Notices it's here but listed wrong. With their card in front of me it's spelled HAIS. Replaced some steering parts and needed it aligned. The place is busy and I was told it would have to be done in the morning, not a surprise since I just showed up since they don't do appointments for alignments. Ended up leaving it rather than driving back the next day (Free!) and they locked it in their large fenced in area. Had it ready by 11 AM and when I picked it up everything was right. Steering wheel centered, no pulling in any direction and turn the steering wheel lose on a smooth straight stretch of road and almost no drift. Better than expected for a 2006 Jeep. Cost at $55.00 including tax is at the low end of waht I have seen shops wanting. Yeah I will be back. read more

A dealership recommended me to get brake flush and an oil change on my BMW 328i. Checked with multiple shops and the lowest I got was $200. Came across Hai's shop on Yelp and decided to give him a shot based on the reviews. This place is legit. A small shop with without any seating area and I was requested to get my own supplies ( synthetic oil, filter and brake fluid). There are plenty of auto supply shops nearby so got the supplies from nearby AutoZone. Car was ready within an hour and saved $100 on the same service. Highly recommend this place. I was referred to Hai's by Redds Automotive. It was suggested I arrive to Hai's early due to his popularity. The hrs are 9a - 6p on Saturdays so I arrived @ 7:30a on July 1st. There were several vehicles pulling up after me. Hai arrived around 8:15 a or so. He had my SUV n the bay by 8:34a and I was done before 9a. Awesome mechanic and very reliable. My Volvo needed an all 4 wheel alignment. No Problem! Done in 20 minutes, after a 10-minute wait at 1 PM. I was quoted $249 at one local foreign car specialist and Hai was a mere $60. Don't be put off by the location or the look of the place. He had all the proper equipment and knew exactly what to do. read more

Hai did front and rear breaks as well as fixed my AC on my2006 Honda Accord all for extremely cheap. He also checked a few other things that he threw in for $25. Hai is the best! I took my Mustang in here less than 3 months ago into this place for alignment, and haven't had any front end work done since. Noticed the other day that the inside of my front tires were BALD, took it into a TRUSTED shop a friend of mine works at who checked it and tells me that my front toe angle on both sides is out by 20 or more DEGREES! Which is the reason I am now having to replace my front tires VERY PREMATURELY. This kind of service is unsafe and very unprofessional, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. (FOR THE RECORD, I NEVER LEAVE BAD REVIEWS THIS IS LEGITIMATELY MY FIRST 1 STAR REVIEW), I was nothing but nice to the staff and technician in the shop but to see these kind of results after such a short time is nothing short of shocking. Please, spare yourself and take your vehicle to a more reputable shop if you want your alignment done right. IF THE OWNER READS THESE, if he/she offered to fix my front end for free, I would take this review down and change my review entirely, otherwise, if you value your safety, go somewhere else. FYI they told me over the phone that they only warranty their alignment for 30 days, considering they charged me $90, I am wondering if they even did any adjustment at all. read more

I generally hate auto repair shops. When my car has an issue, I'm totally at their mercy. I can't lift the car up in the air myself, so I have to trust and rely upon someone in whose interest it is to find as many things wrong as possible and charge me as much as possible for them. The repair costs vary so wildly between shops that I'm never sure what is a fair price and what is a total ripoff. Without a trusted mechanic, what am I to do? When my '05 Nissan Sentra began leaking oil, I consulted Yelp. I called literally nine or ten of the top-rated places for quotes and they all wanted to charge me between $800 to $1300 for the service. I brought the car into one of them for a free inspection, and they gave me a list of six other "preventative maintenance" items that needed to be done which cost more than my monthly salary. Uhh, thanks but no thanks. On the eleventh call, I found Hai's Auto. The quote was about 40% lower than everybody else. I brought my car in that night, dropped my keys in the overnight box, and my car was fixed the next morning. Done and done! Nobody tried to sell me any extra crap that I didn't need and my car now runs great. Now, Hai's Auto is a grubby repair shop in an industrial area off North Lamar. It's not one of those fancified repair shops with the plush waiting rooms, super friendly customer service, e-mails with photos of your car's underbelly, cheerful shuttle rides to your workplace, Keurig coffee machines, free Wi-Fi service, or DVD libraries you can watch while you wait. I have noticed that all the top-rated places on Yelp tend to fit this model and let me tell you, that friendly service comes with a steep price. At Hai's you're lucky to get a metal chair to sit in, but guess what? It's cheap and it's effective. Nobody will offer you a mocha latte or a foot massage while you wait, but you will save a treasure trove of a cash. And at least for me, that's what it's about. My first experience with Hai's was today to get my alignment fixed, but I can still say a lot of good things. I called him at around 4:30 to see if he was open on Sunday, since I was calling on a Saturday and assumed he would be too busy to help me. He asked what my problem was, though, and asked if I wanted it done today, which was a nice surprise. It was definitely affordable, we sat in the office area and watched a UT game on a big TV while he fixed the car, and he gave us a good summary of what was wrong with the car and what to look out for in the future. Real nice guy. It's not a big chain, or a place that seems really well-known, but if the service is good, I prefer places like that because they are a bit more personable. I'll probably go back to him relatively soon to get my brakes fixed. read more

I have lived in Austin for almost nine years and I have always gone to Hai's Auto for major repairs. I was referred to him by one of my best friends and from the moment I met him, he was extremely friendly. His services are affordable and he has your vehicle repaired in a very reasonable time, most often, the same day. Every time I get a quote from a chain auto repair shop or the dealership, Hai quotes me 40-50% less. Most places kill your wallet with inflated labor costs. Not Hai. He's honest and his labor costs are reasonable. My sister now lives in Austin and he's her mechanic as well. It's not a modern shop with a fancy, well decorated waiting area, but I don't go there for the decor, I go for the car repair service, which is top notch! read more

Was quoted $100 - $180 for most places doing alignment, and required turnaround times of a minimum 3-4 hours. I continued doing research for other places, as the services can be hit or miss on larger chains. Lo and behold, I find this gem in north Austin with quite the loyal client base. Gave em a call around noon, and they tell me it wasn't too busy, they can have me in and out within 30-45. Stopped by, got my alignment (which resolved some existing issues I had) and was out the door. Exactly the same quality of service I'd expect from a fancy dealership, but paid $45 and was out the door within the hour. Don't sleep on the smaller shops! read more

I guess I have the worst luck with timing, our 2012 Audi Q5 broke down on us a few days before our 2,100 mile move from Texas to Washington. After being quoted $1,900 for a cracked radiator and a broken cooling fan from a different shop. I came to Hai's which took the job for $700 to include an oil change as well. To make things even better, I was told it would take a day. I dropped off the vehicle right before closing and literally picked it up in the afternoon the following day. I just took my old year 2000 Honda Accord to Hai's shop on Tuesday for an air bag indicator issue and this was my second time to Hai's shop. As most people said, they were friendly, good service, the price was very reasonable, no BS and no other services requested. This is the first review I am writing on Yelp, I am not very much into writing reviews, but I do check reviews very often for suggestions, so I figured I will help others find an excellent mechanic with my review. I agree with Sheree 100% Being a girl is frightening having to go to a mechanic alone, and I do not know much about cars either. I first went to Hai's because my transmission was leaking fluid. I went to a Honda dealership, and they said that it could not be repaired, that I had to buy a new one for $5K, this was way too much for me, and it is half the price of my car... I called Hai's, he received me the same day, and checked my car. It turned out that with a small repair my transmission was fixed, and it only cost $50! This was in December, and until now it has stopped leaking, and has worked just fine. I really appreciate their honesty, and their prices. They are 100% reliable, and won't screw with your car just to get some money from you. It is a relief being able to trust 100% on every word Hai says, and all their recommendations. I also went to Hai's again 2 weeks ago to have my windshield replaced. He took care of it on the same day, and the price was cheap, and the service was very fast. The personnel is also very friendly and courteous, they are eager to help and answer any questions one may have. They are very knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend them to anyone, and would love to have known them from the very first day I got to Austin. read more

Affordable, trustworthy. We went to him for over a year and we feel our cars were in good hands. We had to stop going to Hai when our Subaru needed some transmission work and he didn't have the capacity to get it done very quickly. I think he fixes a lot of service vehicles (maybe?) and our car seemed to be at the bottom of his priority list. I still think he's great for smaller repairs though. read more

Brought in my Lexus for an alignment because it was pulling to the right side really bad. They said it was the upper control arm that needed to be replace. I did not realized they misdiagnose the problem. Those control arms are super expensive ($800.00) and it cost me just on parts alone. I have another shop install a new upper control arm, I have Hai align my car once more. To our surprise it was still pulling to the right. Those idiots at Hai said it was the tires. My only problem was a bad front tires. I bought new tires and never needed an upper control arms. Alignment shop like this should not be in business. Incompetent technician. This the best place in town to get alignments done and did I mention it's only $40? Most places charge anywhere over 100 and I'm in and out in under 39 minutes. I drive all the way from Dallas just to get an alignment done here! The guys here are good at what they do and get you back on the road in no time! I was recommend to this place by Austin Autohaus next door when I needed an alignment done on Mercedes and before I even reached the door the manager came out and said hey go see this guy he's $150 cheaper than me. $40 for any make or model? Been here twice, 3 stars is the average. First time I went in for an alignment on my truck, Hai was the one who did the work. Got everything within spec except the caster, which I knew because of my suspension setup wasn't going to be in spec. He cranked it as close as possible. Second time, I went in 1 hour before closing (I think that's fair) and another tech did the alignment. Same truck, but with upper control arms that would allow the caster to come within factory specs. The tech made quick work of the alignment and when I looked at the results, he didn't even attempt to change the caster. In fact he only made changes to the camber and toe, which were already in spec. Lesson learned. Some people quit working before quitting time. Unfortunate because Hai was a great guy, which is why I came back the second time. read more

Being a girl and knows nothing about cars is really a disadvantage when you bring your car to a mechanic. I've got rip-off so many times I'm pretty sure I would breakdown and cry if I really go back and calculate every car shop transaction I've done every since I started driving. But Hai's is different. Those mechanics are fast and they know what they're doing. The best of about them is that they DO NOT RIP YOU OFF, even if you're a girl!! Omg amazing. Okay I can be more eloquent than that but these guys are just great. My family has been going here for a looonggg time. They are super responsive and they do a great job each time. They have serviced my family's 1) Toyota Camry 2) 4 Hondas (Fit, CRV, Odessey, Civic) 3) VW beetle flawlessly. And most importantly, they are honest with you if they can't fix it (example: my VW horrible transmission problem, they looked at it, test drove it, and simply said that it's something they can't fix) (btw: the VW got scrapped because no one could fix it and needed a brand new transmission, not worth it & don't get a VW beetle (seriously)) anyway, I really appreciate that kind of straightforwardness in a business instead of trying to fix it and charging me when the problem was never solved. Well today I have my car in for the back structs replace. Hai, mechanic name is An and american name is Andy, he is so suck! First issue misplace the car key for an half hour until other mechanic help him founded this is piss cause he open and searching everywhere in the car like a thief. Second problem I have to take the car back because the rear left side is making noise. One nut for the wheel is not even tighten but the real problem is the struct screw on the top is all loose. read more
