I wasn't told that until I was paying. (Hadn't budgeted for that). I would've dried my hair at home. The chair was short, I am tall, my (very nice) hair dresser was shorter. So, I had to keep scooching down in the chair to get my hair done. I was aching after 3 1/2 hours. Finally, my (still very nice) hairdresser wanted to take photos of my hair. I was fine with this but I didn't really get a choice. Then, she was touching my face and the front of my neck. I wasn't asked if this was okay and I was uncomfortable. I love my hair. Not just any cut (I've been trimming my freakishly long hair for years), I saw Monique Samuels on RHOP with a cute bob and decided that was the hair for me. With newfound conviction that I was a professional hair dresser, I lopped off 6 inches. What? Yes. Confidence. When I found that it was not to my liking, instead of going to an actual professional, I went back in to give myself layers and BANGS. What is wrong with me? Anywho, fast forward a year, my hair had grown out but was long in places it shouldn't be long and short in places I didn't want it to be short. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into a peaceful retreat. The salon's serene, self-care-focused atmosphere is something truly special--nothing like the hustle and bustle of a typical salon. My highlights from a different salon were previously brassy and harsh, but Stephanie worked her magic to transform them into a cool, classy look that I'm absolutely in love with. One of the standout touches was the shampoo experience: lavender-infused eye masks and a weighted blanket made it feel more like a spa than a salon. I brought inspiration photos (as shown below- 2 pictures for the cut and 1 for the color). I was disappointed with both the cut and color. I went back 3 times for them to fix it and unfortunately, they were unable to correct their errors. The start, the inspiration photos I provided showed curtain bangs and the stylist I saw gave me a deep side part (which is not how I usually style my hair) and no curtain bangs. I specifically asked for them to be at my cheek bone. No curling or other special styling after the cut as well. As for the color, I showed the darker brown color for inspiration. The stylist gave me cool tones and made me look grey (not at all what I wanted!). I went back a 2nd time for the stylist to fix the color (I decided to focus on that issue), it looked better after she toned it but she missed some spots; there were blonde streaks on the sides of my hair that were visible when I pulled my hair up into a high pony tail (which I wear daily). So, I decided to go to the owner for the 3rd attempt to try and fix the color. I described the "zebra stripes" on the sides of my head (that's what I called them). He made the overall color look better, but as you can see I still have the random blonde streaks on the sides of my head. I'd like to add that when I was leaving the salon after my 3rd visit, I heard another customer complain that her stylist did her color wrong (she saw another stylist that I didn't see) and asked him to tone down the color. So, I think many of those stylists struggle with coloring hair. I am posting here to caution anyone who's considering coming here for any hair services- particularly if you want to color your hair. I had disappointing experiences and saw another customer disappointed here too. I gave the salon 2 stars because I did feel the staff were overall friendly and the salon looks cute. I was offered tea/ coffee several times throughout the appointments, which I appreciate. Sadly, for $400, I needed more than pleasant interactions and a pretty space. I hope this feedback helps others who are considering coming here, and might possibly motivate the stylists to do additional training to improve their coloring skills.
