BUYER BEWARE: HAIR ZONE BEAR, DE We made a purchase in December 2023. We were unable to use everything we purchased so we were given a store credit of 36.94. No Refunds! We went to Hair Zone yesterday to use it and were told that they couldn't scan our credit due to the cheap printer paper fading, although you could see the numbers. However, Mike told me that he would call someone today to see how they could resolve the issue. I called back today and I was told that my receipt was over 6 months old and cannot be used. Now she says we had to use it within 3 weeks this was never mentioned. If we were told this we would have just made another purchase at that time. So we are out of 36.94 because of Bad business practices. They get to keep our money. read more

I have been looking for a wig that compliment me, for years, other sales personnel would try the tell me what I wanted to hear but I didn't fall for it. I needed someone with knowledge and experience. I just gave up until a family member took me to Hairzone at 1827 Pulaski Hwy, Bear DE. This store had a good variety of non-lace. Not everybody wants a lace front wig but if you do they got you covered. I don't know about all the sale personel but I know one sale person (Ms Hanifa) she explained what worked for my complexion & the what style for me. I went in for one wig and left with two. Been meaning to stop in this store a few times when driving pass or hanging around the area at other stores so today I finally did. Its a pretty nice size store for all your hair needs, especially females for the most part. I'd think yall like this store. BUT it is one complaint I do actually have and gave them 3 stars. The prices on majority of the products, damn! Like I said I mainly was browsing but I needed some moisturizer for my beard and I take care of my hair. I seen like the smallest like 4oz pomades and even beard oil priced at $8.99. I was like "Oh hell no, the owner of this store tripping". Even seen a about 8oz of "Uncle Jimmys curl kicker" for $11.99, thats too much. Probably not doing me justice without pictures right now but I'll go back sometime soon again just to show. Like I said for the most part they have alot of items that you may been looking for in other places but had no luck. Its just still, don't take advantage and charge a arm&leg sheesh. I never report anything online, but I wanted to voice my opinion because I felt some type of way with what happened to me in this beauty supply store on 10/26/1013. I decided to go to this beauty supply store because they have a good amount of weaves, lace front wigs, pony tails and all types of hair products. As I entered the store a young lady who was stocking products asked me if I needed any help. I told her "no thanks" because I ultimately didn't need any assistance as I knew which products I was looking to buy. Once I picked up my lotions I walked around the back to look at the wigs. I saw the young lady from the corner of my eye following me to the back of the store (mind you they have tons of cameras in this little beauty supply store) but they still feel the need to follow people. She asked me again if I needed help and I told her I wanted to see a few wigs (so she started to help me). All of the sudden the lady (a young girl) says "Oh I like your purse, how much was it?" I didn't think anything of it because us women usually like to make small talk so I told her "it was $189 or something at Macy's" then she asked me if she could see inside my purse "Is it big inside, can I see inside your purse?" I thought that was odd but I said "sure" and opened my purse (this was a large hobo Michael Kors bag- no biggie, almost everyone has a Michael Kors bag). As I did that I realized this lady just wanted to see inside my bag and if I stole anything from this bullxxxxx of store. I felt like a criminal, so low and unappreciated as a customer. I physically had lotions in my hand and was buying an expensive wig and this lady still thought I might of stollen something (SMDH). As I was purchasing my products and hair the owner was ringing me up he was also on the phone barely paying any attention to me and making any eye contact. I told myself wow! I will never enter or purchase from that store again (there are plenty of other beauty supply stores in the Bear/Newark area that have better customer service) and I will also tell all my girlfriends not to go to that specific beauty supply store because they don't know how to treat their customers. *** Please beware when you go to that store*** read more

I know it's hard for African Americans to find worthwhile hair and skin products, but please, if you respect yourself, do turn to this store. I, an African American woman, purchased some basic hair products from these people and was treated with a dismal level of disrespect, all over a dispute in regards to the amount of change due. When, because of their own mistake, they made made me wait an unjustifiable amount time in line as they attempted to figure out where they went wrong, an extremely rude employee (of Asian background), mumbled to another employee of Eastern descent (in regards to me), "these people, they can't even do simple math". "These people"? It was not hard to assume what group he was referring to. I was incredibly insulted, and chose to address him over this indiscretion. I asked who he was talking to, or even simply, who he was referring to as "these people". He responded that he was speaking to himself, and not to me. Regardless of if he was referring to African Americans, or simply Americans in general, such commentary was shocking and contemptible. As you can imagine, I was horribly insulted. I am not one to cause a scene in public, but I felt it would be an injustice to anyone who has ever faced racial discrimination to remain silent. I told the employees of the store that their lack of professionalism, as well as their lack of customer service was embarrassing, and at best anachronistic. What world did they think they were living in? Of course, they were ashamed and remained silent until I left the store. Still, I feel compelled to write a review so that others may be warned--do not give your money to people who would exhibit such blatant racism. It is 2017, and we do not live in a world where such discrimination should be rewarded with monetary gain and complacency. I will never take my money there again, nor should you. read more

They have a very wide selection of products including crochet hair, which is what I was looking for. I was very happy to find it since it's not too far from home and I didn't want to have to go to Philly or online to find the crochet braids. I will be returning this weekend to make my purchase.
