Chicken Shawarma Over Rice (kinda had a few bites!)

The food is Good Gawd Good! Y'all sleeping on this place. It's a whole vibe! Seating is so chill and peaceful. The staff is friendly and gets the job done quickly. Glad to have stopped by there!

    Loaded fries!

This place has all the good eats. I have to advise anyone going to come here to try the loaded fries. The portion size is huge. Some say quality over quantity. The loaded fries give you both. The service is amazing. The staff make sure you are well taken care of. The ask, how is everything going, how was your meal. Make sure you get your bang for your buck. It's a very casual small place. The only thing is. You might have a bit of trouble parking. But once you do. It is well worth the small Hassel of parking. You will highly enjoy. I will be back to take some beef loaded fries next.

    Lamb over rice

I've been going here foreverrrrr and am obsessed. Lamb over rice is the best comfort food. The portion is huge and the veggies are fresh. I think the pita is just ok. Love the hole in the wall vibe and fast service. Parking is a bit tight. They have a small patio, which I recommend for people watching.

I had a chicken shawarma over rice -- I thought the rice was surprisingly good (light, fluffy, and seasoned), particularly when paired with the white sauce that was the star of the show. However, the single serving of white sauce (which I requested on the side) felt quite meager, and I'd definitely ask for extra next time. It would also have helped given that I found the chicken shawarma meat to be pretty dry. That said, this is probably one of the best halal cart style options in the area, and this was indeed a generous portion of food. I just wish they'd allow half/half on the meats (beyond the combo of gyros and chicken, which is different from the chicken shawarma).

    Beef Shawarma over Rice

Came here sooo many times during college and finally got to revisit and take some people here for their first time! I love love love the gyro over rice-I have always gotten this and probably won't ever get anything else because this is so good. The portion itself is huge, you most likely will not be able to eat it all in one sitting. Sauces are great. I didn't order this, but still want to mention it...my friend got the beef, and it was not good. Beef was very tough and hard to chew. Very small parking lot in front.

    Falafel over rice

Let's cut to the chase here: It's fine. Prices are reasonable for a nice big container of food, but it's really just a giant plate of rice. You get a handful of salad a good scoop of hummus, seven falafel, and about a quart of dry yellow rice. The falafel are equally fine. Not really crispy on the outside, not really moist on the inside, adequately flavorful if not particularly memorable. Ask for it without white sauce to keep it vegan, and opt for BBQ sauce instead of just more hummus. You'll need something more to get through that vat of rice, so double up, too. Very acceptable. Highly adequate. Exceedingly average. You could do better, by you could also do worse.

Absolutely amazing food! The pictures don't do it justice but everything about the swarm chicken that I got, was amazing! White sauce (aka Taziki) was great too! If you like spicy. Definitely get the hot sauce to dip fries.

Oh my goodness! Delicious is an understatement! We were hangry for sure but this place was not only filling but everything we could ever ask for. Sizable portion and well worth. Together the meal was around $28 but could feed you for 2 meals

    Combination over Rice

Halal Bros is soooo good and so iconic among UT students, although I think it's fallen in popularity. I remember it used to be really crowded when I went in 2019, but now there are only a few people inside every time I go. I always get gyro over rice or a combination of gyro and chicken over rice. The gyro tastes better than the chicken. The white sauce and red sauce add a lot to the flavour. I like the loaded fries as well. I've seen the prices go up so much, which is quite sad. $14 gives you a lot of food, but it is still really highly priced. I've heard people say this is one of the worst parking lots in West Campus because it's really hard to get in and out of, so I would never try to park there.

Nothing too remarkable overall. Somewhat dry meat and the sauce is a bit muted. Gets the job done but not worth going out of your way.

I love the Loro in DFW, but the original location in Austin is where it all began. This is a must visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The cuisine is creative and elegant, but Loro's genius is its ultra casual setting. Instead of white tablecloth and fancy silverware, there are wooden picnic tables that maximize seating while mimicking the comforts of your backyard. "Grab a beer from the cooler and sit at a picnic table" vibe. 1 Star. Service - There's no beer cooler, but there is an awesome staff that begins with taking your order at the bar. They'll give you a buzzer, and when your food is ready the Loro team will bring the dishes straight to your table. The service is so great and efficient and it's like "fine dining" fast casual. 1 Star. Food - The menu is very unique, mixing Texas smokehouse techniques with Asian underpinnings. The Pork Belly Char Siu is a must order. We ordered this (non-bowl version) because we wanted to focus on the hoisin sauce, super tender "melt in your mouth" pork belly with pickled cucumbers to help cut the richness. We also ordered their Texas Two Step lunch of a juicy onion burger and potatoes that reminded us that Loro can do fancy and comfort at the same time. Both dishes were satisfying and delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I live in Dallas and Loro has opened in North Texas, but the original location in Austin is a great rzeminder of how great restaurants are meant to be shared with others. 1 Star.

This time, I barely managed to squeeze one into my trip, and it was kind of a last minute stop from a food truck that wasn't even on Yelp. It was fine, but I was left yearning for more after barely getting a taste of it. Enter: my trip to Austin. Upon doing my food research, I was struck by Halal Time's great rating and couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit. I was staying in a hotel less than a mile away, which made it even easier to stop by. The result? I wouldn't say it fully hit the spot on what I'd remembered from old NYC trips, but I did enjoy it. I get a 30 min lunch and it takes me 8 min to get there and another 8 min to get so I should have had plenty of time. I go up to the window, tell him I'm here to pick up the order and he says door dash has not given him orders for 3 days. So my orders were not made. I had to call everyone to find out what they order and as I'm calling out the orders he's like oh yes I see them. Very confused as to how he has no orders but also has orders? There was construction and graduations going on that day so my commute was a little longer but he not having the orders ready also made me late.

Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding.
