but I declined, I came here for the combo over rice. I take the walk back to my car, jam to a few songs and decide to drive over to the cart this time... at least another 15 minutes have passed and surely by now this guys brother is here. Nope! No rice again.. It happens I suppose, when you've got good food and you're in a remote cart.. I understand that. I am mostly disappointed about being strung along for at least half an hour waiting for some rice that will never come and being offered something I didn't come for. I may come back again, who knows.. maybe they will have rice and maybe I will have forgiven them. I ultimately ended up going to the local dunkin, which was alright. I ordered from here because my dad and I wanted gyros. This was the only place that delivered. This was not the best gyro. Three of us ordered the lamb gyros w falafel. The falafel was a little dry but the flavor was decent. The tzatziki was made from mayonnaise. Mayonnaise. That was a first for me. I like mayo but I expect a light, tangy sauce on my gyro. This white sauce did not do it for me but the thing that was most disappointing to me was the lamb. It tasted as if there was a filler in it, maybe some sort of bread. We were, to say the least, disappointed with our order. My mom ended up throwing half of hers out. My dad and I ate the whole thing because we're fat asses. This place is hit or miss. I've had some questionable experiences but at the same time I've had some good experiences. As far as questionable I've been fat shamed here by one of the older gentlemen. Me and my husband ordered three platters. One for me, one for him and one for his mom and they looked at me and asked me if two of the platters were for me with a smirk on their face. Not sure why this place is rated so high, the mix plate was not great. The meat lacked flavor and you can taste the salt. There are many places in the city and in queens that are much better. Your better off going to any other halal place in the area. I'm not picky with chicken and rice you kinda can't screw it up too much in my book. But when I ordered delivery and asked for equal parts hot sauce and white sauce on the side I got both on top (which doesn't bother me much alot of places can screw that up once in a while) but 3/4 was white and only 1/4 was hot sauce. It had an abundance of cucumbers, some tomatoes, hardly any lettuce, and no onions. The bland spongy chunks of gyro had that 3rd party meat provider taste.
