Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.

Not just any cut (I've been trimming my freakishly long hair for years), I saw Monique Samuels on RHOP with a cute bob and decided that was the hair for me. When I found that it was not to my liking, instead of going to an actual professional, I went back in to give myself layers and BANGS. What is wrong with me? Anywho, fast forward a year, my hair had grown out but was long in places it shouldn't be long and short in places I didn't want it to be short. I understand a five- or ten-minute delay, but longer waits should come with an explanation and a courteous apology. What makes the experience worse is the rude, dismissive attitude when addressing the delay. Whether the issue is overbooking or poor scheduling, customers shouldn't have to pay for it with their time. Honoring appointments and treating people respectfully are basic expectations.
