I had a very negative experience at St. Lawrence optometry…read more The St. Lawerence optometrist Dr. Chippior (whom owns both stores) saw me for a two year follow up appt.. Dr Chippior told me I was borderline requiring glasses and asked me for a two week return visit to re check my right eye. Right after the first visit and without telling me, she advised the MTO that I could not drive without corrective lenses. Dr. Chippior did not advise me of needing corrective lenses nor on my second visit two weeks later She advised me that my new prescription was such a "minimal change" that I would not notice the difference in the glasses. She never informed me that this prescription would require me to wear glasses in order to legally drive a vehicle. This lack of disclosure was both unprofessional and potentially dangerous. I will never see her again nor would I recommend her or her business.

They conducted all tests to tell me there was nothing wrong. They performed a refraction on my eyes without a need to and then billed me separately for it. when I got the bill and questioned it, I was told that "you signed the paper that said you would pay what insurance does not cover." I was not informed that they would be doing a refraction and that it would not be covered. Beware! Refraction done at this office or any ophthalmologist office is NOT usually covered by insurance. It would be covered at an optician's office because it is an exam needed to get glasses. therefore, do not go to the ophthalmologist for eye glasses!
