If I could do a 0 stars or negative I would. They said they didn't have items that we paid for with an online purchase when we picked our food up. My husband asked about a refund or replacement item to mitigate the price difference. The lady at the pick up counter said they couldn't do that, we would need to contact the company for a refund. We did that and haven't had a response. We called the store and spoke to somebody a couple weeks later, who said that a manager would call us back regarding the issue. This never happened either. We care talking about approximately $15. I wonder how many people this happens to- eventually $15 is going to add up to a lot of money they pocket in exchange for nothing. I've been coming to their food truck for a few years now after a long night out on Dirty 6th, their lamb over rice is the perfect meal to (try) & help prevent a hangover. It really hits the spot. Now I visit their brick & mortar restaurant on Guadalupe. Halal Bros' quality & flavor is perfect. Their brick & mortar is quite small, unairconditioned & not very well ventilated, but when I come here, I come for quick, delicious food, not ambiance. It's no frills & the best Halal option in Austin, in my opinion. I would order to-go if you don't want to sweat into your food as you dine, during the warmer months. Another thing to note is that there is basically no parking lot & In N Out next door has a strict customer only parking policy & apparently has no qualms with booting/towing Halal Bros' patrons' cars. I love this place. Every time I go to Austin I need to make a trip here. I get the lamb and it is incredible. Don't forget to ask for some more white sauce. I had to use about 3 of them because it just isn't enough on the one they give you. I did have a complaint though. For some reason the guys restroom was locked the entire time so I was uncomfortably sitting there for a while until I decided to give up on waiting. This place has been a favourite for a while, but they've really done the most during COVID 19. I only get one thing and that's the chicken shawarma over rice. It's massive. I usually eat this for about 3 meals (and I'm a girl that eats). Everything is always fresh. The dish is served with a salad and the veggies aren't all wilted even though the meal is hot. The sauces. I left this place pleasantly stuffed AND with leftovers to take home! It was busy the day I went but the food was worth the wait. The service was very polite and attentive. The falafel over rice was so good. I'd drive all the way back up to Austin just to eat it again. Even after I mixed everything up with the sauce, the falafel was still crunchy. god BLESS Halal Bros !!! Their food is amazing; in my opinion it's better than the famous Halal Guys in NY. They also have a little food truck downtown which is a little cheaper but only takes cash. Their service is awesome, everyone who works here is so friendly and patient, especially at 2AM on weekends when everyone comes here drunk asf. There's even a guy who will stand outside and make sure nobody parks at In-N-Out and gets booted. Bless y'all for being open so late and having the best food around campus. I didn't see H.Bros on Doordash for a while and settled for other halal places and I was sorely disappointed every time. H.Bros just has something different about them. I use to live in NY, so i know what the Halal Guys taste like. I must say this place is comparable. Ordered the Combination Plate. The meat is pretty juicy. However, the sauce is just ok. I wish they kept the sauce on the side, didn't realized they put it on top. Actually needed extra sauce because they did not give me enough white sauce. Place takes forever to get the order out though, not sure why it took so long when there were only 2 people ahead of us. That's just chicken. Your meal is a rectangular to go foil tin instead of a circular one. I think portion sizes are a little bigger in NY with some pita too. But don't let this scare you away. Lamb is always the way to go. I would come here any time for $7.49. Maybe it was my good looks or just the time of day, but when I went back up for more white (aka crack) sauce, it was free for me. They have the usual line up for Maine Root Beer/sodas. My wife had a few leftovers which I mainly devoured, but I saved enough to enjoy it again for lunch the next day. We will be back several times. 'Lamb over rice, no salad, with extra hot sauce and white sauce, please!' This is my order, every single time. Within 10 minutes, I'm greeted with a to-go container that barely makes it to my apartment without being devoured in-transit. A generous heap of buttered rice, chunks of luscious lamb and an almost artistic zigzag of red and white sauces. It's not healthy, and it's food fit for only the occasional splurge: still, I am hooked! Some people consider this 'drunk food' (there is a cart for that) but because Austin isn't the strongest in the Middle Eastern cuisine department, I say the Halal Guys are an excellent choice, sober or sauced. And now that this new restaurant is open in addition to their legendary cart, it's a bit easier to get my lamb over rice fix. Parking can be somewhat of a cluster, but I'm just happy I can now get my favorite Middle Eastern dish in Austin outside of the cart's limited operating window (I don't keep Thursday - Sat clubbers' hours) and sans a trip to the epicenter of Dirty 6th nightlife. read more

Halal Bros is my new favorite stop-and-go spot! I absolutely adore this place... so much so that I'm definitely overlooking some real negatives in giving a 4 star review. My biggest irritant is that they frequently run out of key parts of their menu, which is very small. I have nothing against small menus, in fact I think it's usually a better idea, but if you're going that route don't run out of your ingredients! Also, their credit card machine breaks a lot which makes them suddenly cash only. Not to mention it's so small in there you can barely stand during a rush. What saves Halal Bros from all these ~problems~ is how amazing the food is. Everything from the top down is a delight. My personal highlight is definitely the chicken shawarma the way it comes, which is with this amazing garlic mayo paired with a zesty hot sauce. I'm also a big fan of the combination plate served over rice, because it lends a little more variety and every component is done well. Also the price! I love being able to fill up on delicious food for under $10. All in all a definite must try. read more

So the food's gone up a dollar and some change, parking's still a bitch, and there's still a bit of a wait for grub if there are people in front of you (I waited about 10-15 minutes with 5 people ahead of me), but that lamb and rice will be worth it to me every single time. They've also expanded their menu, but who am I kidding- I'm never cheating on lamb and rice. The best part? They're open from 11-11 which means that I now have access to lamb and rice for lunch! and dinner!...and mid-afternoon snack!
